I am shocked that 2300s would play Nf3 in this line. The knight’s movement is restricted by the pawn on f6, and becomes a target for Bg4. As I understand it, Ne2 is the better move (after Bd3). I thought I’d only be able to enjoy these Nf3 Tartakowers while I’m low-rated, but apparently the sky’s the limit.
Hmm. I am often play this from the Black side vs 2300-2500 opposition in Lichess Blitz and I would say Bd3 is decidedly more common than Nf3 in that range. Nf3 makes it much easier to equalize and even get the better game soon, so no surprise that Bd3 is played more often. But I would not be surprised if Nf3 (as the supposedly more "natural" move) is more common below 2000 (knights before bishops etc...). A very interesting variation in any case, nice video.
Just bought the course along with the slav(triangle) course. Super excited with the plans I’ve seen in the previews. Is there a preferred move order transposition if the bishop comes out first in the London and then their pawn closing the structure? I noticed the pgn had knight out first.
Great content and well thought out lines! People can't refuse the opening course, it's a forced line
Thanks Geert! Caro is too strong :)
Nice to see that White isn't the only one threatening Bishop sacs on the h pawn in the Caro-Kann ;)
Yeah!!

Yeah I see a lot more Nf3 lately

Thanks for ordering the courses! When white plays 1.d4 2.Bf4 3.e3 we can still play the same London line.
I don't understand why people play h3 in this position. there's no threats on g4 and while it's just fine, getting the bishop out is better, right?
Don’t feel bad, Matt, I couldn’t find the mate in 5 either.
lol!
what happens if the white bishop goes to f1 to prevent the sac from working?
Yes that's a good idea when white has time for it
How come my bishop sacrifice didn’t work in our game?

Thanks!
What ...Rxc3 is in the Sicilian, ...Bxh3 is in the Tartakower. Surprising that so many White players are so unaware.
Yeah, I'm not sure why!
