- Former featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has fought Max Holloway three times and Ilia Topuria once, so who better to break down their featherweight title fight Saturday at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi in the main event of UFC 308.
Volkanovski is 3-0 against Holloway but lost his belt to Topuria at UFC 298 when he was stopped in the second round. He said he thinks it will be difficult for Topuria to take Holloway down and said Holloway's style on the feet might post problems for the champion.

Best mma journalist. Thanks jack slack for bringing me here. As a massive volkanovski fan im very conflicted. I dont want to see max lose but i want volk to be the one to de-throne ilia and take back his belt. Saying that, max physically looks washed. I think hes in the twilight of his career, however hes still max holloway and he may have the perfectstyle matchup to beat topuria.

Volks champ reign was weak. His career highlight is beating Max 2 1/2 times and by the summer Volk will have 3 KOs in his last 3 😂

Nonsense. He has been asking for the rematch since before Max vs Ilia was booked. In fact he tried pushing to have the rematch right away. It just makes him look better if Max ends up beating Ilia, given he himself beat Max three times.

Iole asking good questions, and gotta give respect to Volk. Being from Hawaii I'm a Max fan through and through. Even though Volk has beaten him x3 times with 2nd fight being questionable, I'm a van of his also. And his honest opinion on picking Max is valid, being he's been in there with him for x3 championship fights and defended it. He got a feel for topuria too when he lost the belt to him. So he's seen both fighters in action and his honest assessment is that he thinks Max will be victorious. Ilia whining about that is petty.
Max respected Volk during 75 minutes.....Ilia will not respect Max during 25 minutes....Ilia has the tools to take Max Out.

Check Ilia fights from the beggining and you will see a clear evolution without losing a fight, and each fight he uses a different strategy. Max is a awesome person and fighter, but Ilia es the new Generation of MMA fighters. I can say in few years, everybody will train like Ilia, in order to win.

IIts ovious that Alex want Topuria. That ego inside hurts of that loss.
I lean Topuria for sure, but, Max can win this fight beyond any question..While they both have a 69 inch reach, Max's legs and torso are way longer, which will give him a big reach advantage in real world fighting..If Max uses his length, stays in perpetual motion, in and out with the kicks and jabs, with his cardio and chin, he could be very hard for Topuria to find, and could certainly win. I think Topuria gets it done, but wouldn't be surprised, if Max wins by employing that strategy..
Probably the best take I've seen. Fighting is extremely unpredictable and it comes down to a best of one. The better fighter of the night will win and we get the privilege of seeing it happen.
Ilia was crumbling against jai Herbert it wasn't his night he was losing not landing but with his heart he still got it and ko him. I don't compare max and jai Herbert but ilia already Did it he is true champion, so I can't agree here with volk even if it won't go like ilia want he will still find a way I believe!!!

If Alex wants a clear path to fight Ilia for the bell, fight Diego Lopes Dec 24, and then April 25 in Spain against Ilia. Obviously Ilia wont fight in Feb /Australia having UFC Spain in negotiations so close

Idk! I’m hoping he’s smarter than Brian Ortega and Gaethje. Illia can sub Max easily and I hope he takes Max down. Maybe grab his back during a spinning kick near the fence. Illia has way more tools to win but Max is long and fast, Illia was getting destroyed by Jai Herbert in that first round. Max has a better gas tank than Jai and the second round won’t be easy for Illia this time. I hope he mixes in takedowns and level changes.
