Fun fact, 2 chapters from this game were removed during development, both of them being part of the finale, the game was going to have 16 chapters at first instead of 14. between chapter 13 and 14, one focused on Rodin and another one on Jeanne. "The infinite" and "Agent J's Last Stand". They probably wanted to give this Jeanne a proper send off at first, by giving her a whole chapter dedicated to her final fight. But they threw it away, giving her the most anticlimatic death in the franchise and rushing the ending in 2 quick chapters. You can even tell how the pacing went from 0 to 100 the moment french bayo died.
Ngl Jeanne getting a proper ending and Rodin becoming relevant to the story would've made this game infinitely better even if the ending was the same lmao, gotta love how Madama Kephri was supposed to show up and was scrapped as well :/

Genuinely I agree that the ending is just bad. Viola should've been done completely different or not done at all. She definitely is not Bayonetta. And it shouldn't be surprising that Hideki wants straight ships, since he wanted Dante and Trish to be a couple.
I dont know if somebody already tell you but from what i have heard, everyone except bayo and luka revives at the end of the game including jeanne, its just very messy to understand. There is more information in the extra for the characters that should have been explained in-game but anyway love your content! I hope you play the DLC if it acually comes out :3

My personal opinion is that the developers shouldnt have decided that a character that had been just added to the series and had very little development should be the next Bayonetta. The rushed ending affected the entire game and if the devs of this game just put in a little bit more thought into the ending, i feel like it would have made for a much better and more meaningful ending. For me, at the ending i felt like there was no clairity whatsoever and i honestly couldnt believe that that was the end of the game, it just felt so incomplete and i honestly expected so much more.
Bayo3 didnt start development til late 2017 and when pitched they only kinda had an idea about the story. The original director left and then covid happened, Hellena taylors drama also started making em have to find a new voice for her aswell. Concept art for original story ideas exist in the artbook dated for 2019 so even 2yrs in they only really had concept art for what was supposed to happen, then covid happened and they swapped directors and while they didnt throw out any ideas, they did do a lot of rehauls on the story and pacing of the game. Viola wasnt even initially playable and we can even kinda see this in the 2021 trailer where bayos playable in Violas france chapter. Now, Kamiya was handsoff on bayo2, but for bayo3 after the director left and they got a new one, he did become more handson and so thats why we have the final game in its amazing gameplay, but wonky story. (That and they basically just had a very rushed time near the end of its devtime) Bayo3 was a beautiful mess basically that ended up great as a game but bad on story
When a game has such a controversial and divisive ending, you know it’s probably not a good ending… also viola had no character development at all so how can she have “grown so much” to take on the mantle of bayonetta? It makes no sense!
yeah, the only point i can like, defend the viola decision with is, the need to start from near the beginning of the main character's power rise, and journey, like...when you have defeated god twice and a half...where do you go from there? if they decided to keep ceraza, but younger and diverging, that would've be fine. one can only hope viola grows into the moniker.

I know for a fact that with viola you can only summon chesher and have her be in her fairy form I know they won’t do anything with her character she won’t have any character growth she won’t have anything changed about her she will always be weak

The only thing I even remotely like about her is when her Chapter result screen shows up. Here's a tip: If you're going to introduce a new character, make her fun to play and give her as much of a chance to thrive as Bayo in 1. She honestly doesn't even get that. Her WT is pure garbage and she has very little defensive options. How am I even supposed to enjoy playing as her when most of her fighting is RNG based? Cheshire has more of a personality than she does. It's also pretty damning when everything she fights has an advantage against her. It's just not a loveable character. And thats not a reach. Its sitfling and clunky and not fun to play as this punk rocker chick. Her style doesn't even belong here.
