Great race, I started watching moto gp full time in 2005 so this was a new one to me but always loved the Rossi v Gib battles!

Amazing race craft at display, Gibernau used defensive lines all race long, Rossi hunted him down on final lap but got outsmarted on the final lap trying a defensive line, but Gibernau knew he was going to do that so he uses the best line for the corner exit

Gibernau reminds me Dovizioso : they became winners in Motogp at 30 years old and they sometimes beated Rossi in his era and Marquez in his era

that was my favorite move on the track, your opponent goes inside for the apex, you go outside and square it off, usually worked.

I believe his last Motogp race was on a ducati pramac circa 2006-2007, he actually came into the pits saying he "wasn't motivated to ride anymore and play the backmarker role", was fired on the spot lol.

A great era
that Aprilia RScube was a unique project. really sad it didn't went as planned. 3 cylinders trident. that bike was a Eargasm on wheels. the line was nice too.
another funny thing is that despite the V5 Honda winning a lot, nobody took that road engine designwise to try to compete. i really don't know why because now it's V4 or ST4 for everybody! maybe the complexity of it on paper discouraged many. but that engine was reliable so.... weird ending for that engine.

I am MotoGP fan since the era of 2000. Where Rossi rider Honda NSR 500cc. I was a fan of Valentino Rossi until now. Even though he no longer feels the champion, I still like VR46.
the famous "rocketship" Nastro Azzuro NSR500. one man team since the beginning. Rossi is something else. he has his defaults but man oh man... what a Legend.

Dear MotoGP, Please make the upcoming event more competitive. Right now? You just trying so hard making young riders an ‘artificial icon’. Pretty sure you’re having a downfall on dying hard fans who always supporting this sport. We missed the high level of PURE TALENT like the biaggi,sete,rossi era.

Unless I'm mistaken, I think a few of the bikes in this race were 500cc 2-strokes.
The Proton KR machines were two-strokes. McWilliams and Aoki, I believe. Plus David de Gea on a very privateer bike.

He has never been some serious danger for Rossi, he was ambitious and that's about it...he won the race from time to time, but it was fun to watch his anger when Rossi beat him, just as Biaggi back in the days...
