So happy that after so many years in the U.S I finally get to see all the episodes I missed when I left England. Splicing leaves a lot to be desired. Just wish I could also catch up on Emmerdale Farm and East Enders. The streaming channels of British programming only have recent episodes, bummer.
well it is kind of a plot hole they got themselves into. she just ups and leaves, and the writers then have to figure out why she's not coming back. morally, she has to die for the religious dilemma to be resolved; i don't know what actually happened to ivy. if she dies, then it's a case of the whole tilsley family being wiped out by the stroke of a pen; apart from that australian bloke gail climbed onto some years back. eugh, sometimes the plots of this show tire you out.
Gail should've slapped that nurse when she had the opportunity, saying sleeping with her husband was just one of those things shows how little she understands about committed relationships..
That Victoria is one clever business woman. Lending 4 grand to some spiv, who has no money to invest in his own deal. Knowing nobody else, including his own family, would loan him yesterday's paper. On top of all that, she never did suss that she was backing a loser, and just cut her losses.
I can understand why Samir was feeling the way he was. He was a young man who didn't know what to make of a situation he had never experienced before and, consequently, tried to accuse Ken of offering to be a donor to Tracy to try and come in between him and Deirdre. In fairness to Samir, I think when people are thrown into dire situations like that, it can bring out the worst in them. Luckily, after Ken was rejected as a donor, Samir sorted himself out and decided to make amends by offering to be the donor. Although he did die as a consequence, due to his attack by those racist thugs, he definitely did a very brave and noble thing. I think that's how he should be remembered.
Samir was so sweet. Not fair he was killed off . Only time Deidre was happy. Been watching these posts randomly and this is my favourite era from my lifetime. 90s had a lot of comedy :) Also 60s episodes are interesting in a history viewpoint

I think the actor playing the hairdresser is possibly one of the worst actors who's ever appeared on the show. There is literally nothing there, he's so bland & forgettable, was he hired to play it like this, or did he not realise that it's up to him to make something of the scripts?! if you thought she was a nightmare before, then dear god, she's death warmed up now. i don't know how her head stays on her head with all the bobbing and eye blinking she does now. unfortunately the writing of the show has become very black and white compared to 10-20 years ago. characters were much more rounded, polished if you will, back then. hilda who could turn on the charm, or lash her husband with her tongue in equal measure. len fairclough, the rough and ready builder who, inexplicably, managed to charm rita down the aisle. now, you just know what you're getting when ken ambles into another mess. or mike grins his way into another scheme. or vicky pouts her way around the pub. there's no subtlety to the characters any more. and i think we all know what ena sharples would have to say about that.
Do you think Gail purposely overreacted in order to sabotage Martin's chances in his exams? He worked for 3 years before taking them. It seems that Gail might have decided to screw him, either out of revenge or because she never really supported his career choice.
Deirdre's character could've gone either way, but the writers decided to make her into a doormat for her rotten daughter. Horrible seeing her and Ken suck up to Tracy after she has verbally abused them. Who does that? And how did Tracy develop an accent and demeanor so alien to her parents and role models, like Emily for instance ? Nothing about the Barlow family is believable.
The actress playing Phyllis was away for a year, during which time Percy got engaged to Maude. Now Phyllis is back she is cronies with Maude... have I missed something or did Phyllis not mind that Percy had had a fiance?
again, more plot holes. i sometimes think the producers of this show are afraid to move characters aside when they're old and tired. really, phyllis doesn't have much of a role other than trying to give percy a quick fumble over an eccles cake.

I've always hated Sally so much and I had only seen the newer Corries until now, but one thing I can say about Sally after watching these 90s episodes, is she was a really good mom when those girls were little. So she gets points for one thing in her charecter from me.
