      That's a good news, thanks! I will keep checking with our carrier, as of now they still aren't accepting any mail headed for CA. And yes the backlog will be huge, we have to give them some time. 😉

      Yes, this will work great for minis adding to durability required while handling. You can can brush or airbrush it and once painted you can top it off with VMS Varnish HD - choice of top modelers. Happy modelling, Chris

    It will be hard to be as good as Mission Models primers as their primers will not come off when I use VMS “clean slate “ on a kit to strip it to plastic.It was a painting mule and had multiple layers of paint on top of MM primer.

    • @Vmssupplies
      @Vmssupplies  Місяць тому

      If you had multiple layers of paint over you primer it means the remover ripped into that paint, reacted and lost potency giving you and impression of the primer being so durable. We actually had a similar result. When I tested the batches for quality I painted a PZ III tank turret with grey then white and black. Then I went to strip it to test other colours. I was able to strip one colour at a time when the black dissolved grey showed unaffected, added more striper grey went away and white showed unaffected, had to increase stripper. This was done in 3 days so primer wasn't even cured right if we let it sit for a week it would gained on durabilty. On top of all that this one is super user friendly and odourless. Dunno if MM can also boast that zero toxicity. 😁

    • @timothywood4402
      @timothywood4402 Місяць тому +1

      @ no my friend I tried multiple times to remove the MM primer and even after three times of new clean slate and NO TOP PAINT the primer stayed. So , yes I have all of your products and I enjoy some others not so much but if you’re new primer can stand up like the MM product then you got something but if it’s like AK/MIG primers it’s trash.After 40 plus years of modeling I know what works.

    Do you recommend this specific primer on tabletop miniatures?

    • @Vmssupplies
      @Vmssupplies  15 днів тому

      Yes, absolutely, you can either spray or brush paint them. I can also recommend our Varnish HD as a top coat, we have some professional tabletop painters already using it due to the durability. A combo of the primer, any acrylic paint for miniatures and varnish HD will make the minis very resilient to handling. All this without having to deal with toxic lacquer primers and the like.

    I know catering to airbrush, but as a brush only user - how do these brush on? Right now using Stynylrez.

  • @Maeyanie
    @Maeyanie Місяць тому +1

    So, given how tough it is, how miserable is it to clean out of an airbrush? Even polyurethane primers can be pretty bad, and given yours is tougher... does it conveniently dissolve in anything readily-available? Airbrush cleaner, isopropanol, acetone, etc?

    • @Vmssupplies
      @Vmssupplies  Місяць тому +1

      That's the trick! It's 100% acrylic so you can clean up with tap water and basic acrylic cleaners. When I was doing trials, that means endless spraying sessions on model dummies, I used only tap water every 5 times I sprayed a dummy. Only after 5 times I used actual water-based airbrush cleaner. So if water can do it, anything you mentioned will do great, this product is not just about toughness but also about our comfort.

      Water guys, it's really easy to clean up. Just dried residue needs cleaners.

    • @Maeyanie
      @Maeyanie Місяць тому

      @@Vmssupplies It's the dried residue I'm worried about. There's always going to be at least a bit in the airbrush at the end of a session, and it has to come out.

    • @JeffreyLeeflang66
      @JeffreyLeeflang66 Місяць тому +2

      @@Maeyanie Keep a thermo mug filled with warm water on your desk; that really works well right after airbrushing. Deposit the paint from the cup and poor some hot water in it with those plastic syringes and suck it up immediately. Keep doing that a few times until there's no color present in the brush. For good measurement; flush the airbrush with some dedicated airbrush cleaner.
      Cleaning up a used airbrush, that hasn't been used for 20 minutes will always be a hassle; especially with quick drying acrylics/primer. Even faster when you are working with the heater on in winter, when air humidity will probably be very dry.... ;)

    I will test these out for sure. What is the expected shelf life?

    • @Vmssupplies
      @Vmssupplies  Місяць тому +1

      Cool, the official shelf life for today is at least 3 years, but it should be more as with any other our acrylics. I reckon 5+ years will be average. It's hard to tell with new products and estimated shelf life is often lower than actual in most cases. For our Smart Mud we estimated 2 years and now old samples are pushing 3 years, still good.

    I use to use gunze primers for durability but they made me dizzy and airbrush cleaning sucked, had to switch to Vallejo but they are weak, rub off on the edges. Is this really odourless?

      Yes, they are completely odourless but more durable than standard acrylic primers.

    • @Pool1956
      @Pool1956 Місяць тому

      @@Rorynes Yeah you are correct, I used a 3M respirator but the filters wear off fast and it's all so cumbersome. It's a hassle that I need to use special equipment to work with outdated products formulated in the 80s or even earlier. Today I go 100% with true acrylics like Vallejo. Although their paints rock, their primers suck and rub away, will try VMS primer and the circle should be complete.

    how well do they sand?

    • @Vmssupplies
      @Vmssupplies  Місяць тому

      Not tested yet, but I believe it will be smooth action with 1000 grade sandpaper. Varnish dries to hard shell rather than gummy crap like Polyurethane products which is good for sanding.

    • @Diregecko
      @Diregecko Місяць тому

      That's what I wonder, too. They sound a bit like Stynylrez, hopefully they are easier to clean. I ordered two bottles from VMS with their Black Friday sale. When I have them will test sanding them and let you know, griffia. Assuming they are the same good quality of other VMS products, I have high hopes and they would be a good non-toxic complement to my growing supply of the fantastic Ammo ATOM paints.

    I'll have to try some of this. My work area is close to the living areas of our house, so low odor/odorless paints are a must, even using a paint booth. Right now, priming is done outside where weather and dust can be an issue. This may be a great solution to an ongoing problem.

      Hi there, Good call, when we formulated we had that in mind, modellers have families, and pets no point in making them suffer from the fumes. With this product you still get the benefit of high durability; non peeling surface and can enjoy much more comfortable work. The finish is also very nice and a proper execution, which is not hard to do, very rewarding. Happy modelling! Chris

      Post is not a problem but EPR regulations are. EPR regulations demand we obtain licence for waste recycling in your contry, which is very hard to do. In Germany we pay for our licence on-line in 10 clicks - easy. If a country is blocked, for instance Spain, Greece, Bulgaria or Romania it means the process is hard - one has to appoint legal representative locally and so on. Most stores send illegally without a licence, we are not one of them. We hope EU will make a convenient one-stop shop for EPR licence. Chris
