Alejandro Pérez Rodilla Yes lived up to all the hype it had and excitement I had going in. By far my favorite movie of 2016 and in my top movies of all time I loved it
They deserve every bit of praise. For a long time, they haven't made films about regular people with normal life anymore. Not super heroes, controversial issues just pure simple love.
Exactly! Same here, it starts strong and just keeps on going strong from there. A truly great film! I actually can't wait to see it again, it's that good.
watched it opening day...walked out in such a romantic and dreamy haze that i didnt even realize i had walked 30 blocks in NYC from the movie theater to the train station. i need to see this movie again
I did the exact same thing! lol I was planning on taking a cab but after watching the movie, I walked all the way from movie theater to my place. It was more than 30 mins of walk lol
Just a fact for you. Damian wrote the roles with Ryan and Emma in mind, and only tried casting other because he thought there was no chance of actually getting them to be cast. Over fortunate meetings however, he was delighted to get in contact with the both of them and it so happened they both had a spot open in their schedule at the same time. And so Damians dream actors for the roles were fulfilled.
You understand that it's a good movie when you start to get emotional from the clips without known the plot. The beauty of La La Land is in its pureness
I saw every movie, been to premiers this year and "La La Land takes them all. Delightful charming, great acting, because they were Not acting, but that character, they needed to be. Brilliant talent, writing, producing and everyone attached to it. It gets MY vote.
Dominika Paksicza Emma Watson can act. we're all just so used to seeing her as hermione granger. there's a reason why she stood out among hundreds of children over 10 years ago. just saying
Beautiful film. Glad this generation has their Hollywood musical. Let's hope La La Land gets some serious Oscar consideration. A great tribute to old MGM/classic Hollywood pictures and the beautiful city of Los Angeles.
Moonlight, Manchester by the Sea and Jackie were great, But La La Land is the only one that left me in a fantastic dreamlike-state hours after I saw it. #MovieOfTheYear
Felt the same way after watching it at a screening, and have seen it 2 times since then. One of the best movies i've ever seen, and i've seen... A LOT of movies.
I'm so excited for this movie! Although La La Land has a third meaning as well, as Ryan Gosling said that 'La La' also represents the musical-ness of the film.
La La Land reminds me very much like the iconic movie Casablanca 1) 2 lovers spent their time in Paris 2) Couple split up only to meet coincidentally again years later in the guy's nightclub with her husband 3) Guy had to break up with girl and let her be with another man despite both of them are still very much deeply in love 4) An iconic song played on the piano - in Casablanca it's 'As time goes by', in la la land it's 'city of stars'. Even the wallpaper on the wall of Emma Stone's apartment is the picture of Ingrid Bergman!
alexandro dia totally agree except i think the more "iconic" song would be Mia and Sebastian's theme as thats how they met and the song he plays in the end. their theme is pretty much peppered throughout the entire movie. although City of Stars is one of my more favorite songs from the movie
This is my favourite movie of all time! Watched it on Friday last week and the amazing scenes and music have been stuck in my head since. I LOVE THIS MASTERPIECE SO MUCH!!😍😍
I'm actually glad it happened. I'm fairly certain the script was edited later to show the snoutinness producers have and their reluctance to original ideas, and whatever else happened, it gave us this. And to be honest, as a film major myself, it gave me newfound enthusiasm for my craft, and I only hope to make something like this in the future.
Alexander Angelus agree! although, as an aspiring filmmaker it's a little discouraging to hear of so many producers/other people who are so reluctant to creative ideas and new names.
elisabeth moss It's all until you get your big break with something smaller. Like, Chazelle's first big movie was Whiplash, and it took 3.3 million to make. After it earned 49 million on the box office, about 14 times the amount it took to make, producers were more open to giving Chazelle a chance with La La Land, with a budget of 30 million. It's not out even a month now and the box office is at 72.6 million, more than double its budget.
The Young Girls of Rochefort is one of the best movies ever ! I've seen it at least 30 times and I still love it ! I'll really have to watch La La Land !
I love Emma Watson, but I can't imagine her or miles as the leads in this. it's like Chapelle said, Emma stone & Ryan gosling already had that romantic, golden age appeal about them that made their performance successful. Emma Watson has it too, I'm just not sure it would've worked with teller or gosling as her co-star. gosling & stone work though for sure
When I saw La La Land in the theatre I went in not knowing what I was going to see. When I came out I fell in love and it is definitely a movie I will keep with me to show my kids.
Watched it last night and was Blown Away. It's is a good as you could imagine. It's a proper Hollywood Musical. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are a Match made in Heaven. I LOVED IT x
Music lovers should be proud of this movie ...when all other ordinary people care about is superhero and comic movies they take the place from these kinds of movie. Thank you for giving us la la land i needed it for such a long time
Many people might not have thought of Bogart and Bacall or Fred and Ginger as a perfect screen couple too, but half a century later it's a widely accepted fact. Same will be true for Stone and Gosling as well.
Emma Stone's acting in this movie is perfect!!!Yes,she really deserve her Oscar this year. She act flawlessly in this movie.I can feel her emotion whenever she's struggling in this movie. All of the desperation she showed on screen seem very real to me.As for Emma Watson,I'm super glad she decided to passed this role for Belle in Beauty and The Beast.I tried to imagine what it would be like if Mia was played by Emma Watson and it just wouldn't work out for me.Emma Watson is the perfect Belle and Emma Stone is the perfect Mia.So both actresses are great in their own respective movie.La La Land definitely is the best musical movie I have ever watched!!!And because of this movie,I am certainly going to watch Emma Stone's next movie project whenever she has one.
this movie made me fall in love with film again. movies like this are why film is considered an art form - not superhero movies, not comedies - movies that mean something. movies that make you feel something.
This movie made my heart broke it then made it all over again. I loved every minute of it and Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone made it a remarkable film, my two favorite actor/actress,i love them together, they could make you believe in anything because it's genuine what they often portray in the movies they star together as well as separately, take the notebook and easy a as an example, crazy stupid love, gangster squad zombieland and numerous others. high praises to this film it was well deserving of the great reviews.
I've being listening to the sound track on Spotify since I walked out of the theatre after watching this movie. Such an amazing movie honestly everything about it is beautiful.
I am so glad to see Cinemascope used in modern times. It adds such a magical quality to film. I am also glad they brought all of the beauty of Astaire, Rogers, Charisse, Kelly and Reyolds back to film. It is hard to incorporate but the new generation has to see how spectacular it is. So glad my grandparents and parents brought me up watching old musicals / RKO movies.
swept the Globes with seven wins and youngest director ever so this tells me everyone to see this movie is something for everyone La La Land 5 stars I may smell an Oscar and/or a lot of oscars for this movie two thumbs up
I watched the movie last night & loved the escapism! ...And the cast was wonderful, thumbs up :) .....however I particularly love the music & lyrics , EXCELLENT! job !!
1) Emma Stone is amazing actresses 2) Ryan Gosling is awsome as Sebastian 3) Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone had now 3 movie like Gangster Squad, Crazy, Stupid and Love and now La La Land 4) Emma Stone is perfect as Mia 5) the title is perfect
I love the ending because it's real. This movie set out to be different from the stereotype blue skies and happy ending musicals from back in the day. That's the modern feel in realizations that more often than not you aren't going to get your Pickett fence. There is beauty in things that don't last forever.
I'm really excited to see what else Damien Chazelle will do next. He's so young he has his whole life ahead of him to continue to make such wonderful films! Now that he's more well known hopefully he can make many many more films
this music gave me goosebumps when i saw the movie yesterday ... and it made me crying while watching the end, i mean this was too much to handle ! i hope Emma gets the oscar, Ryan gets the oscar ... and Damien and the movie too, this four would be enough :) *cough cough*
I was never a fan of musical films (more of a fan of live musicals than dubbed over, computer-enhanced music), but after being dragged to see this, it wasn't bad.....that's pretty high praise for someone who doesn't like musical films, too.
When a movie wins the best picture nomination at the Critics Choice Awards, which La La Land did, it's usually a precursor to what will happen at the Oscars. I disagree that Moonlight as well as, Manchester by the Sea, Hacksaw Ridge or any other in the Beset Picture category were superior, and I saw them all. The training, the multiple abilities that the actors had to learn, and perform while acting, is second to none. The filming of long unbroken takes is almost near impossible and how they got it to flow the way it did, with an engaging story line and the palpable chemistry of the leads is second to none. Plus it's hard to even get a musical feature off the ground. None of the other movies had to work as hard and wait as long, as the crew of La La Land did.
1) Emma stone is amazing
2) Ryan gosling is amazing
3) damien chazelle is amazing
4) the music is amazing
6) THIS MOVIE IS ALL AMAING!!!!
You wrote "6" instead of "5"! XD
Because I had just seen the movie and was high on JOY lol
Steven Turner Then you reccomend it?!
Alejandro Pérez Rodilla Yes lived up to all the hype it had and excitement I had going in. By far my favorite movie of 2016 and in my top movies of all time I loved it
I agree; the whole darn film and stars and music are amazingly amazing!
They deserve every bit of praise. For a long time, they haven't made films about regular people with normal life anymore. Not super heroes, controversial issues just pure simple love.
500 days of summer.
500 days of summer was 8 years ago.
NavielNaif true, but 500 days of summer has a very similar story plot, without the musical ofc
Lauren Janssen oh my god, what movie were you watching?
Very good point!! Saw it for the second time..skipped down the street myself singing "Here's to the One'...:)
The moment the first scene opened, I already knew I was going to love this movie.
Exactly! Same here, it starts strong and just keeps on going strong from there. A truly great film! I actually can't wait to see it again, it's that good.
Ann Roe same 🙌🏼
Ann Roe OMG yes are we pretty much the same person? After that song I was thinking yes this is gonna win Best Picture
Guys ... I watched it again today for the second time 😂

watched it opening day...walked out in such a romantic and dreamy haze that i didnt even realize i had walked 30 blocks in NYC from the movie theater to the train station. i need to see this movie again
I did the exact same thing! lol I was planning on taking a cab but after watching the movie, I walked all the way from movie theater to my place. It was more than 30 mins of walk lol
I WANNA SEE IT AGAIN UGH. The soundtrack is beautiful.
I saw it 7 times in the theater, then bought the DVD and both soundtracks. I’m obsessed. Loooooove this film.
This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. I can't wait to see it again. Emma Stone steals the show. She is Genius in this film.
so glad they landed on gosling and stone they were perfect for the roles
Just a fact for you. Damian wrote the roles with Ryan and Emma in mind, and only tried casting other because he thought there was no chance of actually getting them to be cast. Over fortunate meetings however, he was delighted to get in contact with the both of them and it so happened they both had a spot open in their schedule at the same time. And so Damians dream actors for the roles were fulfilled.
DUUUDE I thought Ryan already knew piano before this film! He is SO GOOD at it!! That one shocked me. Definitely a hidden talent of his
it would be criminal for this movie to come out of the Oscars empty handed
This video made me fall in love with the film already
same here
Wait till you watch the film, you're going to fall in love all over again. I promise.
I saw it a few hrs ago...mesmerizing.
Ivan Velasco I saw it yesterday and holy shit it's absolutely amazing and mesmerizing
went and saw it this evening, a week later... 2nd viewing, still has all the wallop. This is so well-done, I don't know where to start.
You understand that it's a good movie when you start to get emotional from the clips without known the plot. The beauty of La La Land is in its pureness
i saw this today and just fell in love with it !!! i love emma so much!!
Is a lot of it musical or is it a good mix of musical and standard story telling?
TravelHungry good mix. but also dont hate just because its a musical, one of my friends normally hates them but she LOVED this film
How musch is so much 😊😊😊😊😊
I'm obsessed with this movie and its music.
This movie needs to win all the awards, not just best musical but best picture overall, it's seriously amazing!
This movie is pure cinematic magic. One of the best modern films I've seen in a while. I'll be bummed if it doesn't get Best Picture.
I saw every movie, been to premiers this year and "La La Land takes them all. Delightful charming, great acting, because they were
Not acting, but that character, they needed to be. Brilliant talent, writing, producing and everyone attached to it.
It gets MY vote.
I'm so glad Emma Watson didm't stay on
Amen; amen
Chaotic Monk Emma Watson is not a good Actress. She can't acting. Sorry fans.
Dominika Paksicza Emma Watson can act. we're all just so used to seeing her as hermione granger. there's a reason why she stood out among hundreds of children over 10 years ago. just saying
+Dominika Paksicza and u can't spelling
dreamur94 I saw every HP movie:) I like all of them. But for this role, Mya front La La Land mach better for Emma Stone I think :)
This movie is magic. I was left speechless and crying when it ended.
I watched this movie yesterday! ITS NOW MY FAVORITE MOVIE!!!
Beautiful film. Glad this generation has their Hollywood musical. Let's hope La La Land gets some serious Oscar consideration. A great tribute to old MGM/classic Hollywood pictures and the beautiful city of Los Angeles.
I hope it will win the Best picture category at the Oscars. *fingers crossed*
Dominika Paksicza I would be happy if it at least gets nominated
It will be nominated for sure...;)
Dominika Paksicza hey guys... It's March 2017.. Won 6 oscars

Ross Reyes I was in after the opening scene. Knew this is going to be best picture at the Oscars in February. Beautiful film.
Its been a day since I saw it and I'm still amazed by it!!!
It's been almost 3 days and I'm still feeling in that state, need to see it again!!!
I couldn't agree more with this
I'm so excited for this movie! Although La La Land has a third meaning as well, as Ryan Gosling said that 'La La' also represents the musical-ness of the film.
thank god emma watson stepped down, it wouldn't have been the same. beautiful movie!
La La Land reminds me very much like the iconic movie Casablanca

True dat - especially as the movie references Casablanca several times - not an accident ;)
This is my favourite movie of all time! Watched it on Friday last week and the amazing scenes and music have been stuck in my head since. I LOVE THIS MASTERPIECE SO MUCH!!😍😍
What it says about the film world when no one will take a chance on an original movie musical until it's director is already successful...😭😭😭🙁🙁🙁
Alexander Angelus very good point!!!!! I agree; I'll just have to keep adding musical theatre awesomeness to the world!
Alexander Angelus agree! although, as an aspiring filmmaker it's a little discouraging to hear of so many producers/other people who are so reluctant to creative ideas and new names.
elisabeth moss I wish you luck!

This film is MAGIC!
I'm so excited to see this movie, I got the soundtrack & it's absolutely fantastic
one of the best movies I've ever seen. definitely going to be my favorite for a while!
The last bit of the movie crushed me 😭
Oh my. I can't imagine Miles and Emma Watson nor Ryan and Emma Watson doing La la land. It feels so wrong my brain can't even conjure up images. 😂
The Young Girls of Rochefort is one of the best movies ever ! I've seen it at least 30 times and I still love it ! I'll really have to watch La La Land !

Just gonna wait for JK Simmons to start slapping people. I honestly can't see him as any other character anymore.
Awesome Sunhatted Seal Productions same 😂😂
Awesome Sunhatted Seal Productions same

Auron 888 You're fired!

When I saw La La Land in the theatre I went in not knowing what I was going to see. When I came out I fell in love and it is definitely a movie I will keep with me to show my kids.

I feel like this movie was made to be the best version it could possibly be in every single aspect of it
I think the whole word just ships Emma and Ryan 😂
The film is INCREDIBLE
Music lovers should be proud of this movie ...when all other ordinary people care about is superhero and comic movies they take the place from these kinds of movie. Thank you for giving us la la land i needed it for such a long time
This film MUST SWEEP THE OSCARS!!!!!
Idk why but I don't see them as a perfect on screen couple... but the move looks fantastic and I'm going to go see it!
Many people might not have thought of Bogart and Bacall or Fred and Ginger as a perfect screen couple too, but half a century later it's a widely accepted fact. Same will be true for Stone and Gosling as well.
Raghubir Kishore Debbarma oh most definitely, down the road for sure
The song The Ones Who Dream reminds me of Rainbow Connection from The Muppet Movie.
haven't thought of it that way... you're 100% right
Omg...Now I'm imagining Kermit the frog as Sebastian
Uuuhhh YEAH!! THIS MOVIE WILL WIN THE GOLDEN GLOBE AND OSCAR FOR BEST PICTURE!!
La La Land is just such an awe-inspiring classic. It’s so easy to love the movie for its beauty and charm
i have never seen a film like this one. No words can describe Pure art,
this movie made me fall in love with film again. movies like this are why film is considered an art form - not superhero movies, not comedies - movies that mean something. movies that make you feel something.
This move was the bees-knees!! A breath of fresh air. Loved it. Highly recommended, go watch.
The ending was beautifully heartbreaking 💔
This movie made my heart broke it then made it all over again. I loved every minute of it and Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone made it a remarkable film, my two favorite actor/actress,i love them together, they could make you believe in anything because it's genuine what they often portray in the movies they star together as well as separately, take the notebook and easy a as an example, crazy stupid love, gangster squad zombieland and numerous others. high praises to this film it was well deserving of the great reviews.
This movie was amazing and I don't normally like musicals.
Cb Epyon the movie was meh and I usually love musicals
I've being listening to the sound track on Spotify since I walked out of the theatre after watching this movie. Such an amazing movie honestly everything about it is beautiful.
most beautiful movie I'd ever watched 👏
Musicals with tragic endings do well. Cabaret is a prime example. This picture was phenomenal. It IS phenomenal.
Never thought I would watch a musical and like it
but La La Land proved me wrong
it's great it's just amazing
This what's such a good movie! I'm so getting this on DVD
So glad my grandparents and parents brought me up watching old musicals / RKO movies.
this is a very beautiful movie, great actors, amazing music and story line, 5 stars
one word...BEAUTIFUL!!!
I just saw this movie today and I absolutely loved it from the first notes of Another Day Of Sun until the closing credits
Just been to see it and so amazing and breath taking. The ending was so unpredictable and heart aching i loved it
Best Picture of the year. No contest.
swept the Globes with seven wins and youngest director ever so this tells me everyone to see this movie is something for everyone La La Land 5 stars I may smell an Oscar and/or a lot of oscars for this movie two thumbs up
Behold, my favorite director, I'm excited for what he has next
I watched the movie last night & loved the escapism! ...And the cast was wonderful, thumbs up :) .....however I particularly love the music & lyrics , EXCELLENT! job !!
I'm watching so many of these La La Land videos because I can't get enough off it 😂😭❤
Awesome movie... Indeed and the amazing music... Oh my goddd
yo I'm not crying. actually I am
Watched it for the cast. It made a world of difference. Probably wouldn't have watched it if they cast who they originally planned
hopefully this is the restart of the new hollywood musical. have not seen one this good since Chicago.
1) Emma Stone is amazing actresses
2) Ryan Gosling is awsome as Sebastian
3) Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone had now 3 movie like Gangster Squad, Crazy, Stupid and Love and now La La Land
4) Emma Stone is perfect as Mia
5) the title is perfect
Imagine a movie like la la land, except they film it with a camera and use mics from the 60s… that would be amazing.
I love the ending because it's real. This movie set out to be different from the stereotype blue skies and happy ending musicals from back in the day. That's the modern feel in realizations that more often than not you aren't going to get your Pickett fence. There is beauty in things that don't last forever.
La la land is the type of movie I would like to forget often so every time I see it again i would get the feeling as the one I got the first time
I'm really excited to see what else Damien Chazelle will do next. He's so young he has his whole life ahead of him to continue to make such wonderful films! Now that he's more well known hopefully he can make many many more films
This movie made me cry so bad lol I wanted them to be happy together. Sorry spoiler
Jacob Solis Ikr I really thought they'd end up together
Jacob Solis there are people who cant be together no matter how much they love each other..
Lexie Gibb ikr it would have been cool if they ended up together 😍😍😍
This movie is so so great!! One of the very best movies i ever watched! 👍👏
THIS MOVIE IS GREAT
this music gave me goosebumps when i saw the movie yesterday ... and it made me crying while watching the end, i mean this was too much to handle ! i hope Emma gets the oscar, Ryan gets the oscar ... and Damien and the movie too, this four would be enough :) *cough cough*
Auron 888 🎶that would be enough🎶 no? Just me? Okay then
la la land. YES PLEASE. ❤
Winner!!!
Budji Tresvalles
I was never a fan of musical films (more of a fan of live musicals than dubbed over, computer-enhanced music), but after being dragged to see this, it wasn't bad.....that's pretty high praise for someone who doesn't like musical films, too.
My favorite movie of the year!!!
pure genius.
Jazz is a way of storytelling. The ending theme was Seb telling Mia how their life could've been.
OK SPOILER ALERT.....Tom Everett Scott's role at ending, His character in That Thing You Do, he loved Jazz as well!!! So interesting!!!
I love this film so much
It'll win the Best Picture at the Oscars even though "Moonlight" is a far superior film.
By the way the whole soundtrack is on Spotify. Every time I hear the planetarium song I tear up, it's so beautiful.
Damian chazelle is a genius
1st fact was mind blowing 😭💙
Here's to the ones who dream.
Terrific take.
I think we have a lot of awards on our hands especially best actor and actress for oscars
The movie was so wonderful.
