The government just pushed the graphite sourcing requirements back since something like 98% of the graphite refining is still done in China and there’s just not enough non-China graphite production to meet the IRAs requirements.
I saw yesterday when I went to play around on Tesla website. I couldn’t find anything on it yet until today. Was going to get me one on the last week of May. Glad I waited. Probably getting me one now. You can’t zero down though. There’s a minimum down payment you need to make. Just FYI. That’s what they told me at the dealership. They don’t zero down any of their vehicles. That’s what caused me to wait. I didn’t want to down anything. Lol
Interest rate is still very high for the long range. Either they should cut down price for the RWD or offer special financing on LR to attract more buyers.
Well, to be fair, there are no other teslas that could qualify with only changes to mining policy. All model Ys already qualified, model X qualified, and model S was priced out.
My 2023 Nissan Ariya Evolve FWD consistently does 310-330 miles of range with 95% charge. My driving is based on 70% city and 25% hwy. EPA estimate is 289 miles. What’s the big deal with Model 3 range? I hear Tesla over states their range.
I want the cargo space and the lie flat rear seats of the Model Y, but living here in Tucson the ventilated cooling seats would be the best thing since the invention of refrigerators. But I have the Y on order already...sticking with the Y for now.
The performance and long range is only 80 charged daily not 100. You only want to charge it to 100% when you’re going far. But anything from 80-100 is too slow to charge. You hurt the battery if you charge it to 100 everyday
You may think that. That persons like myself to take long trips have the ability to charge to 100% on those occasions. We need the 341 miles. And we also drive the snow we like to have the all wheel drive.
Wait so all the upgrades that the performance got they also enhanced on the long range? Like they build quality and the ride quality, the seats and the backseat screen?
I had wanted the model Y. Test drove both Y and 3. Loved the 3. Was going to get one but I had to down 3300. I wasn’t ready to do that. Didn’t know that they didn’t do zero down for any of their vehicles. At least at the one I went to where I’m at. I may just get one now. It’ll take it down to around $34K.
I have the new M3P and I love it. Still, if this update came out a few weeks sooner, I'd probably be driving a LR instead. It's just such a good value proposition.
It’s not point of sale. I cancelled my performance order and part of it was because it was full price and full tax and they deduct the 7500 and the down payment end. And yes don’t forget to add the destination fee of 1500 to the full price of the car
Wow, if they swapped that pack it may be big news. Yes, we saw the Out of Spec test and it really SUCKED. This sounds like great news. Now we need to see some charging tests! For $1000 price difference between the RWD and the LR it would be a no brainer if they fixed the charging issue with the pack swap. If it turns out to be the same LG pack with the poor charging then the RWD gets the nod. We need DETAILS and TESTS!
I literally just gave away one of our old gas cars yesterday with the plan of buying a used RWD M3 in a few weeks. I don't want to pay 40k, but I'm gonna be _really_ frustrated if they add the tax credit to the base model shortly after I buy a used one.
Being the battery is wholly manufactured by CATL I wouldn’t bank on that too hard. At most I would expect to maybe see the 50% credit come back to the LFP. There’s also a decent chance Tesla just cuts into the profit margins on the LFP to lower pricing, maybe change some features with it.
With the seemingly imminent ending of Foundation Series Cybertruck, I'm curious what your thoughts are on the standard features and upgrade prices for the Cybertruck going forward.
I’m trying to figure out what the new epa range would be for the new pack. More or less than the China battery? I’ll have to wait and see. Currently the range is unchanged on teslas website
These companies already get massive breaks to build and manufacturer here, usually at the expense of the local tax payer. Kia’s new plant in Georgia , Rivians plant and others get massive state and local subsidies to manufacture in there respective places. That savings won’t be passed to us unless absolutely it’s needed
Hopefully, they will consider doing the same thing they did with the model Y, eliminate the standard range and make the cheapest version the long range rear wheel drive and rebate eligible. Maybe a slight price increase on that version bringing it up to 42.5 K before rebate and 35K after rebate. That would make it the cheapest Tesla and have around 360 miles range.

A notable downside of the tax credit is those who don't quite qualify for the tax credit but make a BEV purchase actually loose money on a purchase on day one since buyers who qualify for the tax credit can purchase the same car new from the manufacture for up to $7500 less. Instead of getting the $7500 credit when you file your taxes next year, like they did in 2023, Tesla files for the credit BUT passes 100% to the consumer at time of sale. You're other point I think was regarding incentivizing manufactures via tax incentives to build in the US. Local governments do this all the time to draw companies to their states to build mfg. plants, etc. This brings in jobs, revenue, spending, building homes, local property taxes, etc. Nothing wrong with that.
