Very odd. Why are there no typical blackened, charred structural remains? Why is the debris white? I saw no black and burnt appliances within the white debris. It is physically impossible for a wildfire to get hot enough to reduce a stove, etc, to ash. What happened here?

(Update: as of 12/31/21 number of hosues destroyed has grown to 1,000+ Still no reported casualties.) For those confused, here is a summary: This fire was on an unstoppable rampage through metro Colorado. Over 1000+ homes destroyed. Couldn't bring in any form of air support due to the 70 to 110 mph winds and extremely low visibility. Most destructive fire ever in Colorado. Luckily it is now snowing, preventing the hot spots from growing. No deaths are yet reported, likely won't stay that way for long. Considering we haven't had any significant moisture since summer it spread uncontrollably quick. Anyway, glad for the owners and hoping there has not been terrible smoke damage. Prayers out to so many.
@Digby Dooright From what I heard they didn't have time as it was like a flash fire.
If you’re not familiar with Boulder County or specifically Superior and Louiseville, a fire like this has never happened before. At least not that I know of. We get many grass and brush fires during dry conditions, but OEM can USUALLY bring them under control pretty quickly. Yesterday was an absolute anomaly. Those sustained winds were not normal. As such, the powerful winds made the fires, which are unpredictable anyway, even more unpredictable and unmanageable. There is no rhyme or reason sometimes as to how the fire behaves and why it spares some properties and completely consumes others.
My guess is that this homeowner just got extremely lucky as no one in these areas really ever has to do fire mitigation on their properties like they do in the foothills or in the high country where fires are a pretty regular occurrence. You build and live up there, you are definitely rolling the dice. In the area where this occurred, it was 100% unexpected.

It’s pretty bad when the exterior of your home is more flammable than an evergreen tree
Well, an evergreen tree absorbs and stores about 10 gallons of water per 1 inch of trunk diameter per week, approx 120 gallons for 12" diameter trunked tree, during a drought. If there is unlimited water, no drought, there are records of trees absorbing 150 gallons of water in a single day. Meanwhile the exterior of a home absorbs and stores zero water.

Why are the trees still standing? Does not make sense?
Trees retain water, it was cold and the fire was fast moving.
Plenty of trees are nothing but trunks with all their branches gone. Geez, stop looking for things that aren't to fulfil some deluded nutjob inside you. These fires look identical to the ones that burned in California a couple years back where you had entire houses and some trees gone, some tree standing and houses next to them gone, and in some cases trees gone but houses still standing. I have a friend whose house was spared in California as were trees on her west side, but her backyard shed and trees were gone to the east side. It's literally the way the wind blows and nothing more.
Have you ever attempted to start a camp fire with wet logs?

Prayers out for all threw this time.May God give strength to endure.Very greatful no lives were lost.and everyone listened to the evacuation notice.May the Holy Spirit bring comfort.and healing.💜🙏
Don't forget to wish on them, WISDOM.
What hit this place? Source of devastation? Looks like it was nuked by airburst.
So this fire only affects a certain area and some homes were spared. Very curious indeed.
My sister barely had enough time to grab a few things (and her dog) and get out after she received a text message from the Boulder County Sheriffs office to evacuate! There were houses across from her apt complex already engulfed in flames when she left. 🥺
Bless her for having the heart to take her dog. Some of these jerks left their animals to die, and took material possessions.
was a super fast grass fire, caught everything on fire in that wind, what a terrible moment in Time! Poor souls...

So devastating for these folks. Seems very odd that trees seemed to have survived.

Exactly how does that work

Almost Routine with Wildfires in Rural Country Areas of California During Fire 🔥Season - But in Winter, in Colorado? 🤔
Very Sporatic Devistation, Yet Other Areas Next Door - Untouched! 😳🤔
For such powerful Winds the trees are in very good shape. Those standing next to burned out houses are untouched it appears.
10:56 tiny people in the middle of the street hugging. Heartbreaking.
1000 homes burned on this day, rough estimate was around 3-400 dogs and or cats died but you dont hear about that very much ! brings a tear to my eyes!!!
that one house standing at 8:43 is just eerie
That house survived most likely belonged to a die hard dummycrat. The other homes most likely belonged to Trump supporters
@@robertmckinlay6002 the fuk u doin here tryna politicize a wildfire?
Our former house which we left in 99, when our house was gutted by a gas furnace explosion, was only a few blocks from Marshall Road & this devastating fire. Glad we moved to Baltimore where these types of fires are very rare. Still have family in the county in a different area.
John Denver sang "they tried to tear the mountain down to bring in a coulpe more people, more scars upon the land"
He had house in the mountais and a giant gasoline tank he kept for himself...
stunning footage, thank you Denver-7
Is there anyway a developer can get these residents closer together?
I’ve seen closer new subdivisions!
I'm surprised how big some of the yards are... especially compared to new subdivisions in my area today
Those are standard housing lots, the same size as across the US in residential areas for well over half a century. The wind and fire wouldn't have cared if the lots were twice as big. It still would've ripped right through.
there musts be place for the golf course
Happens every 5 yrs in Australia, went to school with kids whos families lost everything then my mum was burnt out due to power lines,
So we are with you Colorado in our fire season too❤❤🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲
Don't come here with your Australian crap. We Americans don't need your sympathy.
Praying for all.
unreal...prayers
My family in Denver said its been 250 days since last snow. Its supposed the be blizzards today. Fire and Ice weather conditions, it sounds biblical to me.
That's thrue no dough about it and its going to get worse all over the world time to look for god soon the earth will be a paradise
It IS Biblical... gets more interesting, pray all the way kiddies!
How did those few houses go untouched amongst all those burned out?
Tragic.
Ooo, my word, this is very sad to see happen. What a horrible way to have to spend the holidays. I hope all the families and their pets are OK. And to the families that may have lost loved ones, I feel sorry for your loss.
Does anyone see any similarity to the Paradise fires? this doesn't look at all natural to me.
have you heard of leaving your house. you should try it
and the Camp Fires. Now remember the ds has forewarned us all they plan to steal our suburbs, that is what is going on, I am convinced of this, I have seen all the evidence. We can't let them win, must vanquish every single one of them. Lets go Brandon!
