I have a few professional certificates, Real Estate, Cybersecurity, PMI and a few more. All certificates I use for work, I have 2 jobs.
Anyway, I have lots of pdu/cpe. different name, but all the same. I need classes to renew my certificates. That said, some of them overlap, like I can use cybersecurity and PMI on the technical side, and I can use some real estate classes on the strategic or leadership side. bottom line is, I've never had a problem using other courses not in the PMI website.
Thank you for sharing. Only difference is, you need to manually input the PDUs for external resources other than PMI websites.

Renewal is also valid for next 3 years after expiry of certification , if I earn 60 PDUs in next 3 years .

I had quick questions around READ, can it be other books on project management or just the whitepaper/articles? I read Cracking the PM interview and Lean Analytics, can I report those? If I can, How would I break up those PDUs in the three areas - is it an approximation?
Yes you can! There is a section in the CCU Renewal document as mentioned in the video. Read it and you will know the process. Do an equal distribution across the 3 areas as be reasonable in the # of hrs you report.

If you do see this, I wanted to ask, once we've achieved 60/60 PDUs required, is there any process i need to do (or button on the PMI website i need to click or something) to "renew" the PMP for another 3 years? or is it automatic? Cause my 3 years ends this December (Dec 2023).
Hi Chris, great to know that you passed the exam :)
After you have completed reporting 60/60 PDUs, you need to pay for the renewal fees. I remember it's roughly $120 for another 3 year validity on your certification.
Details are quite self-explanatory on your PDU reporting dashboard of PMI.

You need to understand that whichever certification you do, it should sync with 2 things: firstly your industry and then your work experience. Eg. let’s say you are in the construction industry, then definitely you don’t do a PMI-Agile certification, right?

Yes, absolutely. You can report them in the 'Online or Digital Media'. Keep the certificates for record.

Hi. For Scrum training from an ATP, please ask them how many PDUs you should report....keep the proof as well.
It's delightful to watch this video to gather useful information to renew my PDUs.
Apart from this, I have one doubt, If I have earned more than one PMI certificate, whether these 1st 60 PDU will be enough to renew all Certificates together, or independently I have to go for each Certificate renewal with separate PDUs (like for PMP-60 PDU, RMP-30 PDU, and so on...). Also please share the link if you have any video related to PMI local chapter working philosophy or, how it works.

Yes, absolutely. It is OK. There is nowhere mentioned in the PMI manual that the videos should come from paid sources :) Go for it...

I’m looking to add my PDUs in the system. So, I’ve given several information sessions on select PM topics of interest to my group at work.
This would be researching and preparing a PPT then giving a presentation on the topic.
How would you suggest claiming? Here is the scenario: 1 hour (giving back - giving a presentation) plus another 3/4hour (giving back - create content).
Would this make sense and be acceptable?
Hi Camelia, yes that should be acceptable. Make sure you keep a proof of the activity (am official email confirmation from your manager will do) in case PMI audits this claim at a future date.

Hi Rohit. No, there is no such limit. You can earn as many as you want. But there are limits on how many you can USE to renew your certification based on EDUCATION PDUs and GIVING BACK PDUs as discussed in this video!
Thanks Ray! One question, why did you fill only 3 PDUs regarding reading the pmbok 7 if the book is really big? 3 is the maximum for this topic?
Hi Alexandre, the 3 PDUs are with the assumption that I read & assimilated the overall contents of the book in summary. Even if I read it cover-to-cover....it could have easily got me 10 PDUs...but I didn't report that just because that way PMI can question my reading effectiveness if an audit happens...always be a bit conservative while reporting PDUs.

Hi Javed. Unfortunately not. You need to pay the fees AND get the 60 PDUs as well within 3years of certification to get your PMP renewal done in a PMI approved way.

Hi Shwas, that depends on what volunteering you are doing. Mind that ONLY approved PMI volunteering options would count for PDU. And in that case, PMI would provide you upfront with the # of PDUs you can claim via that option. External volunteering generally don't count.

Hi Shwas, if the PMI Chapter tells you that there is a cap, then might as well stick to it. 8 PDUs should be enough for 1 channel. It's always a good idea to diversify your PDUs across different channels.

Yes, that's correct. I reported it myself. But don'r report more than 2-3 PDUs on that just to be on the safe side of audit.

Hi Nazim, congrats on passing the PMP Exam! Please note that you can only report PDUs from project management based courses & modules which you have taken AFTER....I repeat...AFTER you have achieved your PMP certification. Hence, your master's degree course may not be eligible for PDU reporting.

Yes, you can claim the same provided that you have downloaded the course completion certificate on Udemy and kept it in your files for reference.
