1- depends if you are naturally introverted/ have hobbies to do by yourself/ want to homeschool kids 2- as a worker my identity is being a slave. no problem shaving that off 3- no boss, no alarm clock, not asking for permission to go see my wife/kids. that's what i really want. it is retirement. 4- grind is worth it. I'd rather sacrifice 10 years of my life to get to FIRE than working for 40 years and eventually dying before ever being able to enjoy life as a 31 year old on track to be able to retire by 33 and be able to support a family of 4+ this is definitely worth it
This approach won’t be for everyone. You may find that you get bored in retirement, but that’s okay because you’ll have options. Good luck with early retirement
I've found that doing volunteer work I enjoy, with people I like, for organizations I support to be a good way to help improve my life. I used to work 60+ hours a week at a stressful job but now only work 40 hours and volunteer for 5 - 10 hours. Eventually I plan to only work part-time and do more volunteer work. Volunteering gives me the benefits of doing meaningful work without the drawbacks of most paid work like stress, tasks I don't enjoy, and lack of flexibility.

I like the idea of semi-retirement to stay active and engaged while earning at least some money.
Agreed! There’s a lot to like about it!
Excellent video. Part time is best for me!
Thank you! That’s Awesome! Are you working part time? And if so, how long have you been part-time.
@Fioneers scaling down to 0.8 from January, then to 0.6 in due course. I am 53

That seems like a better balance. How did you figure out this worked better for you?
