Allen's Hummingbird Babies Prepare and Leave the Nest TIMELAPSE

We have been able to follow “Sapphire” our mother Allen’s hummingbird and her babies that our community named "Aqua and Amethyst”.
Fortunately, both babies in Sapphire’s third clutch were healthy and growing rapidly. Let's watch as Aqua and Amethyst prepare to leave the nest and fledge out into the world.
22 days after hatching these little chicks looked ready to leave. Aqua, the braver of the two, went on a little excursion down the string of. lights.
Sapphire continued to feed them at regular intervals. She’s such a good mother!
Little Amethyst lost her balance and almost fell out of the nest, but fortunately, she managed to get back in.
It seemed as though Aqua felt the nest was too small the both of them, so after one last flap Aqua fledged successfully.
Little Amethyst had two choices: stay alone in the nest all night or follow Aqua. She made her decision and followed Aqua to the world beyond the nest.
We wish them the best and congratulate Sapphire, our mother of the year.
This is Sapphire's third clutch. Both eggs hatched successfully on May 14.

This is an Allen's Hummingbird which normally breeds on the West coast of the United States and Mexico, although the bird has been spotted in other areas of the southern United States.
❓When did the mother hummingbird laid her eggs?
The first egg of her second clutch was laid on March 15 and the second on March 17.
The first egg of her first clutch was laid on January 26 and second on January 29.
❓How long do hummingbirds incubate their eggs?
Hummingbirds incubate the eggs for 15 to 18 days.
❓How many clutches do hummingbirds have?
Hummingbirds in Southern California usually have two to three clutches each season.
❓When do baby hummingbirds open their eyes?
It usually takes more than a week for a baby’s eyes to open. On average, a newborn’s eyes are open 9 days after he has hatched.
❓What is the nest made from?
The nest is made from grasses and small twigs filled in with soft and fluffy fiber that the mother hummingbird finds on fuzzy plants like seed pods, dandelion down, cottonwood and the like. The nest is held together with spider silk and is soft and spongy to accommodate the rapidly increasing size of the baby birds. To camouflage the nest she put paint chips on the outside to try to blend in with the house.
