Honestly idgaf having these serial killers older kinda makes them more terrifying and gives a sense of mystery to them. Like the new Halloween films. Having a older LeatherFace would be such a cool idea. Hope they don’t mess this up… the past Texas chainsaw films haven’t been that great.

Texas chainsaw 2013 did this same concept , cut out all sequels and make the new movie the current #2. That movie didn’t do to well tho cuz they forgot to make the timeline match up with the actors age and technology used in the film
Trying to chainsaw somebody to the floor in a massive crawlspace is pretty ineffective. She could literally just move to the side. That being said sing the Netflix logo at the bottom makes me wish this was more of a TV series were they can flush out the villains really well and give us a lot of backstory and one concise and consistent telling.
There's really nothing to it though. With a story like TC there's a really limited space for exploration without just making a duplicate of a sequel. That's why TC is one of the lesser horror franchises

Let's say Leatherface in 1974 was the same age as the actor that portrayed him Gunnar Hansen and they were both 27 years old in 1974. So if 48 years have passed since 1974 till 2022, Leatherface should be 75 years old. Do they expect me to believe that a 75 year old man can run and catch young teens? give me a break....
If you're reading that much into a TCM film you probably need to change genres to some more sophisticated or simply not fictional to match your expectations.

Oh yes the one movie I’ve been looking forward to than any other movie I will definitely watch The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974 the night before this is released watch the original and this back to back nights together I cannot wait to see this movie and I think this will be my second or third favorite Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie and hopefully it’s better than Texas Chainsaw 3D that direct sequel is bad I have very high expectations for this movie.
I'm guessing that Texas Chainsaw 3d (2013), which I'll be calling TC3d, still exists in this timeline, and the elderly but wierd woman is Heather Miller (which just goes to show just how much she has adapted to life with Leatherface) and Sally says '50 years I've been waiting for this night to see him', and TC3d says '40 years later' which implies this movie takes a decade after TC3d, it must be wierd that Heather was born in 1974, but 40 years later she's still 27, then a decade later she is in her 50's, how messed up is that timeline. Anyway in the post credits scene we se Heather's adopted parents come to take up some of the inheritance , get jump scared by Leatherface with a chainsaw, so I think we'll see their body decomposing after 10 years, (you'll ask why Leatherface didn't eat them, maybe Heather refused him to eat them). Edit: I'm guessing they are in another house either to keep an eye on the public or Heather wants to live separate from Leatherface. Any other theories?

They did make the backstory. Leatherface came out in 2017 and Is a prequel about his how he became a killer. The remake also has it's own prequel called TCM the beginning

I was excepting more about his youth, school, his jobs, living in the basement etc. Even more deaths in his youth towards his teenage years. I’m curious of the details and I’m sure that would be more valuable than the ol’ teenage kill them all movie. We have enough of those.

Please don't do the thing that all the sequels did where they make him into some unstoppable force of nature, just ripping of Halloween. The whole shtick in the original was that he wasn't supernatural. That he was in some ways mentally and physically handicapped (in the lost-his-marbles and moves stuttered and janky kind of way). That there was a humiliation and pathetic portrayal of him with the family yet still a real threat in most scenes. That and his reaction to losing at the end made for an interesting character, not one by the books
Agreed. For some reason everyone sees leatherface as nothing more than a hulking slasher character, when that couldn't be further from the truth. The original is far more realistic and gritty compared to the rest.
