I have to be honest..... When I first heard the song on the radio, I didn't really like it. Felt it was really self indulgent and bear in mind, im not an American so didn't know any of the political references made in this. I randomly came across a reaction video to this song where the lady reacting broke down in tears and called it powerful.....I still didn't get it, so I searched for a video explaining the meaning. I found your video and watched it.... Thank god I did because now it all makes sense and I have a new found respect for this song and even greater admiration for Beyonce more than I had before (which was already immense). Thank you so much for your analysis, and I read in the comments that you created this for an assignment. I hope you got the highest grade possible, because (and tell your tutor this) you have educated people across the world about the social injustice that unfortunately still occurs today against the African American community, all through your explanation of a song and it's video I never would have understood.
