      ya i watch all the offroad channels and just laugh at how bad they are. if not for the multi-mode traction settings, lockers and people holding their fucking hands, none of them would know what to fucking do or how to crawl over rocks.

    Man, thanks for sharing! brings back memories of the pre-pirates era, stock-ish rigs and tons of fun!! Haven't seen so many chrome covers on Dana 30's in at least 25 years HaHa! After wheeling many years with big tires, ect. just ran the Rubicon again 3 weeks ago on 7.50-16 bias plies, and had a BLAST!

    I just got off the Rubicon. Basically 75% of the rigs were on tons and 40s. Takes the challenge out of it

    I'm doing the rubicon next year in my Jeep, no front locker on 33's and the one thing I need for the Journey....a cow bell.

    Its crazy to see how much the trail has xhanges since then 😮. Cool rigs getting it done, sine looked like they had street tires😅

    Back before 40" holes were dug by unskilled throttle jockeys trying to compensate. 265/85r16 with stock suspension and a grin plastered on your face!

    Fun to see the stockish Jeeps go where people think you need a $100000 Jeep on 40s.

    • @hrdrokn
      @hrdrokn  9 місяців тому

      Definitely... although I think these rigs would be up against it on todays Rubicon!

      @@hrdrokn i used to drive those trails in California in my 74 cj5 on 31s. This was early 90s. Have the trails gotten significantly harder? Like from erosion and being driven?

      It had a lot more gravel back then. Early 2000s were the big boulders. Now it’s in between the two, but It’s a lot harder now then in this video

      As I watch this I'm noticing some cool things here. Starting in gear, and the fact most of these are manuals. Lots of gear in those smaller jeeps, and trash bags on the rear long before sak-its or trasharoos. I also like cameras with zooms, something go pros lack.

    • @hrdrokn
      @hrdrokn  9 місяців тому +1

      @@cw50must Yes, the manual was the preferred trans in those days.... I still run a manual today, no clutch, start and stop in gear. The blue CJ7 was running about 74 to 1 in low range. Today I prefer 85 to 130 to 1 for a manual.

    All these crappy AMC era straight sixes with their garbage single barrel carbs that flood if you look at them sideways!!! I know, we had one!
