I have been following you on tabelu you are one of the best I want to learn tableu from. You let me know if you provide remote training.. I would also like to take certification
Thanks for the great video Andy. I am facing a challenge though, as soon as I drag the Rank function between Region and Sub-Category the percentage of total values disappear and I am not able to understand why or how to resolve this. Can you please help what's wrong?
Hi Andy, I wish to use this approach in my interactive tooltip on a map which I have discovered from one of your other videos, thanks! If I wanted to display the latest top N (last date) for say region how would this work with a context filter? Can I use LAST()==0 on the filter shelf and set it to TRUE?
This is very similar to one question in the Tableau Professional Certification Exam guide, I wonder if I may use INDEX() for ranking here too. Thank you!
Hi Andy, have you any tutorial to show in the same chart something like the Top 90% of and the Bottom 10% of sales (thinking in individual products EAN)?
for anyone trying to do this in 10.3, there is no more advanced option. you just get a pop up window and you might need to click and drag your dimension to order them. for example, it might show sub category above category so the restarting option doesn't give you cateogry. just click and drag
Great video, but is it possible to show top 5 and then group all of the others as “others”? I need to show top 4 SKU that represent 80% of sales, but also group other 20sku that sum up the other 20% of sales.
This video was of great help by just solving my purpose(showing top N values dynamic to filters). It would be good to know if there is a way to show total % of top N too. Thanks a lot Andy!
If you want to recalculate the percentage then you can filter the subproduct directly without creating any table calculations. I mean filter subproduct by topN using parameter
+sateesh p if you watch the video, you'll see that I created a T/F calc for Rank to Show. I choose the True and what tableau is doing is basically "hiding" the false. This works because it's a table calculation and the order of operations stipulate that this filter be applied AFTER the % of total calc.
@@vizwiz thanks Andy, would you be able to demonstrate that at all? Essentially what I’m looking for is parameter A to control two different measures, so measure 1 and measure 2.

So I have an issue regarding identical rankings for Suppliers.... these suppliers have the same value for overall percentage. How do I provide unique rankings to the suppliers with the same percentage? Ex. (below is example how it shows, with multiple suppliers showing ranking #1) Vendor Name Rank XYS, Inc. 1. Atonomouse 1. CCGT 1. Gulpeht 1. Can anyone help with this problem?

Hi Andy - can a single parameter control two calculated fields simultaneously? Many thanks
Absolutely. Just refer to the parameter inside the calculated field.
