Always useful videos, inspired me to live stream a music production class yesterday!
That's awesome! Good luck to you!
I prefer you all to stream on UA-cam until you get 100k subs or something and then start to stream on twitch I think it will help.
Why is that ?
@@TotalWarKS I think its so you build a fanbase so you can have a kickstart in your twitch career
@@moneydzns2594 yeah thats definitely a good way to do it
tl;dr : make content on youtube, then streams on twitch. (Understandable, right?)
Do people watch streams that’s not strictly gaming? I want to steam but I don’t have gaming set up. But I do makeup🙂
This video helped solidify some theories I had on my journey. Great video. Subbed. 👍
Thanks Dan! I was just wondering what to stream on the other day, this really helps.
Glad I could help!
i have streamed for the first time yesterday (on UA-cam) and so was wondering where was best. Thanks Dan and Vidiq team!
According to legends;
"UA-cam is the FATHER of Twitch"
Hmmmmm
Haha lol
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
UA-cam is god father of all social apps
Well
Thank you for this! This has help me to decide that steaming on youtube will probably be the best platform for what I want to do making videos on demand and possibly streaming on the side.
I have been streaming on Twitch for 2 and a half years. I average about 20 viewers and I have heard people enjoy my content. I want to move from it being a part time thing to a full time gig but I struggle with discoverability on Twitch. I am really thinking about trying to stream on UA-cam. Thanks for the information!
I started making videos on UA-cam, and would occasionally stream on UA-cam. However, the community that was watching me on UA-cam asked if I would stream on Twitch. I switched over about 2 months ago. I never got the same number of viewers on Twitch as I did on UA-cam, but the simplicity of Twitch being ONLY for streaming seemed to work better. Setting up a stream in UA-cam is a huge pain vs Twitch, which is just your home page.
So I have been planning a livestream trivia gameshow (with cash and prizes) and was planning on doing it on Twitch but realized the discoverability problem there and figured I’d have to make a UA-cam channel anyway to build up an audience and then try to push them to twitch to play the trivia game. But now after watching this video I am thinking i might as well just do the trivia gameshow on UA-cam Live instead. It will be an easier transition for the audience since they are already on UA-cam.
Thank you for this video super helpful!
I think the best answer like you said is it depends. The main thing I see people doing is making videos from parts of livestreams, and those tend to do really well. You can find success on both, but the main objective is standing out.
Thanks for watching, AndrewMycol! It really just varies creator to creator. :)
Hey Vidiq! Your videos are always the best and I always look forward to them!
Hey, thanks!
Great video! I was on Mixer for 10 months, but then it shut down....Now, I did 1 full month on Twitch and I'm looking seriously at YT Gaming...!
This is really helpful because I stream on twitch and not at all on UA-cam, going to go with the switch and do everything on UA-cam. Thank you!
Glad we could help!
I've been streaming a UA-cam for a few months and my channel has had some rapid growth because of that. But I do love to make video content as well but when I don't have the time to edit I can just sit back and hang out playing Smash Bros with my viewers. Twitch is a great idea when you want to play something else to create other content on the side! Thanks, VidIQ for the tips!
I used to stream on twitch for 2 years (gaming only) and grew a decent following. At some point I decided to drop it altogether. Now we make UA-cam videos and growing a channel from scratch here seems a lot more difficult compared to the Twitch journey but we both know it’ll be incredibly rewarding and fulfilling!
👍😀
Thanks, I appreciate this info.
About 2 years ago I finally got to 1k I'm happy bec you help me out thank you for sharing your videos on UA-cam to help people out love it my friend
congratulations 😁i started my channel recently
i actually lived steam on both but spend most of my steaming time on UA-cam cause i dont have an extra Monitor yet to go live ..so i have my twitch on hold til i get me one but my friends tells me all the time, im better off on UA-cam, cause its a better platform and by the way nice video bro 😊👍
Could you do a tutorial on how to get a start /end screen for your stream?
Thanks for this video :) kinda been contemplating which is the best :) but ey we just have fun either way :)
Hey Dan, Sal here. Great, informative video on finding the platform that works best for you.
I record for UA-cam and have since mid-July 2019 I started streaming on Twitch in November 2019 too, but I am wondering about moving my streaming to UA-cam too and have all my content on here.
Thanks a lot man, this will help a lot. I only just started last week making gaming videos :)
I just started making content. I've streamed on both platforms and I genuinely can't decide where to stream. Videos on YT and posting to social media is a must. However, streaming on UA-cam vs Twitch is so hard for me. I feel like I like the community on Twitch is better. Plus, I feel subscribers and donations are more common on Twitch as well. You can't go into content expecting money, especially early on, but it is definitely a factor. As a viewer, does anybody have an opinion on your preferred viewing platform?
>twitch
>better community
@ItsJayDub I totally get it. I remember I used to search up so many youtube videos on how to stream to UA-cam. On twitch it’s a lot more easier. If ur on mobile, pc, PS4 or Xbox then twitch is the right platform for you to use. This is just my opinion, it’s entirely your choice on what you want to stream on.
Most of my channel is based around streaming on YT. And I'm happy that you are starting to talk about streaming since a lot of the content on this channel doesn't fully apply to me since I stream.
Let’s support each other’s channels
I think build an audience on UA-cam and later on make the jump to Twitch is the move. I think is harder to be found on Twitch with a lot of big streamers with solid fanbases and a lot of people playing the popular games (but you can always play some games people dont play as much to stand out and get a couple of viewers). You can stream on Twich and later upload videos of your best plays or games to UA-cam to keep both platforms running.
Solid content as always you inspire me to keep working hard on my channel
going to try this out, I think it is better to stream on twitch and then do stream highlights on youtube to tell people what can happen on your streams.
Thank you very much for sharing
This was informative I was thinking where I should do it
Thank you, Gabby Tech! We love to hear that. Thanks for watching!
VidIQ you are so good at your work Thanks for this info

Wow so funny I was just looking this up yesterday and now there is a video ! Thanks Vidiq and no I have never lived stream and I’m already subscribed with bell on and reminders for whenever you go live lol 😂
Hope you enjoyed it! haha happy to help!
vidIQ lol I’m still watching it . I put it on my tv so that I can comment from my phone 😂😂🤦🏾♀️ but one thing I did not here dan mention is can you stream on twitch with under 1k subscribers ?
Great video thank you 😀 -- I stream on multiple platforms. Main is youtube - I use streamyard for broadcasting. Streamed on facebook, periscope(for twitter) and twitch -- I make art videos, abou drawing and art exams. My new plan is to make long broadcasts twitch and edit it for youtube -- so I can make better audience management.
Love this channel 😊
Glad you enjoy it! :)
This is awesome 👏 thank u
“Ok you know what, that can be a little confusing because in sales, ABC means Always Be Closing”
I hear that! ABC all the way, picture yourself at a table with the customer surrounded by doors, close those doors one by one and you have locked it down
You were in the parking lot earlier, that's how I know you!
I I I I’m staying alive
Facebook gaming, is a good one for streaming too.. thx for this info.. ❤️
Even with content out on my channel. It's tough getting your name out there in the UA-cam community.
Perseverance is key
Bro your thumbnails are not very thoughtful or eye catching, you dont have a channel banner and you except to get your name out? Not being rude just saying you need to try harder.
Never live streamed...trying to figure out the best way to start a channel!
First. Thanks for another epic and helpful video yet again.
*I LOVE VIDIQ*
Nicely done!
Ur second bruh
@@vidIQ Hey
YOU ARE FIRST
@@buddy_roo426
I'm first. Check the comments, filter "newest" and scroll to the bottom. I'm first
What do you think of having a second youtube channel for streaming and maybe highlights?
Yes streamed on all 3 mostly twitch. I do UA-cam videoes, might change to ONLY UA-cam for both videos and streaming.
I've been live streaming on youtube for quite a while now and I don't know if streaming constantly is helping or hurting my channel as well as the fact that my channel is basically all past live streams. Should I be unstinting my live streams?
I've never live streamed or made bids but I might do it. I'll play on my ps4. Streaming sounds/looks fun and entertaining for me and viewers
I think both are good. Right now I'm on youtube. And just hoping for the best
I think we can start from UA-cam. When your channel is kind of bigger, you can go on Twitch to promote your UA-cam channel too.
I've seen a lot of UA-cam streamers move to Twitch because allegedly UA-cam buckets channels to streaming channels and video channels. If it deems you a streamer, it will push your streams into recommend and less so your videos. Same works the other way around, where if you mostly upload videos, your streams may not be pushed to recommended. I haven't read up on this but I've seen maybe 5-7 gaming channels switch from UA-cam streams to Twitch since they value their video content on their channel more.
Not to mention your watch time ratio gets ALL messed up when you stream on UA-cam. Then they stop recommending your videos as much
Gav Hern make a second acc then, that’s what I did
@@mylothebeatlesfan7013 Do your viewers go to your other channel?
Cobra Jay well I’ve just made it a few days ago..so nothing has happened yet, I will tell me viewers about it In 2 days, than I will stream.
Cobra Jay ill tell u how it goes.
I'm considering starting to stream. I don't know to much about it but if think it's be best to do a combo of stream/record. Stream on twitch (referring to gaming) and record it then post to UA-cam. Once enough footage is gathered make montage styles videos then add them to the UA-cam channel. The views from UA-cam will direct people to your twitch. Just my thought. I don't know if it'd work
just stumbled on this video, for anyone wondering I would say start on UA-cam and build an audience. Once you do that then branch to Twitch. The way it is right now you can buy your affiliate status for a monthly sub which should unlock donations and other ways to make money. But no reason to be an affil with no audience.
Question..I only have a limited time weekly.. with a full time job. Will streaming do better than drop shipping plus the costs of both which is more ideal?
Wonderful video 👾
a useful video, as usual, I mostly like streaming on twitch than on youtube
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for sharing and best of luck to you!
For starters in Gaming, i guess UA-cam and UA-cam Live are better if you intend to upload some Gaming records/streaming occasionally or not for free (like every 2-3 months)
although in UA-cam, you can watch your past streams years later if you want
and Twitch is better if you only intend to spend a lot of time streaming videogames often or to get some money (like daily or weekly)
Hi ninja! Im sure your reading this to base your decision on either twitch or youtibe
Very helpful !
I think I might use both platforms for streaming once I have a pc that can handle streaming well
Both for me
UA-cam, heard about twitch but never used or know much about it. I may have to check it out, never hurts to diversify.
Indeed! Thanks for watching!
@@vidIQ my pleasure, you are one of my fav channels (featured)! :)
Very biased but alright
VidIQ!! I have a video request: could you make a video on how to come back to your UA-cam channel from a ‘break’. If you already have a video like this it would be really nice if I could know :)
searched for this for a long time, no video at all for this specific case. would be really nice ^^
ofc youtube! I've learnt a lot of stuff from youtube. i am even growing a channel at youtube.
Very interesting man
Yes, I'am currently on Utube, and within the past two years on Twitch.
I was thinking to do a live stream cooking, do you think its a good idea?
Well there are categories on both sites. I would just do some tests! Never hurts!
vidIQ thanks you 😀
Katylicious yes!
Spoiler: UA-cam. 👍
i like youtube, the contents and videos. but not the comments, so many cringe people and repeated jokes.
@@natural9721 Fair point, but Twitch has that as well.
@@KesGaming true but twitch comments are more mature than youtube comments. twitch audiences in the chat were having fun and they made the chat entertaining. youtube chat tried to be like twitch but not really, just a normal chat wanted to be entertained on live video.
@@KesGaming if you've been on youtube for a long time than twitch. then i'm not judging your opinion. you like youtube better? keep your opinion onto yourself, you do you.
😡
6:25 UA-cam supports having multiple channels, e.g. one for fixing cars, another for animal crossing.
We stream on UA-cam every Monday night. I have heard that Twitch has far more freedoms when it comes to content. I've been thinking about switching to Twitch but I'm not sure how many of our subscribers would migrate over... :/
I wanted to stream on Twitch, but it’s kind of menacing because everyone on there looks so professional
Ima warn you twitch has some rules I think for partners if you be a partner for twitch you will be forbidden from streaming on youtube
@@SASSY-tw6mv that is right alpha gaming just left twitch as a partner because his contract ended to stream on UA-cam.
Because yt is best in al criteria
Twitch viewers are loyal tho
nice video and it is very useful
Great Video!
I am legally blind and I am currently live streaming on UA-cam. Thank you for the tutorials it has really helped me so thank you. I started the channel three weeks ago and currently have 300 subscribers. Thank you again.
Great job. Keep up the good work 👍
I’m currently about 7 1/2 minutes into this video, and you’ve just talked about how a car mechanic streaming animal crossing might not be the best idea (on UA-cam). I do a lot of different things on my UA-cam channel, and have been wanting to add gaming streams or pre-recorded gaming session videos into my channel because it’s another thing I’m interested in doing and am hoping it will help bring more eyes to my channel. Since to this point I haven’t done this (my channel is about a year old but I’m only just now starting to get really serious about it, since Covid has given me plenty of time to pursue things I actually care about), would you say it would be to my detriment to start posting those videos to UA-cam? Do you think I should make a twitch account and start streaming/posting to twitch instead?
UA-cam all the way!
(Started my channel 1 month ago and already passed 200 subs 😎)
Thanks for watching, Famous Flesh!
Famous Flesh not everyone has that luck so your not right
vidIQ A pleasure :)
YuTi luck and maybe content ;)

There's pros and cons to both. I personally prefer to watch streams on Twitch, meaning that I usually stream on Twitch. I usually watch specifically videos on UA-cam, so I focus on making videos on UA-cam. That's just what I do though. I think Twitch is better for streaming at the current time
Thanks for sharing! :)

That can be a fantastic strategy!
How? As a Twitch Partner you aren't allowed to stream on YT. As an Affiliate you can't dualstream. Am I wrong?
@@TigerLeeYT yes you're absolutely right but is he twitch partner?
@@TigerLeeYT idk

Thank you for sharing, Shipra Dutta. Best of luck to you!
I haven't livestreamed on any of the platforms yet but I would like to start, but I feel like I'll need to gain some sort of traction on one of the platforms in order to start broadcasting. But I guess you can approach these things differently
Would you say creating a UA-cam channel focussed solely on RPG content would be beneficial with a live streaming section focused on fortnight and or Apex? Or are these 2 genres too disconnected from each other?
I think most gamers have delved into BR's however do think they hold there own neiche. I'd recommend the method of keeping your UA-cam channel dedicated to RPG content and then maybe stream on Twitch for the others as your sort of "chill time" Just my two cents as someone who consumes a lot of both! Best of luck :)
My channel is based around ‘Super Mario Maker 2’. When I stream, it’s here on UA-cam to play some viewer levels or just other levels in general.
Cool!
I’ve live streamed on UA-cam. I actually got some new viewers by that! Great video btw!
Awesome! Thank you!
May have to get into twitch too 😤
I first started out streaming on Twitch. I was watching videos on how to grow bigger on Twitch, and one of the only ways to grow bigger on Twitch these days is if you start to make a UA-cam channel. So I made a UA-cam channel.
I thought that maybe I would grow bigger on Twitch if I make videos on UA-cam that are based on Let’s Plays, full play throughs, and making parts of videos that are from my streams on Twitch. I am still struggling to grow on Twitch. And I grow bigger on UA-cam.
Maybe the reason why I’m still struggling to grow on Twitch is because there are bigger streamers than me who have been on Twitch a lot longer than I have. I just need more time to grow on Twitch, and keep doing what I’m doing, and just jeep having fun.
Jokes on you I stream on twitch then take a part out of the stream and then post it
Oh yeah, we've seen that a lot. Good luck to you!

I want to edit videos and post on youtube since the free editing softwares aren't reliable and recently all the softwares I used crashes and thats why i want to stream and when I think of stream I think of twitch and I downloaded it but it was very complicated so I'm trying to find which is better.
