Where’s the “drama”? Someone expressed a temporary thought regarding what was arguably a little bit clickbaity video title. No need to get one’s knickers in a twist over it. It’s funny how the drama so often seems to come from the accuser themselves. It’s projection.

@Shirley Curry, your comment is so refreshing, amidst the many shouts in empty air, elsewhere in UA-cam land. I guess I'm on the same page with you, due to a more or less similar age 😉
@@marilynward7681 The person who got permission to build the road probably hasn't done it yet. The neighbors who were giving him grief have been there for a couple of years. Not the same people, by what Shawn said.
I just loved watching you and dog 🐕 omg your day's made my days go fast and happy thanks for your videos your story saved me God bless you and dog 🐕 lolol
This almost broke me, especially when Cali appeared reluctant to say goodbye to “her pond”. It brought me back to the day my family had to say goodbye to our northern Ontario camp/cottage after my father passed away. Wept like a baby then (19 years ago this month actually), weeping like a baby today. All the best Shawn.
When he said c'mon Cali, let's go, the look on her face made my heart hurt a little. Cali reminds me a lot of my brother's Golden and she would've done the same thing. I've seen that look before, that "I'm not leaving my 'thing'. This is MY 'thing'" look.
Long time follower Shawn. Don’t comment much. This cabin/homestead build literally changed my viewing of UA-cam to what it is today. Before you, Cali, and this adventure, I brushed off YT. Thanks for sharing.
I love thinking that what you have built will still be standing just like this 100 years from now. That young child moving in will be profoundly changed by this experience and perhaps they will be the one's looking back on their lifetime reminiscing about the man who was never meant to stay there and somehow built the most perfect home for them to grow up in. The home they now watch their great grandkids growing up in too, still splashing in Cali's Pond. Your blood, sweat and tears invested in this magical place will live on indefinitely.
"51 and starting over" is a very inspiring statement. You're definitely not starting from scratch, you're starting with incredible and irreplaceable experience. Cheers!
I was just approaching 50 when I moved to a new job, in a country where I didn't speak the language, starting a new life with a new woman. That was 17 years ago and may be the best thing that I ever did in my life. Traumatic? Sure. Rewarding? Hell, yeah. Don't worry. Shawn's got this...
How interesting it must be for the new family to not only buy an amazing home, built by hand by a true craftsman but also to have 4 years of videos showing how it was all done & just how much love went into this process... what an awesome legacy they have with their new home 💗 Bitter sweet memories for sure.. I will miss this cabin homestead but I am also delighted to see the new homestead develop..
It must be so heartbreaking to say "goodbye" You worked so hard on that property and accomplished /built a beautiful home. Looking forward to seeing your "new property" develop over the years

No worries dear man; you face your future with whole heart, courage, anticipation, skills, drive...with your family's love and sweet Cali by your side. Blessings!👵🎁💞🐕🎶

@@xploration1437 Because change, like birth, is painful. Yes, there is something good coming next but leaving the past behind brings on a sense of nostalgia. I've loved watching the old homestead becoming what it was, so I will miss seeing what could have been if things had gone differently. The forest kitchen was my favorite so I'm truly sad to be unable to see more of it, although I am very curious about what will happen next in the new homestead.
Not to mention all the video footage Shawn has of this wonderful place! I am grateful that he has taken us all on this journey over the last 4 years and I'm sure looking forward to the next chapter in his life!

This isn't goodbye, this is good karma & the soul that built this place with his blood, sweat & tears will live on in the warmth of the wood that surrounds this new family ♥️
I was actually really shocked by how different it looked and felt going back this time, but It really wasn’t the same. I personally don’t like leaving things/places for sentimental reasons but I think this shows how right it is for you to be moving on and the character of the new land already feels good.
In just the past several months that Shawn has been focusing on the new homestead, the old homestead no longer looks 'lived in'.....Does not take long for nature to try to reclaim its land when somebody is not there maintaining it on a daily basis. I was figuring that Shawn would not sell the old homestead until he had the new cabin built.....He is basically camping out at the new homestead in the meantime although he did build a sleeping loft in the workshop as a backup in the meantime.
I don’t really comment on UA-cam videos, neither am I an emotional person. However, today I want to make an exception. This is not just a bitter sweet moment for you and your family but potentially hundreds of thousands of people around the world. What you have built on this property over the last 4 years goes far beyond not only this cabin or even Canada. You have inspired multiple generations of people to become more aware and appreciative of nature and the outdoors around the world. I already loved the outdoors but through your channels you have taught me an appreciation for my tools and provided with me with inspiration to try new techniques and ideas, one of many examples I could use. I have no doubt that countless other people around the world have had similar expenses and stories to tell, all inspired by you. During the COVID19 pandemic I am sure your videos of nature and the outdoors have provided support to so many, from those key workers needing a moment to escape, to those locked down in major cities unable to explore nature as they once did. It is amazing and heart warming to see your family taking after you. But, rest assured it will not just be your children you have inspired. You have become a second farther to so many around the world. Inspiring and leading us forwards to a better life. Thank you, from the hundreds of thousands of us around the world who wait eagerly for your next video. As you start your new chapter I wish you and your family many years of happiness at your new home.
I watched you build the cabin from the ground up, it has truly been a pleasure. I look forward to watching you new cabin too. I would have loved to have lived in your old cabin. God bless you richly Shawn.🕊🏴❤️

Honestly, I never imagined that I’d be interested (or so invested) in the story of a Canadian woodsman building a homestead on the other side of the planet. Your filmmaking is so professional and the homestead and lifestyle you built, step by step, have been fascinating to witness. Feeling sad that the cabin will no longer be ‘mine’ to enjoy here. Thank you for sharing an epic and authentic documentary series, Shawn. Now for the sequel. 🐨🌷

Its ok if we share our sadness at the end of the time at that cabin at the same time we look forward to the new property & the development of the new homestead.
Seriously though. He needs to be careful with these titles! lol
Where’s the “drama”? Someone expressed a temporary thought regarding what was arguably a little bit clickbaity video title. No need to get one’s knickers in a twist over it. It’s funny how the drama so often seems to come from the accuser themselves. It’s projection.
Shawn James ,
We wish you and your family good luck, health, and a new challenge that will make you happy again.
We have always been impatiently waiting for a new post from you so that we could dive back in, and dream of the beautiful country.
Happy to see you and your friends again, Ludwig and Sieglinde from the country TIROL / AUSTRIA
My heart goes out to you today! Losses are painful, even when we chose them. Circumstances change. God has a new and better plan for you 🐾❤️🙏🌴
I can't help feeling sad but at the same time looking forward to the future.
Goodbye cabin !! We have also been living there for a long time. Good memories forever
It was a pleasure and fulfilling to be a part of your life via UA-cam Shawn! A new chapter of your life begins, great job Sir!!!
Ahhhh.. the memories! I've enjoyed so much watching your building of this homestead! The scenery has been fantastic!! Also I love the music you chose for your videos. I'm enjoying your continuing journey at the new place! :)
@Shirley Curry, your comment is so refreshing, amidst the many shouts in empty air, elsewhere in UA-cam land.
I guess I'm on the same page with you, due to a more or less similar age 😉
Ditto
❤️❤️❤️
Auntie Curry!! What on earth? From two totally different spheres on YT I find two of my fave YT'ers in one spot!
Yes. And this young family would be hard pressed to find a cabin built with the expertise with which this one was built.
my heart achessss thinking about you leaving that kitchen especially!
My thought exactly. That kitchen rocks, but the sauna too. It was an incredible addition to the homestead.
Why did he have to move?
This place is so nice
@@laurafedora5385 Neighbors built a road access right by the cabin and we’re making his life miserable:(
@@marilynward7681 Thank You for Answer! Is too sad...
@@marilynward7681 The person who got permission to build the road probably hasn't done it yet. The neighbors who were giving him grief have been there for a couple of years. Not the same people, by what Shawn said.

Been watching since the cabin started going up bittersweet for alot of people Mr. JAMES
Just thank the traitors to humanity who have control of the military
I just loved watching you and dog 🐕 omg your day's made my days go fast and happy thanks for your videos your story saved me God bless you and dog 🐕 lolol
This almost broke me, especially when Cali appeared reluctant to say goodbye to “her pond”. It brought me back to the day my family had to say goodbye to our northern Ontario camp/cottage after my father passed away. Wept like a baby then (19 years ago this month actually), weeping like a baby today.
All the best Shawn.
♡
When he said c'mon Cali, let's go, the look on her face made my heart hurt a little. Cali reminds me a lot of my brother's Golden and she would've done the same thing. I've seen that look before, that "I'm not leaving my 'thing'. This is MY 'thing'" look.
Yep- she knew....but it's gonna be ok....the new Cabin will be a joy.
The new owners are lucky, you put a lot of sweat into the build and we were entertained watching. I’m intrigued by the new build
💯🎯
Shawn always has inspired philosophy.
Such an expressive and inspiring message full of appreciation, kindness and hope for the future. Bless you. 😊
How interesting it must be for the new family to not only buy an amazing home, built by hand by a true craftsman but also to have 4 years of videos showing how it was all done & just how much love went into this process... what an awesome legacy they have with their new home 💗
Bitter sweet memories for sure.. I will miss this cabin homestead but I am also delighted to see the new homestead develop..
It was a pleasure to watch you build this place and grow along with it.
I know how that last walk down the road feels. I'm learning how the walk down a new road feels. Life is all about the journey.
It must be so heartbreaking to say "goodbye" You worked so hard on that property and accomplished /built a beautiful home. Looking forward to seeing your "new property" develop over the years
4 years went by so quickly. It seem like yesterday. The journey was an amazing one and we are already on this new adventure with you! God continue to bless you Shawn and your beautiful family!🙏
That must have been pretty hard to both film and to talk through. Good on you mate, you and your family deserve a new beginning.
The beavers want you to leave with a smile on your face and a chuckle instead of tears. Four years of hard work is indeed a moment due reflection. No worries dear man; you face your future with whole heart, courage, anticipation, skills, drive...with your family's love and sweet Cali by your side. Blessings!👵🎁💞🐕🎶
You had me choked up.. Anyone who has invested their time walking this road with you through these four years via your your channel understands. Looking forward to the future.
This video is like the last chapter in one of the best books ever written, but it's just the first book in a series... Thank you so much Shawn for offering us this priceless first book!
I've started to read your second one and it's amazing already!
A very good analogy 😀
Well said!
Impossible to watch this without getting teary.
Why?
@@xploration1437 Because change, like birth, is painful. Yes, there is something good coming next but leaving the past behind brings on a sense of nostalgia. I've loved watching the old homestead becoming what it was, so I will miss seeing what could have been if things had gone differently. The forest kitchen was my favorite so I'm truly sad to be unable to see more of it, although I am very curious about what will happen next in the new homestead.
You never really leave a place you love. You take part of it with you and leave part of you behind.
No truer words have been spoken Sue. I find when we leave we are always blessed with more oportunities as well. I loved your statement! 👍🌱❤
Not to mention all the video footage Shawn has of this wonderful place! I am grateful that he has taken us all on this journey over the last 4 years and I'm sure looking forward to the next chapter in his life!
Shawn best of luck to you mate. You are a true craftsman and a very hard worker. I have learnt much from watching you and thank you for that. Have loved sharing your life from this side of the screen. I pray for every success at the new cabin and hope that you and your lovely lady have many years of happiness there without inconsiderate Neighbor’s making your life uncomfortable. Cheers mate and I look forward to sharing your new dream. Best of luck mate. Ken Perth Australia 🇦🇺
This isn't goodbye, this is good karma & the soul that built this place with his blood, sweat & tears will live on in the warmth of the wood that surrounds this new family ♥️
The new cabin will be even better. It’s amazing what you achieved in four years.
It's a journey!
Only four years!
The days were just packed!
Love to you all!
Thank-you!
Between Cali at the pond clearly unsure what to do and the tone in your voice it’s no wonder I teared up. Good luck Shawn, if anyone can remake it better, it’s certainly you.
With one hand the past moves us forward and with the other it pulls us back.
Are you from Oceania?
So sad! You put your heart into that place! Great watching you build it and Callie! God Speed on your future builds.🙏✌

all these memories, we saw you build this place bit by bit.
it will be missed
I can’t imagine how hard this was for you. I cried like a baby when Cali hesitated and wanted to stay at her pond.
😢 Yep. She's such a sweet dog. ✓
You’re a better man than most. You see the positive possibilities for a young family instead of dwelling on why you were compelled to leave it all behind. Thank you for sharing this piece of your history with me (and all the other me’s )
"You comin' or you staying here..." Best way to end this homestead video series and start the next. Love that you allow us to follow you on your journey.
Thanks for sharing, Shawn. That feeling of finalisation after an era where you put so much of your time and effort into building up a space for yourself... It is very familiar to me given something that our household is going through right now due to a health circumstance. Thank goodness your transition is from a good place. Anyway, I look to watching more videos as you build up the other property even more.
I am profoundly sad about this event. But you always said if you could do it again you'd do some things differently. Now you get your chance and we will be there. :')
I was one of the lucky ones who started watching these videos right before the cabin was built. It became a routine when I'd get off a night shift to relax, crack a beer and enjoy the content. Good times.
Wow you've putting a lot of energy, efforts, love, knowledge and time, it is so hard to do it again. I love what you did with such a beautiful place. God bless you and your family 💕.
When I look at all that you’ve built I can’t help but think about all of the thoughts and ideas that ran though your mind while you did it. End of an era.
Your heart is heavy, your voice reflects it. Now you will have a place that your whole family can be a part of if they choose.
Thank you Shawn, thank you Cali ❣️
It was a great adventure watching you both, Cali chasing her toy, and you Shawn building a beautiful home.
Seeing all the joy in you face, when your wife and daughters came for the holiday 💗
I’m sure the family who will be moving there, will have wonderful joy & happiness, like you did in the past.
Just like you will have on the new property ❣️
God Bless your family Shawn, and the family that will settle on the old property 🙏🏾😊
I look forward to your new adventures and Cali having fun and being wild in the woods❤️
As sad as it was for me to see you leave, I can’t imagine the feelings going thru your head. I remember finding your videos those 3-4 years ago and just falling in love with every aspect of them. It’s a good thing for the property to be going to that family.

I know that you will succeed at everything you do in your new homestead, but I'm going to miss this place. Wishing you good fortune, much love, and a healthy, happy life in this newest adventure. Peace to you and yours, always!
Its sad when you leave somewhere that you loved. The new place will be bigger and better Shawn.
Always hard to say goodbye, but the new homestead is already looking like a more ambitious adventure.
Damn... this choked me up. I’ve been watching you since you first started building that cabin and it’s a sad day to see you not have it anymore. That being said I’m looking forward to the new builds at the new property.
I'm 51 also and looking at starting over. You are an inspiration in many ways.
