      Dear IL,
Your videos really inspire me to be a better shooter. Amazing, really with what you can do with the TC Renegade.
How have you done hunting this year with it? I have an old .54 Hawken, that I'm ready to install sights on. ( I'm retired now).
I have a question about the Tang Sight on your rifle. Does the tang need to be drilled and tapped to accommodate the Lyman sight, or can you get a three hole factory tang?
Also, about the front sight you have for hunting specifically; where did you get that?
Appreciate your help sir. I cannot tell you enough how you have motivated me to be proficient in hunting.
      Thanks, sincerely
      Allen Jones

I made a TC Hawken in High School and still enjoy shooting it today. Mine is in 45 cal and is a 1/28 twist for the maxi ball.

I've had this exact gun since the early 1980s. With patched ball 3 shot groups, all shots usually touch at 50 years. It was such a great muzzle loader I bought the TC Pennsylvania Match Rifle with a 1:60 twist, but it was never as accurate as the Hawken.

You are the best muzzleloader shooter I've seen. I don't have your skill or eyes, but I would like to set up my rifles to shoot the best they can. What do you do to the TC Renegades & Hawkens which allows them to shoot so well? You said you "did some tinkering around with it." what was the tinkering? What do you do to accurize these rifles? If you have mentioned this before, I haven't seen it. Thanks.

      My thoughts exactly.
I have a 45 cal. That I've only tried the lee real bullet. Couldn't hit the side of a barn. Into the corner it stays.

@@drewledbetter526 A lot of shooters are having issues with the Lee REAL bullet. I wonder of there isn't enough bearing surface to to keep the bullet engaged in the rifling under heavy loads. Lead bullets are supposed to deform and expand into the grooves of the rifling. My guess is the REAL bullet isn't fully expanding into the rifling.

@@danpatton3891 The R.E.A.L doesn't like to be pushed too hard, they have limited bore contact. Most people willie nillie load 100-120 grains and shoot it. From my experience the R.E.A.L bullet will slip the rifling with 100gns. With 65-75 grains from my Hawken they shoot very well, with 100gns they are all over the place.

I have one of these too, with the exact same sights. I have found that PRB likes minimum charges, and conicals like heavy charges for accuracy. I’m not familiar with the bullet you’re using - where can I find a mold for one?

    Hello IL,
I have a question for you sir about the Lyman Tang Sights.
Did you drill and tap the tang, or find a factory 3 hole tang that would accommodate the sights.
Also, what type of Lee Shaver accoutrements did you use with the Lyman sight?
Thanks Idaho Lewis. Really amazing what you can do with your TC's.
    Allen

Hey Idaho I've noticed you haven't posted any new videos in awhile and am hoping that everything is well with you. Didn't know if you were still doing the forums or not so I decided to try to reach you through here. I have a Thompson Center Verneir peep and was wondering if there is a way to make it click or lock into a repeatable position when placed in the upright position for use. Mine doesn't seem to have a stop so you have to guess if it's in the same exact angle after each shot. It's mounted on a TC Hawken presently but would like to mount it on my Lyman GPR flintlock. Any advice would be appreciated. Your my go to guy for traditional muzzleloaders information. Hope to see some new videos from you soon. Also was wondering why some of your older videos have vanished. Thanks

Is this a "light" powder charge? I typically see guys running 100-120 grains. I thought the rule of thumb was more powder when using a heavier rounds

I really need to get mine out and play but I need some bullets. Wheres a good place to get some to shoot before I get my casting equipment back together and order some molds. I've got 2 54s and a 50. Also a LRH barrel that needs goodies too.

Looks good to go for the ranges most guys will shoot with these.
That bullet is heavier than the standard .50 Maxi. Do you find these 48" twist barrels to run out of stability at a certain yardage? I've seen that your fast twist barrels hold up to 500+ yards..

Give EBAY a look. Some of the people buying them up are parting them out there. You can still put one together for a decent price, depending on what ya find cheaper than than a complete one will cost by a good bit. I still find it hard to believe that not too long ago there were scads, literally piles of these things around that no one wanted. Now they're becoming hens teeth with steep price tags.
