We are still determined to get this done. We are blessed with your support i appreciate you all.
I think it backfired out of the blow off valve and ignited fumes coming out the tank vent just my hypothesis. that blow off valve a little close to the tank vent for all the backfire going on. glad no one was hurt
God won’t put you thru something you can’t handle, everything happens for a reason. I’m glad it happened there instead of you going down the track Brent. I love yah brother hope everything and everyone is well, you’ll bounce back better than before
Jamie is so damn clutch in any high stress situation. The man has nerves of steel when the time comes. Instant action, no freaking out no "oh my god" he just snaps into responder mode.
Wow! Glad y’all are ok, it’s crazy how fast and seemingly out of nowhere it can happen. Just another reminder to everyone watching to keep some extra fire extinguishers around, and remind our friends to be safe when working on cars around fuel!

*Thankfully everyone was okay and the shop was not lost.* Just a suggestion, keep a manual cutting saw on a long pole nearby so you can cut the straps and then push the car outside. I was a firefighter EMT for many years and I've seen homes burn down because they never thought to push the burning car outside. I know you couldn't get to the front straps here. Again, just a thought. UPDATE: Never mind. You just said it at the end. You really need a pole saw and more accessible and bigger fire extinguishers.
My heart SANK when I saw how close Steven was to the explosion/fire. And Jamie is definitely a GREAT person to have around! Jamie still had a game plan for what needed to be done, and was still able to take care of business when it counted. Brent was also on top of things quickly as well. And THIS is what a REAL team looks like. First and foremost, I am glad that everyone is ok. Material possessions can always be replaced, people can''t. Regardless of what happened on this day, it was still a good day because everyone walked away from this situation. Stay safe, and take care guys.
i was behind the camera and legs were on fire .. truly crazy. i just used one extinguisher after another. there was nothing gonna stop us from workin to save it
@PFISpeedtube I didn't know you were right there, it could've been just static electricity from you touching or getting close to something there near the tank!
As much as these guys are going to say “We’re all ok” ..they’re not. And this is going to affect them for a while, This fire, and Tim Gentry’s total loss from their fire down in Tennessee, will change them forever. I know from first hand experience, they will continue to fight this fire for a long time..and they deserve ALL the support we can give them.
I'm glad you and our PFI FAMILY are safe, but definitely 100% props to Jamie. I ain't never seen him move that fast. Guess he has been keeping that lightning speed in his reserve. Much love doggies
@@tma4137 Pathetic!! This guy is here giving positive vibes and all you can do is trash his spelling? You obviously knew what he meant but gotta be the spelling police. Nobody is perfect. PFI fans don’t bash one another or try to bring others down. Hope I didn’t misspell anything. Have a blessed day.
Holy crap. Glad everyone is okay. Very sad to see all the hard work up in flames but she will be back. Respect for Jamie for taking control of everything right away.
Really glad Shane and you guys are okay! Fire is a scary thing, but I’m no doubt impressed by the quick call to action! Just glad it happened in a controlled environment and not at 180+ mph going down the track. I have no doubt you guys will figure out what went wrong and fix everything because if there’s anything I do know, it’s that you guys don’t quit! Thanks for letting me be a part of the journey, good and bad! Keep pushing and let’s get rad! PFI ftw! 🔥
So bummed this happened. I'm so glad nobody was hurt and you all worked as a team to get it handled quickly. Thank you as always for keeping it real and sharing your journey with all of us.
Man this is hard to watch, but also a great lesson for anyone watching at how quickly things can go wrong and how fast they can escalate. Could have been a whole lot worse. Glad to see everyone came out ok 🤙🏻
Sh1t turns bad fast with a fire hey, been there a few times,I'm guessing they'll have a few fire extinguishers hanging nice and close from now on,every second counts....
This guy is always helping someone and always positive no matter the situation. Let’s find a why to donate or buy lots of merch and get him the Racecar he deserves! I wanna see him race this year
So they have an address to send things listed in the video description. I just bought a sticker but put in their own address as shipping. Left a note saying it was a donation for the fire fund. I wish I could do more today but instead I'll just place another order doing the same after my next pay.
It was super hard to watch, Brent is always there helping people out, going places to help someone out in whatever they need. Somehow when Brent wants to finally do something for himself, it goes wrong. I wish us as a community can help Brent get that s2k back and running ASAP. That man deserves it and way more than that. Glad everybody is safe
Man that is such a scary situation... That's why I always keep my fuel in the trunk by itself closed off and paranoid to have it under the hood just in case of a crash with what I've seen with methanol.. everybody at your shop deserves an extra round of applause some of the people I've worked with over the years would have panicked and froze.. honestly that's something that looked like it was inevitable with a placement how it was it would have eventually backfired at the track or something and if you were going 200 and had a methanol fire it would be a different conversation entirely.. you got to be so proud that your guys have heads on their shoulders to react the way they did
The open port on the top spilling fuel and the breather there does not help anything. Super shitty situation. Your failures are your opportunities for the best learning in your life.
@@alleydee9226 Definitely not standard to have a fuel tank vent inches from where a nitrous backfire will blow from. They absolutely need to relocate the vent at the very least. There's 2 things absolutely assured with nitrous: you'll melt spark plugs and eventually have a backfire out the intake.
Keep going. No matter what then your down they will keep on kicking you! But you gotta keeping fighting to get up and get yourself moving than sitting still stagnant. Love this stuff!
The most, on edge, I’ve ever been watching one of your videos. Watching your son stand beside the car, knowing something bad is about to happen. Glad he’s ok. Don’t let this deflate you too much buddy. You’re killing it! Love what you guys are doing.
Man that was a hard one to watch. Mad props to Jamie for staying calm and taking charge of the situation, his fast moving and thinking probably saved the shop. I'm Praying for you guys. Keep Fighting the good fight. God bless
Nooo omg... That sucks so bad but as long as everyone is ok the rest can be rebuilt.. it's what we do... If you need anything and I mean anything Brent don't be afraid to reach out
Everyone did a great job not panicking and getting things under control. Coulda been way worse, could have been mid pull or something that would've complicated things even more. Glad you guys are all alright, woulda been changing my pants after that ordeal. Definitely gonna rethink my fire safety program in my little garage and my project truck..
This was rough. Nobody could plan for this sort of thing. I'm just glad you all are okay. Parts can be replaced like everybody says but this still is a huge hit.
Sincerely sorry this happened to you guys especially being so close to getting her running top notch! I know you guys will bounce back! Glad everyone is ok!
Glad everyone is okay! I had a boat bilge blow up in my face shoot a 10 foot fireball in front of my dad. I was bent over the engine at the time. My dad thought I was done! As mechanics we get so complacent working around gas. It really opened my eyes and I hope you all learned something as well! Love you guys!!
The moment after you and Jaime looked at each other in silence captures everything. How hard you guys work, how right you all are, how 1 loss is everyone's loss. Not many shops ride and die together like you guys. Super fucking sad to see that happen to some who deserves a race car more than anyone. You work so hard Brent. Always putting everyone before yourself. I know with the love you give everyone and your positive attitude, this will be fixed in no time and be better than it ever was. Better it happened now than going 200moh down the track. One love brother. Stay safe.
Thank god no one was hurt, lines and wires are replaceable.. The crew of PFI is not…. I’m a firm believer in everything happens for a reason…. Better in a controlled environment than 200+\- mph down the quarter with someone behind the wheel .
It’s scary how fast things like this can happen. Thankfully, Steven wasn’t closer to the fuel cell. All of you reacted quickly and calmly as possible to get the fire out. Hopefully you can get Sho-nuff fixed and back ready to rip sooner rather than later. I’ve been excited watching all of these build videos over the years, from the start. If anyone can find the motivation to keep going on this project, it’s you Brent. You spread so much positivity in the car and racing community. It needs more people like you to help keep it from being killed by the EPA.
I’m a fire sprinkler inspector and do a lot of high end car shops. I always try and convince them to have double the mandatary amount of extinguishers . Good job working together and getting it out. People break down quickly in these situations.
Gotta go to a plastic alcohol tank. They expand and don't blow seams!!! Glad everyone is ok. Keep fighting that good fight and I can't wait to see this done!!!
This is so heartbreaking! I'm so glad Steven is ok! That explosion was unreal! I so glad y'all and the shop is ok! You all earned your fireman's patches. I'm so proud of you all. And I am willing to donate or do whatever I can to help! I'm sorry guys...
Dang eyes actually watering up for this one man glad everyone’s safe hope everyone goes and gets a check up smokes not the best thing to inhale thank god you guys were able to put out the fire ❤️🙏🙏
Dude same here. Through all the commotion and them panicking I had tears rolling down my eyes. After everything they have been through with the shops, EPA, and just building shonuff. Thank god they put it out and no one was hurt.
As just some guy on the other side of the world who likes your vids, that was heart wrenching. I can only imagine how rough that whole event must have been for all of you. I loved that you left in the bit at the end talking about realising you were unprepared for such a catastrophic failure and barely got it under control with what you had, shines through that you take the hits but plan on always learning and coming back stronger for them. A trait I wish we could all share. As many have said already I am glad there were no major human injuries other than heartbreak here because we can't replace people. But we all know the shogun of harlem ain't done yet. He is coming back from this better than ever. Sho'nuff!
I’m commenting this in the most humble way possible. I am a license airplane tech, and anytime we do engine runs for maintenance we Always have a guy staged with a massive fire extinguisher. Too many shops have burned simply out of pure panic looking for an extinguisher. Glad y’all are ok and didn’t loose your livelihood.
Man that's scary. It's a blessing that no one was hurt. Everyone did a great job jumping into action to address the fire. Take this as a lesson that you can never have too many fire extinguishers around. I know the set back with Sho Nuff is disappointing, but remember we're all here for you. Much love to the PFI family.
Dammit sho’nuff we just want to see you make some passes. Going right now to buy some merch now to help get this stubborn build done. Sorry for all the hardships.❤
You guys worked as a team under crazy pressure. Even Britney came running out!! That was incredible to see! Time for an extinguisher sponsor, hey AFC Service, get this crew some bottles for the shop and the guys at Lifeline get some suppression systems on these hot rods 🔥👀
Glad nobody is hurt but damn Brent, I really feel for you Buddy! I know you were excited that Shonuff was about done finally, I was excited myself! I can't say enough Man, so sorry guys! I'll fly up and volunteer my time to help put it back together, I'm not much of a mechanic but I'm a hell of a detailer!
I feel this. I've dealt with alot of situations in my life and there are people who stand around, people who flee and the ones to head towards the danger. Nothing wrong with the latter two. If you are the latter two think about what you can do for the person whos gonna engage it. 911/fire extinguisher/search for first aid. Provide us the tools.
That reaction was perfect. "kill power! " call outs for the just in cases. For example more fire extinguishing agent, careful where you stand all of it! Great job guys. I have much shipboard firefighting training and experience (flight deck and the within skin of the ship) and I'm very proud of how u guys handled the situation. Killing the power is very important in any fire scenario. And I can tell that u guys definitely aimed at the base of the fire even with the camera falling off view because it would've taken a hell of a lot more than those 2 bottles if u hadn't.
@Chatta601 fire is out and fire is under control are two different things my boy. They got it under control pushed it out side of the bay then continued to spray it for how long!? Dude.... don't try me

That sucks man. Just glad everyone is okay. I'd damn sure move that blow-off valve away from the fuel tank. I've dealt with a vehicle fire in my garage before and it's crazy! After the adrenaline wore off I felt like I hadn't slept for two days. I had a couple of the regular kinda small fire extinguishers and they ran out fast, so one thing I did the very next day was go and get 4, 20 lb class B fire extinguishers, one for each corner of my 2-car garage. They weren't that cheap, but they're much cheaper than replacing a vehicle or garage. And you might know this, but make sure you get Class B fire extinguishers, they are for gas fires, Class As have water in them and you don't want to add water to a gas fire.
Cleatus!!!!! Get your butt over there and help thrash on shonuff with them. I know you're busy but you gotta show some love man! Pfi was your best teammate during drive week. Do it for dale brother!
So glad to see the quick reaction from everybody and that everyone is alright. Next investment for the shop looks like it'll be a couple 20lb fire bittles for each bay.
@@themanhimself3 yes he is. The circumstances requiring the purchase suck though. I'm just glad everyone is ok and they were able to save the building and the vast majority of the car.

Backfire into the intake traveled to the BOV, blowing it open and ignited the vapors coning out of the vent on the tank. So sorry to see this. I'm glad no one was injured. You guys did a great job handing that fire. I'm a retired firefighter. Suggestion: Move the BOV or the tank vent.
Jamie is an "ALL STAR!!" Everyone kept their cool the best they could and handled the situation. Jamie is just a true leader who can make smart decisions in midst of chaos like this. I'd say it was more than likely a backfire from the turbo. With fuel vapors in thr air even a tiny flame in the housing you couldn't have seen would have caused this. I know phones, cameras ect. can ignite fumes but I'd say it's not as likely as the backfire theory. If possible run a hose from the vent on the fuel tank to divert the vapors away from any ignition sources. Or vent through a charcoal canister. I'm sure you guys will figure it out. We've seen enough of Brent playing with fire for a while!!
Gentry and sons just lost theirs to fire. So glad you guys didn't. We definitely don't need to take anymore crazy hits. You guys put in all the work to live your dreams wish you ALL the very BEST.💯
I just finished watching Tim gentry video about him losing everything to a fire then not 2 min later this popped up I was like wtf is going on glad everyone is ok that is the most important thing I have no doubt shonuf will be back
@parentsbasement7734 And what makes it even worse Brent and Tim are two of the most unselfish guys on UA-cam and are always looking out for everyone else before them selves really bate to see this happen to anyone especially two guys like Brent and Tim but one thing for sure neither of these guys have the word give up in their vocabulary
I'm glad you guys are all ok, that looked unbelievably scary. They way you guys reacted so professionally and quickly just shows how awesome you guys are. Hoping this car gets back to running condition super quick 🙏🏻
The moment Steven's sleeve caught on fire was rough to see. I'm so glad no one got hurt. I know the car getting damaged sucks, but I would say that morning, all of you were the luckiest people on the planet. And well done keeping your wits about you in an all out emergency!
I could see the pain in your eyes when you came around the corner after it all set in Brent Stay strong you have come so far with this beast and this is just another bump in the road not the end of it I have a saying on my channel “ never give up on living life” and watching Brent and the crew over the years has really inspired that in me because it doesn’t matter what happens good or bad our boy Brent tries to giggle it off and move on from it as best he can 💪🏼 With everything that has happened to you guys lately I really wish you all the best in this New Year
This made me realize ANYTHING can happen and you always need a plan in case something does happen. I'm sorry after the years of hard work this happened but I'm glad everyone is okay
Wow. As much damage to the car was prevented, it's amazing how much happened so fast. I have a Halgard Halotron extinguisher in my track car that I've never used. I really want to test it somehow on a fuel fire so I know what to expect if I ever need to use it, even more so now that I've watched this, but It would cost at couple hundred bucks to refill it plus the cost of whatever gets burned during the test. Much love and respect as always, Brent. You guys are part of the best group of automotive UA-camrs, and I'm so glad you all kept the car from the scrapyard.
Wow, so glad everyone is okay. That is really painful to watch. I'm so sorry for all of your lost money and work. = ( Really proud of you guys for responding so quickly and preventing it from being much worse. Also glad you still posted this so people can learn from it and prevent similar situations in the future. Was it just too much pressure in the fuel tank and/or a weak weld? That's absolutely crazy.
I felt this in my soul. Lost my 88 Supra to an engine bay fire. Went down so quick and one fire extinguisher wasn't nearly enough. Y'all kept it cool under pressure imo
Geez I’m super glad you guys are alright. I’m no expert but is it possible it back fired out of the blow off valve above the vent and went in the tank? Man that looked like a wild ride glad everyone made it out and the car can always be fixed with the pfi team on it!
@Hookah268; You are correct about the chemical, powder from the fire extinguishers damages electronics. 🤓 @PFI Speed;, @PFISppedtube; Am very glad that Brent, Jaime, Steven, Shane, Britney, and all others are fine, not injured or harmed. 😄 Each and Everyone reacted very well, quickly., rapidly, with good, properly with good execution ! 😄 Clearly this situation, occurrence, event was unexpected, surprising and resulted in some significant damage, 'set backs', disappointments, perhaps also disheartening too. 🥲 😏 A. Actually the circuit boards, not the electronics themselves are damaged by the chemicals 🤓 1. Every device, electronics that was within the vicinity of the chemical fire extinguisher spray, thus some could have entered into it, including the camera equipment, devices, phones, vehicle electronics, ECU-PCM, sensors, etc. should be checked thoroughly, opened for any possible chemical deposits on the boards 🧐 a. simple isopropyl alcohol solution, commonly used with cleaning electronics boards after soldering to remove resin is useful to clean the board(s) from, with any of this harmful chemical powder residue too. - well known by electronics, technicians, assemblers, engineers, etc. (as myself). 2. the chemicals result in a reaction which is corrosive to the circuit board material, thus dissolving the material, such there are holes, loss of, with the separation between layers, loss of board material on which the metal [usually gold] connection traces are etched, loss of insulation and separation between the power, ground layers and internal layers with traces too. 3. Such damage by the chemical occur often some time after, with the chemical powder remaining on the board 4. Such, in all facilities with computers and other electronics, the automated fire extinguishers use "halon gas" to 'snuff' out any fire, to protect the electronics, specifically the boards from damage. 5. "halon gas" fire extinguishers are actually effective with all A, B, C, D type fires -a. more effective, quicker than any chemical, foam or water use -b. the area must be ventilated, since the 'halon gas' effectively removes the oxygen, quickly, so the fire extinguishes rapidly -c. thus, with humans, the danger is having air for breathing, but easily remedied, corrected by evacuation and/or ventilation. -d. have kept a 'halon gas' fire extinguisher handy in my kitchen and motor vehicle since 1984. B. Perhaps consider having 'Halon Gas" available within the shop, nearby with every location in which a motor vehicle is operating, tuning, dynometer testing, etc. 1. Also consider having automated and easily triggered fire extinguisher systems within the shop 2.. Also consider especially with these 'race cars' to have installed automated fire extinguisher systems within the area of such potential -a. engine bay, fuel tank area, etc. -> as this fire with "ShoNuff" and "Skiddy" that occurred, both with the fuel tanks C. Also consider for other personal safety, to have improved, established ventilation of the exhaust gasses, fumes via tubes, piping and air exhaust fans, to remove them from the shop environment, bays to the outside, connected to the exhaust pipes of, with each operating vehicle. D. Am certain that You'All will figure out more about the 'cause(s)' of, with, within this fire with "ShoNuf", with Your proper investigation, assessment, evaluation, determination and thus adjust, correct for the future and prevention too. 🤓😏 All The Best and Much Success in Your Quest, Health, Happiness and Well Being. 😊 Sincerely ☺
So glad you guys are all ok. Been a fan in the UK for many years. Steven is one lucky guy being that close to it. I've got a feeling we will see 20 fire extinguishers around that bay in the very near future. You can never have enough when the time comes and you need them.
You're right Jamie Gas tank vent cap looked like it ignited from backfire the pressure from the fumes igniting would have been so extreme it would have found the weakest area That tank may have been made perfectly but pressure doesn't care... Stay positive make some adjustments repair some s*** and get back at her so pumped to see completion of this build
Thank goodness everyone jumped into action and nobody was hurt and the car wasn’t lost. I think it’s important to learn from this that you NEED to have a gauntlet of fire extinguishers very close on a rack or shelves right next to the dump cause that is definitely where most fires happen. Fast team work guys great job in a hard/scary time.
That's a heartbreaker for sure. I've been in the same situation before. How everybody reacted kept this car and possibly the building from a total loss. I'm glad everybody made it with no injuries.
Jaimes fast and calm actions saved that car and probably the building. Fires in auto shops are just the worst from a firefighting perspective. Strong work by the whole team. Keep your heads up and keep plugging away at it.
Holy smokes guys. These things happen, despite our efforts. Glad you’re all safe!!! As heartbreaking as it was to watch im sure you’ll have it back up and ripping soon!! Good hussle saving the car and the shop!! Brent you’ve got one of the best demeaner’s in the YT car world. Proud of all you guys.
Know you will get a lot of advice, but its too important to not add a bit from an old-timer. Watch what the guys at Fuel-Safe do on EVERY dyno pull: The guy in the car wears a flame suit, head sock, gloves and helmet with visor down. EVERY pull. That is the smart thing to do. They also keep anything flammable away from the area, and do NOT allow a bunch of folks to gather round the car. Lead by showing what is right, I wince every time I watch you guys dyno a car and have been praying nothing would happen. If you had been doing a customer's car, who knows how many burns people would result? Take your professionalism up a notch, Brent. Lead by example. Sent with love.

Just a suggestion, keep a manual cutting saw on a long pole nearby so you can cut the straps and then push the car outside. I was a firefighter EMT for many years and I've seen homes burn down because they never thought to push the burning car outside. I know you couldn't get to the front straps here. And this is going to affect them for a while, This fire, and Tim Gentry’s total loss from their fire down in Tennessee, will change them forever. I know from first hand experience, they will continue to fight this fire for a long time..and they deserve ALL the support we can give them.
Jamie is always the man. Would not ask for a better person to be with you through that. So glad you are all ok.

being a long time viewer of this channel, this really got me. Im glad everyone is okay Jamie is the man for acting so fast!
I'm glad you and our PFI FAMILY are safe, but definitely 100% props to Jamie. I ain't never seen him move that fast. Guess he has been keeping that lightning speed in his reserve. Much love doggies

Holy crap. Glad everyone is okay. Very sad to see all the hard work up in flames but she will be back. Respect for Jamie for taking control of everything right away.
This really hurt to watch..
So glad everyone is okay! Things could have been much much worse.
SHO'NUFF she'll be back!

I'm gonna look on the bright side. They have a new ice skating rink right outside the door now.
PFI ftw! 🔥
That's Steven. Not Shane.
You mean steven his brother
Every bit helps, even a drip in a bucket will eventually fill it up. They need to catch a break from all the bs they've been dealing with.
It was super hard to watch, Brent is always there helping people out, going places to help someone out in whatever they need. Somehow when Brent wants to finally do something for himself, it goes wrong. I wish us as a community can help Brent get that s2k back and running ASAP. That man deserves it and way more than that. Man that is such a scary situation... That's why I always keep my fuel in the trunk by itself closed off and paranoid to have it under the hood just in case of a crash with what I've seen with methanol.. everybody at your shop deserves an extra round of applause some of the people I've worked with over the years would have panicked and froze.. honestly that's something that looked like it was inevitable with a placement how it was it would have eventually backfired at the track or something and if you were going 200 and had a methanol fire it would be a different conversation entirely.. you got to be so proud that your guys have heads on their shoulders to react the way they did
You think they would have learned with the pacer.
@@christiangraham4579 you two know nothing about methanol fuel systems that's standard to have a surge tank up front
The open port on the top spilling fuel and the breather there does not help anything. Super shitty situation. Your failures are your opportunities for the best learning in your life.
So fire went out the blow off value that's pointed right at the gas tank
@@alleydee9226 Definitely not standard to have a fuel tank vent inches from where a nitrous backfire will blow from. They absolutely need to relocate the vent at the very least.
There's 2 things absolutely assured with nitrous: you'll melt spark plugs and eventually have a backfire out the intake.
Brett is a real man!! Took a terrible situation and walked away with Still a positive attitude!! So impressed
Keep going. No matter what then your down they will keep on kicking you! But you gotta keeping fighting to get up and get yourself moving than sitting still stagnant. Love this stuff!

Yes you can plan for this sort of thing by having proper fire safety equipment nearby when working on something that has the potential to be dangerous
Actually that's what all went wrong here. The planning of the design of the build. As smart as they are, they sure didn't think this one through.
You could plan to not have fire shooting at an open gas tank vent that would probably be a good place to start
Yeah that would probably close my eyes.
Done the typical gas on a pile off sticks lighter didn't work to a couple minutes to get matches and boom no eye brows or arm hair
Thank god no one was hurt, lines and wires are replaceable.. The crew of PFI is not…. I’m a firm believer in everything happens for a reason…. Better in a controlled environment than 200+\- mph down the quarter with someone behind the wheel .
I actually got a bit emotional when I seen the carnage! Sorry this happened to you all!
Way to keep calm and handle the situation, hats off to Jaime. Glad you're all ok. 🤯

As just some guy on the other side of the world who likes your vids, that was heart wrenching. I can only imagine how rough that whole event must have been for all of you.
I loved that you left in the bit at the end talking about realising you were unprepared for such a catastrophic failure and barely got it under control with what you had, shines through that you take the hits but plan on always learning and coming back stronger for them. go refill your extinguishers stat, and get a couple of big ones now to keep right by the dyno box, like really big ones.
They used like 5 or 6 bottles n water

Thanks again Jamie. From all of us viewers.
My heart goes out to you guys, fire is so crazy. Glad everyone is safe, I feel like that could have been much worse.
Glad your all ok. Could the back fire have blown out of the blow off valve? It appears to be directly above the fuel tank vent.
So sorry to see this, you guys work so hard but you all did amazing and Jamie was on the ball. Glad you're all ok!
Sometimes the hits in life just don't stop coming 😕 Glad you guys are alright and nothing burned to the ground. Crazy how the tank burst!

Geez I’m super glad you guys are alright. I’m no expert but is it possible it back fired out of the blow off valve above the vent and went in the tank? Man that looked like a wild ride glad everyone made it out and the car can always be fixed with the pfi team on it!
Sorry guys!! Glad everyone is okay. That powder and electronics don't do well. Keep an eye out for issues down the road. Phew, that was close!
@Hookah268; You are correct about the chemical, powder from the fire extinguishers damages electronics. 🤓
@PFI Speed;, @PFISppedtube;
Am very glad that Brent, Jaime, Steven, Shane, Britney, and all others are fine, not injured or harmed. 😄
Each and Everyone reacted very well, quickly., rapidly, with good, properly with good execution ! 😄
Clearly this situation, occurrence, event was unexpected, surprising and resulted in some significant damage, 'set backs', disappointments, perhaps also disheartening too. 🥲 😏
A. Actually the circuit boards, not the electronics themselves are damaged by the chemicals 🤓
1. Every device, electronics that was within the vicinity of the chemical fire extinguisher spray, thus some could have entered into it, including the camera equipment, devices, phones, vehicle electronics, ECU-PCM, sensors, etc. should be checked thoroughly, opened for any possible chemical deposits on the boards 🧐
a. simple isopropyl alcohol solution, commonly used with cleaning electronics boards after soldering to remove resin is useful to clean the board(s) from, with any of this harmful chemical powder residue too.
3. Such damage by the chemical occur often some time after, with the chemical powder remaining on the board
4. Such, in all facilities with computers and other electronics, the automated fire extinguishers use "halon gas" to 'snuff' out any fire, to protect the electronics, specifically the boards from damage.
5. "halon gas" fire extinguishers are actually effective with all A, B, C, D type fires
-a. more effective, quicker than any chemical, foam or water use
-b. the area must be ventilated, since the 'halon gas' effectively removes the oxygen, quickly, so the fire extinguishes rapidly
-c. thus, with humans, the danger is having air for breathing, but easily remedied, corrected by evacuation and/or ventilation.
-d. have kept a 'halon gas' fire extinguisher handy in my kitchen and motor vehicle since 1984.
B. Perhaps consider having 'Halon Gas" available within the shop, nearby with every location in which a motor vehicle is operating, tuning, dynometer testing, etc.
1. Also consider having automated and easily triggered fire extinguisher systems within the shop
2.. Also consider especially with these 'race cars' to have installed automated fire extinguisher systems within the area of such potential
-a. engine bay, fuel tank area, etc. -> as this fire with "ShoNuff" and "Skiddy" that occurred, both with the fuel tanks
All The Best and Much Success in Your Quest, Health, Happiness and Well Being. 😊
Sincerely ☺
So glad you guys are all ok. Been a fan in the UK for many years. Steven is one lucky guy being that close to it. I've got a feeling we will see 20 fire extinguishers around that bay in the very near future. You can never have enough when the time comes and you need them.
You're right Jamie
Gas tank vent cap looked like it ignited from backfire
the pressure from the fumes igniting would have been so extreme it would have found the weakest area
That tank may have been made perfectly but pressure doesn't care...
Stay positive make some adjustments repair some s*** and get back at her
so pumped to see completion of this build
