- Shorin Ryu katas performed by using limited wind up while using compression of the body to execute each moves. This version is more for students, but advance practioner would perform with more synchronization of the feet and fist.
Thanks a lot this video was very helpful while learning fukyugata ichi which ive been trying to learn for a while now
Beautifully done. Thank you!
Simplemente Genial. Gracias.
Thanks for the invite. I will definitely take you upon it. The same goes for you, if you're ever in Tallahassee, FL. Yes I train with Paris and have trained with Shinzato Sensei.
Had to wait I’m at gold orange belt rn but this helped get my memory back thanks!
Great looking Dojo! I was in Alexandria in March...wish I would have known you were there...
Great performance!
This is perfect. I learned long ago and am refreshing my form, though, I never lost my mindset. Thank you so much for this. I studied in Port St Joe, Fl.
Did you ever know or meet a Sensei Richard Lorhding from Panama City, FL?
The stance in First kata looks like just the forward stance. When i learned this in Shorin Ryu it uses the natural stance as well.
this guy has extreme power you can see it from how loose he is with his movement and from the sound his strikes make. Excellent form you would not want to take a punch from this brother.
Brother Jared yeah I noticed that too. Unless you practice like him it's hard to understand how hard it is to develop that power.
Very strong technique. Great punches 👊🏻
I imagine he has great power, it seems so, and I definitely wouldn't want to take a punch from him, keep in mind though, the loud noise is him literally slapping his stomach, you can see it in slow motion, and you can sort of notice it in normal speed. I'm not saying anything against him at all, this is fantastic, just don't mistake the "snap of his gi" or "power of hi strike" for the noise because its him slapping his core.
@@TheOctabreakerdo you know why he’s slapping himself as you describe? I’ve never seen this done. What is the purpose?
@@superfriend7793I have no idea why, and I wonder why. I started noticing it years ago. It created the illusion of a snap but I’m unsure if it serves a purpose.
Awesome thank you. Intro is brutal for rewind teaching
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for my friends
Hello Sensei ShorinRyuRonin. I have been in the martial arts for almost 30 years now. We have three version of doing kata. One is like everyone and quite breathing, one is quite breathing with kiai, and one with all breathing like this. It just so happen this was put up as video for display. If you do Shorin Ryu, then I would love to get some insights from you and share our knowledge in this okinawan karate. So much to learn and still learning.
I do Shorin-Ryu Shorinkan, we just had a Karate Camp at my Dojo Eddie Bathea Jr is our Kyoshi. I learned this from Hanshi Stolsmart, but her's had Crane movements for the shuto turns after elbow, kick, punch. Punch hand and leg stomp and rear shuto as you turn around. I believe she called this Matsubayashi version, since I have learned this, I have been pouring over information on the beginnings of Shorin-Ryu and links to Fang & White Crane & Southern Shaolin/ Incense shop boxing.
I was having trouble remembering all the steps, then I came across your video again, thank you so much! As soon as I watched I knew, it was just a slight variation on yours, looks more like a grab than a shuto. But thank you so much, your video and your movements have helped me immensely, I am a 43 year old Orange Belt, with my eye on Blue before Thanksgiving. I have been preparing for a LIFE LONG journey with Karatedo. o7 salute
This video will very much help me with my yellow belt and soon orange belt test. THX VERY MUCH😊
See Nagamine Sensei's book 'The Essence of Okinwan Karate-Do"..pg 111: Observe that though his feet are in shiko-dachi position, the height of his stance is more like kiba-dachi. In Goju-ryu this kata is Gekisai-dai-ichi, and the shiko-dachi is deeper. View the several examples of the performance of this kata and note the subtle difference in waza amongst the stylists. The pattern is the same but there are differences in blocking, punching, and stepping, as well as the rhythm and pace. Food for thought. One observer's flawless can be another's not so. With respect.
dude. it is because Shuri te has higher stances. Goju which is Naha te has lower shiko dachi. Fukyugata ni is Goju ryu kata. however used as training one same as Fukyu Ichi is Shuri te but also used in Goju. Kind of tribue two major schools in Okinawa.
It's interesting though, because I believe that Gekisai Dai ichi/Ni are relatively new Katas. Created in the 1940's By Miyagi Chojun.
I did Tang Soo Do when I was younger, for many years, and the only real differences for us were deeper stances, and instead of going at an angle once you turn we were directly to the side. other wise our first form was the same.
this is similar to how i originally learned it under my first style then i found a similar smaller dojo style of seibukan and the main difference between the two is the foot wok
I'm only an yellow belt .This video helped me learn furku kata ni .THanks
Akhil Joseph it's been a year or whatever since you posted this, but if you happen to read this, where are you now in your training? I'm just about to test for orange belt.
Akhil Joseph good luck with your testing. I have been doing karate for 34 years.
bronzemedal12345 I didn't see your note til now :) I'm testing for blue belt soon! Crazy.
Thanks for this video. Just a few minor changes from what my sensei has been teaching.
Plen122 I hit brown then had to quit
I've been studying Matsubayashi ryu for 8 years now. But I studied Go-ju ryu as a kid. Although this Fugkata ichi is essentially identical to Sensei Nagamine's style. You will notice the crescent steps used on this style as well as the breathing techniques make this a Go-Ju ryu style of the kata. Still all in all I was impressed with his performance of these katas. As Osensei said in his book the Esscense of Okinawan Karate Do, we should respect all forms of martial arts.
goju i've seen its pretty impressive. i'd say its the most internal u can get with stuff outside kung fu.
dear Dave. Fukyugata Ichi is Shorin Ryu - Shuri te, Fukyugata Ni is Goju Ryu - Naha te. Because of those 2 major schools in Okinawa both have those as training kata in their systems.
i now learn ne and itchi
genial!
Hello Bill, you can visit us anytime. If I am not mistaken, you had trained with Paris and sensei Shinzato?
1:59 ni starts
I would like to know the name of the two fisted punch.
Goju ryu calls it awase zuki.
Do you know sensei Henry Paulse
I am learning Fukyugata Ni for my Green belt I am Orange at the moment only started doing Karate in mid March this year
margaret charles hi, where are u in your training now? I'm testing for green soon.
my 5 yr old son is doing it ;) still 9kyu :D
Forester jkl awesome, did he just start? Is it Shorin-Ryu?
margaret charles you should be in your pinan katas but good for u(not being sarcastic)
Where are ya now buddy?
Thanks for the video my son and i are testing tomorrow he going blue am going orange good study guide for us to practice. Kinda forgot ichi ni and San.
Jesus P . i wish you and your son best of luck.
Jesus P what belts do you have now?
I'm green, in a Shorin-Ryu system.
Phổ cập quyền 1 & 2.
Very good! What is your Shorin-Ryu lineage? Hai!
Can you just upload blue purple and green please
and orange Stripe
Are you not supposed to stay at the same level/height in the transition from down block to your Oi-zuki in your style? Assuming just a style difference. Like in mine our head level isn't supposed to change at any point. Atleast not in the first five basic katas. Very clean techniques. 🙏
Hey man. Yeah in Matsubayashi Ryu, your levels chance. During fukyugata ichi low block, you should be at a noticeably lower level than when you step up and punch 👌
legal
im now green stripe
Im A Yellow Belt
thanks kata i have yellow Stripe
im a yellow stripe i stii a white belt with the liltle yellow'
Recuerdos
+bronzemedal12345 What is the Shorin-Ryu belt order?
+Goldeneagle360 White, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown 4, brown 3, brown 2, brown 1, black 1 (shodan), and then black 2 to 9, IIRC.
Correction: White, Yellow, Orange, Red, Green, Purple, Blue, Brown1, Brown2, Brown3, then Black.
it is wh, yell, oran, green, blue, brown, black 1-5dan shihan, white red 6-8dan renshi and full red 9-10dan hanshi and kyoshi :D
For ours it was white, purple, yellow, 2 blue, 3, green, 3 brown, then shodan, no stripes
For mine it’s wh. 1,2,3, Gre. 1,23, bro. 1,2,3, (maybe yellow I forgot) bla. 1,2,3,4,5,6, and then red with white stripes and pure red.
I am in green belt
I am black belt 1 dan
perferc!! ossh
What's with the silly sound effects?
Kelly Cox breathing.
It is called a Kiai and serves several purposes
Quel intérêt de claquer sa main sur son kimono a par faire du bruit.
Ok but are you slapping yourself?
Doesn't turn his head first, crossing on the downblocks is weak. Heavy GI's ALWAYS make snap BUT he's accentuating it by having his elbow shoot out too far, it should rub your side. Pocket hand's too low, shouldn't be on your obi.....
I hope to meet up with Paris again soon. Please send me an email to lentran@vashorinryu(com)so I can have you on my contact. Thanks
Fist should be by the rib cage.?
Stances are not well defined.?
Steps are not even?
Don't glyde and punch?
Most of your elements are from the shoulder?
Fukyugata ich was damn near flawless. His horse stances in fugyukata ni are kind of fucked up. I didn't hear no kiai though.
same style and I'm a green belt and he fucked that all up and its cat stance not horse
cat stance? did you watch Pinan Shodan? or Fukyu? ;)
@@mrantek7373😂😂😂 savage
But seriously gamingforever, there’s no cat stance in either of them katas?
es muy malo
Tha fuck is this
very bad kata
why? his form looked great to me.
very offensive comment
I don't understand why is so horrible performance, no power, no technique, is he a black belt? I don't think so
Neto Aguilera what? Looked pretty good to me.
Neto Aguilera: you will have quite different opinion if you see him doing kata in person. So much power while relaxing.
We must have watched different videos.
I noticed no gamaku
Ужасно.
Thanks for my friends
