Yes please, please, please. I would LOVE to see your altered books as well as crackle. I love crackle but for some reason it doesn't love me back :( I have a terrible time with it. I have recently found two bags of old vintage books that are begging to be altered. Your videos are so inspirational. Love learning from you. Thank you
So happy that you are enjoying the videos... thank you so much for your lovely comment. There's already a flip through of this altered book in the Books, Books, Books series (and there will be another coming soon with me talking in detail about each page spread in it) - ua-cam.com/video/TYqLY1mSDsI/v-deo.html There's also a crackle video, if you haven't seen that yet: ua-cam.com/video/ydDRv40KKTA/v-deo.html and coming some time next month, I'm planning a Craft Supplies Deep Dive into various kinds of crackle medium, so maybe there will be some help and/or alternatives in that episode for you to try. Crackle can be affected by temperature and humidity, so that might be something causing your problems. Or if it's quite old paste and has dried out a bit, that will definitely impact on the crackle you get (or don't get). Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
I’m loving this…especially the one page at a time way of doing this altered book. An altered book can be overwhelming but this page at a time style would work well for me, thank you!!📚📚📚
I really just think of it as an art journal, more than an altered book... the cover is certainly altered, mind you! Hope you'll have fun playing, one page at a time. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Yayyy! I would absolutely love a book flip three series. I do so enjoy and love your videos. I hope your tutorials can get longer and longer. Truly just a lovely wonderful channel and artist. Thank you for sharing all your creativity.🙏🏻🙏🏻😁
I'll definitely turn the camera on when I continue these pages... need to find out where they're headed next!! Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Yes I would love to see more of these!! I’ve worked in old books like these too years ago. Time to make more with Alan the new goodies available today.
Happy to hear you enjoyed the start of this page... the next steps are already available in one of the A Few Minutes of Fun episodes. And there's a flip through of the rest of what's in this art journal, as well as many other book-based projects to see in the Books Books Books playlist. Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
So happy you like it - thank you for commenting. There are already quite a few books to see... You'll find them in the Books, Books, Books series here ua-cam.com/play/PL8YgZDGC0XQUZVj8FT6WY84exoB8e8nSx.html
Thank you so much... definitely some book-flipping to come, and I'm sure there will be more journalling pages too. Quite apart from anything else, I need to find out where this page spread is going next!
I would love to see you do ANYTHING!! Your work and art is amazing, I am very intrested in a flip through of that book! You make me laugh and I enjoy your videos very much!
This is fabulous. I love both the stencils and how you used them. I love your short videos, perfect for my attention span and it means I have one or two techniques or ideas that I can try, instead of a huge event I need to prepare for.
That's great to hear, and exactly what I hoped the Few Minutes of Fun series would offer. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughtful feedback.
I do exactly what you're doing here in the way of gluing pages together. I also tear out some pages so as to avoid the gator mouth, giving more room for bulky spreads. Thanks for sharing!❤
I’ve done the same with the pre- tearing out of about 1/3 to half the book as I find by the time you add pockets and journaling cards etc it gets way too chunky. Love your ideas. ❤️💕
@@judycoldicott8233 Yes, if you're adding pockets etc, you'd need to do that! I'm not so much for the pockets and journalling cards look... I like the rusty crusty mixed media textures - and the chunky pages make me happy. It becomes so tactile as an object (and un-booklike!).

@@w0rdsandp1ctures Both or really anything you do. I love the aqua colours too, so it's heaven watching your videos. Would love to see you go pick your dried weeds, to see which ones you pick and how to paint them for your tags. Would love to see a journal from start to finish. Oh and YES PLEASE, more stencils. I love stencils. I want to try watercolours with stencils, not quite sure how to do it, but will have a go. If you have any tips on that, I'd love to see it 🥰
Great... will definitely make a note of stencils with watercolours (though that's really not so different from using Distress Inks in some ways). There are already a couple of journal flip throughs in the Books Books Books series (as you must know if you're already on your second or third go through!). There isn't a journal from beginning to end, because I don't think I've ever completely filled a journal so far (!) though there are plenty of handmade books which are complete, like the one with the gel prints and quotes. And there is the continuation of this page after the background - as well as being able to see how I carry on with pages in some of the art journal flipthroughs... but there will definitely be more journal pages being made in the future. Thanks for all the suggestions.
Yes, I would love videos on altered books! The cover on this one is beautiful. I love your work! Also, I would love to see how you finished this page. I'm fairly new to this and often have a hard time knowing how to go forward with a page like this. Thank you so much!
I will certainly turn the camera on when I come to the next stages of this page... I don't know what those are yet, though! The planned book series is on its way soon, flipping through and looking at past book-based creations and art journal pages, so I hope you'll enjoy those. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
I read the description for this book (“Love in Another Town”) on Amazon, and IMHO you have made this book 1000 times more interesting with what you have done to it. 😂 Yes please to a book series. I am loving this page so far and can’t wait to see it finished. Brava!! 🙂🤩
That made me laugh, thank you. There's a Barbara Taylor Bradford fan elsewhere in the comments who might disagree... but it's a bit late for me to read this copy now to find out!! I'll be sure to switch the camera on when I carry on with this page - no idea where it's going yet, really. And yes, there will be more books coming soon. Thanks so much for your company on the journey.
This turned out quite nicely! Using an old book is a great way to journal or to just try out different techniques and mediums. More importantly, it gets the creative juices flowing and gives a maker something to look forward to doing. So much fun! Thank you for sharing your expertise!🤗💕
Exactly that... avoid the blank page syndrome and just get on with playing - no worries about "spoiling" an expensive journal either. Thanks so much for watching, and for your thoughtful comment.
I'll be sure to switch the camera on when I get to the next stages... I just don't know what those are yet!! Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
I just found your You Tube channel. This is the first video I have watched and I love your style. Yes, a book flip through would be grand. I would love to see the pages in this altered book.
The books are coming... but it's a series of flipping through books I've already made/altered/journalled in - and there's plenty of nature going on in all of them! There will be more journalling videos too - including whatever happens next on this page spread. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
At the very least, I'll be turning the camera on for the rest of these pages... but yes, there's bound to be more journalling to come, as I do a lot of it!
Love these videos !!! yes would love to see flip through of your books ! I too am not fond of shorts and reels, these are relaxing and inspiring to watch and I learn something as I listen and watch every time!
That's great feedback, thanks so much. Definitely some books and more journalling to come soon - so happy to hear you are finding inspiration and knowledge here.
I love Barbara Taylor Bradford! A read A Woman of Substance eons ago, an epic, and the ones that followed. Such a good read! :). So glad to see your videos here which I didn't know you did, so feeling lucky! Thank you! And, love the book idea!
Ah, she's A Woman of Substance, is she? Well, it's a bit too late to read this one!! I've only just started to add content here regularly, so there's plenty more to come this year (including more books soon). Very happy you found your way here.
Hi from Australia, I just came across you page now and I am quite enjoying it. So I have Subscribe. I think a book series would be great. I'm I am quite new to scrapbook and journals.😍
Happy you found your way here... I've only recently started to add videos here regularly, so there's plenty more to come. In fact, the book series is starting any minute, with a short introduction video today and the first full episode next week. I think it's going to be Wednesdays, mostly for that! Thanks so much for watching, commenting and subscribing - welcome!
Happy you found your way here - welcome. I will definitely be turning the camera on when I continue the journey with this page... but I'm making no promises about when that will be!! And yes, it's definitely a favourite stencil of mine. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment.
I think a book series would be fun! As you were flipping through, I saw a page that had window frames. Did you happen to show that anytime? I really enjoy your "A few minutes of fun" videos!
I've only really started sharing videos here quite recently... so that page had an outing on Instagram, but still photos only - no process video exists, I'm afraid. But when I start the book series, I'll definitely be talking through some of the spreads in this book in more detail. In the meantime, that window frame is from a Tim Holtz Idea-ology Baseboards pack called, I believe, Window Frames, so if you're looking for one like it... Very happy to hear you're enjoying the videos. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment.
A series would be great and LOVE YOUR STYLE !! ,but sure do wish your videos were longer!! Enjoy your company and learning new techniques !! Thsnx a million!!🎉❤
There are some longer form videos coming too... I've only recently started adding content here regularly, so I'm still finding out what works. Thanks so much for your lovely comment.
If you watch the video, I talk quite a lot about gluing pages together for a firmer working surface. Happy you enjoyed it - and there will be more books coming soon.
@@conniebartch9656 I really like the chunky look - I love that "bursting at the seams" look. It has a dimensional and sculptural presence all of its own. If it comes to the point where I can't actually create any more spreads in it because I can't open it wide enough, then that's when I'll know it's full. And in the long run, if it stands on a shelf as an almost semi-circular object, then that will make a great display. But no, it's never going to fit back in the book shelf as a book!!
I really like to see making pages, as making journals is my favourite creative work. Please tell, was it stormy sky, faded jeans or both of them? Yes, book flips or page making on video would be great.
Thank you - more books and journalling coming soon. It's funny, isn't it... I said it was Stormy Sky as I sprayed it, but like you, looking at it now, it seems dark enough to be Faded Jeans to me. I'm afraid I can't be certain, as they were both around on the desk (of course). Sorry - could be either of them - but not both. All I can say for certain is that it was definitely Speckled Egg first of all!! Have a lovely weekend.
I've been trying to see whether I can get a look at the label, and I'm pretty sure it is Stormy Sky (I know I said Faded Jeans at another point... but I think I was right the first time!).
@@w0rdsandp1ctures Thank you, just wondering if it were 2 different blues even when they looked much the same (I do have Faded Jeans oxyde, but no Stormy Sky).
Hi Alison! LOVE when we get to watch you have FUN creating! I would very much enjoy a Book Series - both flip-through of completed journals as well as creating new pages… I would also enjoy seeing where this background from today’s video takes you. You are such an inspiration and a wonderful encouragement that we can be creative too… loved the idea of the altered book eliminating blank page syndrome. Thanks for all you do to share your creativity - I enjoy all of your videos whether the creatively edited ‘shorts’ or real time play. Have a wonderful weekend! 🙂
I've never had a problem with that happening. If you gesso the pages, that should give most mediums enough to hold onto. Mind you, I'm not manhandling the book the whole time, or bending or twisting the pages. And they are protected by the very fact of being within a book. You might have a problem if you were sending individual tags or cards through the post without protection, I guess... but again, properly prepared substrates should help with that. Happy you enjoyed it, thanks for commenting.
I'll be sure to turn the camera back on when I have some time to continue with these pages... and there will be some book-flipping coming soon. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment.
I really enjoy watching you. Every time you come on I quit go and watch what you have because your tutorials are wonderful I love learning from your creativity. Just love watching you. Please do a flip through of your book when you were going through a little bit to get to your pages I was like oh I'd love to see all of that. Thank you so much 💕

What a lovely comment. That's exactly the intention of the Few Minutes of Fun - nothing complicated, just some easy ways to make the most of whatever time you have at the craft table. Now I just need to work out what comes next on this page spread... I'll be sure to turn the camera on when I do! Crackle and book-flipping will be coming soon... Hi Alison, fabulous video not keen on the shorts but love these videos. Yes you are right, a layer of cling film really helps before you put the lid on your paste with keeping it nice and moist xx

I really do enjoy you :-) I’d wondered if it would be possible for you to do a class on the tags that you found from a couple of years ago that had the hydrangeas on them. I would absolutely love to get lost in that. I’m dealing with a very sick husband and look forward to getting lost in something beautiful.🦋🌷😊❤️
Happy to hear you are enjoying the videos. My watercolour painting is really my private art practice. It’s a personal and vulnerable thing, so it’s unlikely to be something I’ll share in quite the same way as the crafting videos on UA-cam. But you can already watch me watercolouring my PaperArtsy Printed Tissue in one of the Few Minutes of Fun episodes, and given I originally sketched those botanical images, that’s pretty close! And I’ll be sharing me watercolouring some of my botanical stamps soon too. I hope that will do for you for now... Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

I read the description for this book (“Love in Another Town”) on Amazon, and IMHO you have made this book 1000 times more interesting with what you have done to it. 😂
Yes please to a book series.
Love it! ❤
Thank you.
I loved this and would love you
to do the book series you referred to. Happy Day
Thanks so much for taking the time to let me know - book-flipping coming soon!
I want to see more of this page!!!!!
Very happy you found your way here... welcome! There will definitely be some book-flipping coming soon. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
I would love to see a flipthrough. 💜💜💜
Great to hear - thanks so much for taking the time to let me know.
Would love a book series! Especially if one were all nature themed
The books are coming... but it's a series of flipping through books I've already made/altered/journalled in - and there's plenty of nature going on in all of them! There will be more journalling videos too - including whatever happens next on this page spread. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Love it❤
Thank you.
I would love to see your flip through!
Great, thanks for letting me know... there will definitely be some book flip-throughs coming soon.
Of COURSE I’d love more looks at your art anytime so 🪻YES🦋 to the flip thru❣️❣️❣️
Ahhh, thanks, Lynn - always great to hear from you!
You chose two perfect stencils for that spread 👍🏼👏👏👏
Thank you... they were just what I was in the mood for that day!
would love to enjoy a book flip thru series.
Great to know, thank you - book-flipping will be coming soon!
More journaling please😊
At the very least, I'll be turning the camera on for the rest of these pages... but yes, there's bound to be more journalling to come, as I do a lot of it!
Love these videos !!! yes would love to see flip through of your books ! I too am not fond of shorts and reels, these are relaxing and inspiring to watch and I learn something as I listen and watch every time!
That's great feedback, thanks so much. Definitely some books and more journalling to come soon - so happy to hear you are finding inspiration and knowledge here.
Yes a book series would be fun.
Great, thank you - more books on the way soon!
@@w0rdsandp1ctures 😂
I meant ‘I read… “
😃
Yes please more about journals 😊
More books, journals and journalling coming soon. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment.
Yes please ,more book journaling
Thank you - lots more books, journals and journalling to come soon.
New here, what a great find. I love the way that looks. Will you show when you finishing it? I love the German stencil.
Happy you found your way here - welcome. I will definitely be turning the camera on when I continue the journey with this page... but I'm making no promises about when that will be!! And yes, it's definitely a favourite stencil of mine. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment.
Wow! Awesome! New subbie!❤
That's great to hear - welcome! Happy you enjoyed it.
Yezzz book series
Great - there will be more books coming soon!
Oh yes!
Happy you enjoyed it, thank you.
Love your ideas. Would love to see altered book series. Do you remove some pages or just glue pages together?
If you watch the video, I talk quite a lot about gluing pages together for a firmer working surface. Happy you enjoyed it - and there will be more books coming soon.
@@w0rdsandp1ctures doesn’t the book get too fat if you don’t take some of the pages out?
@@conniebartch9656 I really like the chunky look - I love that "bursting at the seams" look. It has a dimensional and sculptural presence all of its own. If it comes to the point where I can't actually create any more spreads in it because I can't open it wide enough, then that's when I'll know it's full. And in the long run, if it stands on a shelf as an almost semi-circular object, then that will make a great display. But no, it's never going to fit back in the book shelf as a book!!
New subscriber and would love to see a book series…..cyndi m.
Welcome - great to have your company. And yes, there will be more books coming soon! Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
💙💙💙
Thank you.
💜💜💜
Thank you!
@@cigale1254 Whichever one it is, it's Ink Spray Stain not Oxide!
can i ask if the texture paste when dry cracks or breaks off this is suck a good idea thanks for sharing
Happy you enjoyed it, thanks for commenting.
sorry such not the other word
Got it!!!
Yes! I would love to see your altered books and some tutorials on your complete process!
Thank you so much 💕
What a lovely comment, thank you so much! Yes, there will be some book flip-throughs coming soon, and this one will definitely be included.
Oh my yes please. Flip throughs are so awesome. This books looks gorgeous ❤
Great to know, thank you - book-flipping coming soon!
Yes would love this flip three series love your pages, very decorative and vintage grungy..
Thank you very much - happy you like them. Book-flipping coming soon!
Love the “few minutes of fun”, I think it makes it very doable broken down into steps. Gives us mere mortals a chance to recreate your masterpieces 🤓 Would love to see what you can do with crackle paste and see what you’ve created in a book flip through series. Thank you for sharing your work 🙏
What a lovely comment.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Hi Alison, fabulous video not keen on the shorts but love these videos. Yes you are right, a layer of cling film really helps before you put the lid on your paste with keeping it nice and moist xx
Thank you - yes, I'd seen Tim Holtz do it, but it's never been necessary in the damp climates I've lived in before!! Thanks so much for watching and commenting.

Beautiful beautiful job ❤
Thank you... next step is to finish the pages!
I love that you're using an old novel! That's SO much fun. The book is getting a new life and new stories. It's so much fun watching you, and I'm learning everytime I watch your videos.
That's such wonderful feedback to read, thank you. I'm delighted you're enjoying the videos, and I hope you'll be inspired to have some minutes of fun of your own very soon! Thanks so much for your company on this creative journey.
Already love "Books books books" and I enjoyed the start of these pages as much as the finish. Maybe I should have watched your videos in better chronological order, but I have enjoyed every one of them, so not gonna stress over it! Thanks Alison!
Topsy turvy timing... but who's worried?! Very happy that you have enjoyed making your way through the back catalogue. It's been a pleasure reading your thoughts as you watched - thank you.
Always so inspiring! Thank you sharing all your creativity and ideas! ❤
You're so welcome - very happy that you feel inspired from watching!
