According to Wikipedia the current railway station was opened June 1, 1882 when trains stopped using the station at the Strand. if your figures are correct the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel was there 10 years before the station change so it not surprising they went bankrupt if the station was at the other end of town!
Brilliant venue for live music the Queens back in the day, had some good nights there watching bands👍🏻🤟🏻

My father knew almost every pub in Barrow, and was more than likely thrown out of all of them for fighting.
