Great introduction to the background of this song and the previous artist and songwriters. I was just like you are SPEECHLESS. This guy brings me to tears, if fact I ran out of tears and I rarely cry. This performance hit me right in the gut. I am glad I found this artist and and this song.

Thank You D, Lynn for acknowledging The original by Bonnie Raitt! I have been frustrated watching reaction videos with the younger viewers who have no idea that this is a "cover" of one of the best written songs of the past 60 years. Bravo; and now I am subscribing to your channel for your thoroughness,
You did your homework girl! I. love. It. Teddy's cover was so soulful that it got more of an emotional reaction out of me than Bonnie Raitt's did for me personally. Both lovely. (also, the blue hair... Fantastic! )
Never heard of him or his songs... love love love this ... and him! Truly an unexpected voice to me, too! I find other reactors lacking now because no one does the research that you do and hands out such neat info as you do. I agree.. Luther.. for sure.. Thanks D for caring so much!

What a great reaction!!! I really appreciated that you took the time to research the song and artist!!! Love Teddy Swims, he just finished a tour and I saw him in Toronto (his only Canadian stop) and it was a fabulous show. You got a new subscriber here!!
D, your in initial facial expression and reaction is common amongst those who first hear Teddy sing this song. I highly recommend that you view more of his and his band’s cover songs.
Love Teddy! I'm particularly fond of his covers of Sara Smile, Thousand Miles, Either Way and Let Me Love You. All so different and all so amazing! I just missed him in Boston. He was sold out so fast!
Your analysis is quite stunning. You have a great presence along with smooth diction. You deliver your commentary with clarity and thoughtfulness. In short, your a natural. Keep up the great work. You have a new sub who looks forward to your future videos. Cheers
hi D, Bonnie's version tears me up. When Bonnie released it, i was in a personal relation with a girl who could sing her songs so it would bring tears to your eyes and raise the hairs on your body. I couldn't love her because I had been so hurt in a just prior relation. I just couldn't trust anyone then, though i dearly wish i could have. . it still hurts...such a poignant song... sending my best, ~tjb~
Well, thank you for subbing and for this comment! Bonnie's version touches me as well...almost to a point that I can't listen (but I still do!). I hope you find the one that will give you the love you need and vice versa. Take care, friend!😁💜
I enjoyed and appreciate your thorough research. Bonnie Raitt's version was/is my favorite female version. Teddy for me, hands down, is my favorite male cover. And it draws tears every time I hear him sing it. The other male covers I've heard were nice but they gave me the "I'm gonna do this song" vibe...I felt like his was on a more personal level, and I felt a true lost love in his interpretation.
he's not Luther of course but i was thinking the same thing. maybe it;s sort of luthers style. i loved tour breakdown of the song, it was great. thumbs up

I think it sad some people can't acknowledge that men feel pain too it's just that society doesn't like to let us express that pain and emotions......check out his version of Sara Smiles!
I recognize that men feel emotion, and I love seeing it! The way that he sang this, I felt that he had some sadness there, but I also got a bit of indifference, maybe, when he says, "...but you won't" there's a difference of inflection and tone that he used compared to the way Bonnie says it. Of course, I wasn't there to ask Teddy how he felt while singing it, so I'm going by how it sounded to me, hearing it for the first time. Not you, S.A., but some have tried to turn my words into "he's a man, so his feelings are insignificant" when that's _not_ what I said at all. Sorry...《end rant》
So when a woman sings this song you feel her pain, but when a guy does you asume he's like 'whatever'... Even though this 'male version' is very soulfull thus emotional. I really don't get this...
Nope. I said her version made me feel her pain (which I mentioned how it was done in 1 take to capture that feeling). His version, yes...soulful. Emotional. Deep. Effin good....I just felt a different perspective because of the way he sang it, the inflection of certain words, etc. That's just my opinion...I am not him. Not sure how he felt when he sang it. I'm not even sure how Bonnie felt. I wasn't there with either one. You good?
Okay I'm going to be brutally honest and it's not going to be a popular opinion. I respect that @BBBYpsi! That's why I mentioned that both versions made me feel different things. Of course, I lean toward Bonnie's emotional performance, but Teddy put something to it that I can't describe, but I liked it. And I get it about the overproduction, but his vocals still came through, I think. And I'll check out Sam's version too, thank you!😁
