As the next line states, the ultimate detective’s role is to expose the blackened.

this song is basically death note and how light views the world heres my quick analysis of this song: “what do you desire” rings in my war like a lie somehow my world seems to have been bugged. this is in reference to when Light first gets the death note, ryuk asking him “what do you desire? what r u gonna do with it?” his world being bugged represents corruption and his desire to become ‘god’
Worldy desires obstruct our view . he says thats call equivalent exchange. so i drowned in his lies and gave into temptation. ‘worldly desires’ is light looking down on everyone for their small dreams stating that it obstructs their view. This second verse i feel is in refrence to the shinigami eyes “ he says thats called equivalent exchange “ as u give up half ur life for the ability to see ppls names just by looking at them.
