He speaks the truth. This is why wrestling sucks, work rate has been valued higher than storytelling and psychology.
Further more, back in the day I remember everyone having fun and imitating wrestlers. Austin, rock, hogan, warrior, Savage, jericho, foley etc. Who can you imitate in this current era of wrestlers? Nobody. How do you imitate rollins, reigns, ambrose, AJ styles? There are no main event guys that have that connection with the fans anymore.

    Wrestling sucks today because:
    -No larger than life characters
    -WWE
-No real storytelling that has continuity
    -promo's are god AWFUL
    -Too much product everywhere
    -No consequence to anything anymore

A huge part of what attracted me to the WWF as it was then when I was a kid was these larger than life OTT characters that at the time I didn't think of as characters but I remember just being so mesmerised by guys like The Undertaker,The Big Bossman,The Ultimate Warrior The Legion of Doom etc etc etc and those awesome names whereas now we have for the most part just ordinary sounding names like everyday people in real life using either their real names or real sounding names it is amazing how things change

I never really thought of you as a muscle mark, more of someone who appreciates actual talent. Wrestlers, Managers, and Valets that was unique or had a semblance of an identity. Honestly I stopped watching a couple years back, because everyone feels the same. You're right when you say that not every wrestler should look and feel the same with a similar size. Their shouldn't be guys I legit see as a joke and people I can go toe to toe with when I'm 6'1 175 LB.

I've given up trying to wrestle the stupidity Schlegdaddy. Too many people have illogical viewpoints on certain things in wrestling. And they'll stick to those viewpoints with passion. It's impossible to fight the stupidity with logic.

The ruthless aggression era from 2002-2008 in my opinion was the best because it had a combination of fun characters with interesting gimmick, cool storylines, and great in ring ability. The wrestlers of today have better in ring ability than the ones in the past but they are suffering from poor booking and a lack of character development.

I know for a fact I'm going to get hate for this. But here's my biggest issue with the WWE. If we have such a problem with no characters, why do we praise guys like Zayn? The guy has no character. Think of Rey Mysterio. The guy wasn't that big so his underdog gimmick worked. Also because there was not a lot of small dudes on the roster. As for Dolph Ziggler, he could've been the next Mr Perfect. The guy has that heel charisma that showed better when he was a heel. But the shit 'Show off' gimmick killed him. Also the bi polar booking. Now I like guys like Rollins, Miz and Ambrose. Why? Those guys have some sort of characters. Rollins when he was a heel. He could've been a top baby face but of course they failed that because they do and couldn't figure out to just turn him face when he returned. Miz was great all round. Loved his 'I'm awesome' gimmick. His main event push to Wrestlemania failed because he was the third wheel in Cena and Rock. Ambrose always had fan support and could've been a top guy but of course WWE fucks it up.

the part about variety needing to be in WWE is spot on. Not everyone on the roster need to be a technical wrestler. Smarks are turning WWE into an indyfest. I recently watched an episode of RAW from 04 and the women on that show had a limbo contest and Lita and Trish main evented. They showed we can have both why is it such a problem now?

Jeff, you know that these comments that you are a muscle mark are complete BS! BUT i am really worried, how things are going in pro-wrestling over the last years, because this "Indy - High Spot - no Character - no selling & no storytelling Style" has not only arrived in the minds of a lot of us wrestling Fans, it has arrived in the WWE itself. And if the WWE gives these loud & vocal Fans more what they want, i think the Product will go down more and more.
Like you Jeff, i also watched all "Modern Eras" of pro-wrestling, and it looks to me that the WWE, the talent and us Fans are on a way back to the days of the WWWF and the Territory Era (in HD), but without other big Territories like the NWA, AWA etc.and without the talent of these Eras. Like then, it looks like Wrestling stays in that bubble, and nobody cares about Wrestling anymore. BUT the ones like you, who do, get Twitter blocked by Wrestlers - or get shitted on by other Fans, oohh you're a muscle mark or other shit. But Jeff, Wrestling should be Fun again, the Hope dies last!!

In an older video you put it really well, you had Smokey give his support for Daniel Bryan right before he got his monster push...you and Smokey caused the Yes Movement! So anybody who labels you a muscle mark is clearly missing that tidbit of information!
But on a more serious note, the issue is the lack of characters. Bigger guys typically get a character and it's easy so they can excel at it. Take Strowman for instance, in character all he has to do is be big and scary and he's doing a good job. Same thing with Nia Jax. Now a guy like Zayn comes on the roster and what is his character? The plucky underdog? Well that'd be fine if literally 80% of the roster wasn't his size. In the past when you had this character the guys around them were bigger so it actually made sense, now it doesn't. Notice when they start getting some character the fans immediately get behind the guys again. I think half of the "kicky flippy fans" agree with you they just don't realize it yet

Billy Barnett MMA came from pro wrestling. The aspects of sport and theater in pro wrestling were seperated in the 1920's and wrestling focused more on the theater ever since. I think its gonna be reverse now going from theater to sport back to its original roots. That's why I think MMA is the future or could be the future if WWE accepts that.

It's not a coincidence that the two biggest and most successful periods featured the jacked up dudes like Hogan warrior etc or aeesome characters like rock Austin Foley Kane taker etc. and furthermore it's not a coincidence that wwes ratings are the worst in 20 years featuring the smaller guys like Rollins and ziggler and Ambrose when 20 years ago you had bret and Shawn at the top. granted bret wasn't doing all the flips and kicks but nonetheless my point still stands

to me I love independent wrestling and the performers but I do think once u hit the big leagues which is WWE u need to get a character maybe not a corny cartoon character that doesn't work cus it doesn't but a character that people can relate to like an Austin or a Brian Pillman type. I like my wrestling and all but I also want guys with personality and there are some guys on the roster who have personality (Enzo, Owens, Cass, Big E, Kofi, Seth(as a heel), Dean, AJ, Braun and Rusev) but those guys don't even come close to guys like Austin, Rock, Jericho, HBK, Macho Man, Piper, Dusty, Eddie and Edge in terms of personality and its sad. I don't hate what wrestling has become BC there is a lot of talent but it definitely needs some fixing they need to utilize their performers better like get a better understanding of who they are as a person and go for it.

  • @SuperDj316

I agree with a lot of things you said Jeff, there is definitely something missing in pro wrestling today. Wrestling characters are very bland and it seems that no wrestler today can measure up to those of the past. In my opinion though I really do believe that there are a few who have great potential. Indy or not Indy aside, Finn Balor has great potential. I think he is much more than just an entrance and flashy appearance. He hasn't really had a run on the main roster yet due to his injury so we need to give him a fair shot first. I also think that shinsuke nakamura has a certain kind of presence and great charisma. He is also original and unique. We can only speculate how WWE will utilize him. I will say that I see a lot of potential in Roman Reigns as a heel as well. As hard as it is, you need to try to keep an open mind.

Love the video man. I feel you on the needing more story telling in the WWE. But I was thinking about how maybe the reason wrestlers tend to do more flips and kicks to try an tear the house down is booking. Think about it WWE is heavily scripted and the talents hands are probably tied a lot of the time. So maybe do to the 50/50 and poor booking it's sometimes all the talent can do to shine. I do feel you WWE needs better star power but I think it is more a booking issue than a talent issue. But I could be wrong. I do think a big reason you don't see guys as jacked in wrestling as much is do to the steroid bubble bursting and the wellness program. Anyways I like watching your take and views on wrestling. Keep em coming

it's more due to the fact that you are an iwc hipster who seems to want to to go against what you think the popular opinion of the iwc is just so can convince yourself that you are smarter than them. The problem is this is happening eveverywhere in pretty much ever other form of entertainment. It was become cool to hate what is perceived as popular. Key word being perceived.
I never understood why iwc hipster types go on about Internet darlings because there is no such thing whenever a wrestler starts to become popular the iwc turn on them. It has also become cool to trash smarks and indie wresting just look at the comments here. I have lost count of the amount of times I have defended so called internet darlings.
People want to convince themselves that they are individuals who are not afraid to go against popular opinion. Even thought their opinion is now the popular one.
The whole indie loving smark thing is a myth. Many in the iwc go out of there way to not be thought of as that and become pretty smug about it.

That's the problem with social media. People get offended too easily and want to attack you for your opinions. If I don't like what a person says, I'll respect their opinion and keep it moving. People love Shawn Michaels. I can't stand the dude. Never saw what others see in him. I liked his tag team partner Marty Jannety better. Watched the entire vid, here is your big issue, you have your opinion on wrestling and that's it. If wrestling isn't what you want it to be it's shit.
Just stop watching wrestling and stop talking about it, you are the very definition of wwe mark. You know NOTHING outside of the wwe world. You only know such things when they cross paths with wwe.
So no, I'm not the idiot here, you are. I am willing to see your viewpoint, but when people call you out and say you are biased and or too negative, just responding with "you're a fucking idiot" doesn't cut it.
So learn to adapt with the changing times, the wrestling business is not what it once was. Is that bad? Some people will say yes, some people will say no. You will shit on anybody defending Indy wrestling though, and act like the wwe is the end all be all of wrestling.
