      I'm liking it so far, it has a very noticable reduction in waste.

    Always better to buy it in big sacs, so much cheaper than almost £25 the kilo for a 2 kg bag. Sharing with friends helps, especially after this fab tip with the vaccum bags. Thanks Dave for this

      Thanks Lau, 😀
      i'm probably going to share a 15kg bag of colour food with a mate, as I will only need half a 15kg sack at most.
      European koi food should be so cheap, Saki Hikari would struggle to compete.
      If they can sell 15kg of Saki Hikari at £67 a bag in Japan... why can't the big koi food brands in the EU do the same over here?
      imagine the fight they'd have, if the UK struck a trade deal with Japan, and Saki Hikari was £80 for a 15kg sack in the UK 😂

      @@DavesKoiPond absolutely. Tax, shipment, tax again from government, VAT probably and greediness here... But yes I agree.

    That’s a pretty good price for saki in UK. Here in Canada I buy the 2 kg bag for $100. That is $50/kg or about $33/kg UK.

      Thats the problem buying the small retail bags, not the big bulk bags.
      Saki Hikari balance is only £67 for a 15kg bag in Japan.
      so with Shipping/Handling/Importation/Warehousing/Distribution and then retail doubles the price...
      But Canada is closer to Japan than the UK so shipping should be cheaper lol!😁
      over here 2kgs of Saki Hikari growth is £41.95 so £22/kg
      If you won't use a whole 15kg bulk bag, it can work out cheaper splitting one with a friend.😀

    Hello, I am in the United States in an area where we have all seasons. We bought new fish and for some reason it lost almost all color. I looked at the color formula by this brand and am wondering if you may have tried it or it works? I also saw many videos about mixing the growth with color

    • @DavesKoiPond
      @DavesKoiPond  Рік тому

      There can be lots of reasons a koi loses a lot of color. 🙂
      A lot just comes down to genetics, one of the most expensive koi in my pond, a breeder certified sanke I bought at tosai, has lost 99% of it's beni...
      yet most of the other fish have done well...go figure...
      Color food can help to maintain beni especially when growing in the summer.
      Some feed a percentage of saki colour food all through the summer, and so do I, currently at 25%
      Others only feed colour food at the end of summer growing season.
      Blending it in with the summer food over two weeks, up to feeding at 100% colour food for 3-4 weeks, then blending it out again over two weeks.

      @@DavesKoiPond yeah I understand but it’s happened to 2 of the fish in the pond. We bought them very bright and vibrant and suddenly the color just turned white. I have a 1100 gallon pond and have filters filtering for 2200 gallons. The water quality seems ok. We originally started feeding them on the tetra koi vibrance. Our pond store reccomended a high protein growth food which I forget the name of. We then switched to blackwater koi and goldfish food. We then switched to another because they were very pricey. Now the fish are eating blue ridge platinum pro, which I’ve seen is a decent food. However the fish have lost color when on this food. I am wondering if the hikari saki growth and the color formula. The fish are about 3.5 - 1 year old and we have 13. The largest fish who is 3.5 year old is about 12-13 inches. I feel like that’s odd because other fish that are 2-3 years old are 22in + . We also have problems keeping the water clear I don’t know if that corresponds to food. (Clearly you have been in the hobby longer and know more so maybe you can help before I get expensive koi food for it to not work)

      @@deankelly4653 when you say the color turned white I assume you mean beni (red)?
      Colour koi food only enhances and strengthens the beni, especially when growing quickly.
      A lack of colour koi food wouldn't be the cause of beni (red) suddenly disappearing.

      @@DavesKoiPond sorry I don’t know the exact names but he had lots of red and black on his head and side and white the rest of the way down. Suddenly the color faded to white and the color spots faded more and more and now the color is about 10% of the size when we got him. All the previous color has turned to white

      @@DavesKoiPond the pond water quality is very good too with 7 ph 0ppm of ammonia and 0ppm of nitrites so that can be equaled out of the problem

  • @magicchessboyastroassassin9274

    It ok for goldfish?

    • @DavesKoiPond
      @DavesKoiPond  Рік тому

      I would imagine that a gold fish would ideally need a different nutritional profile,
      hikari do a range of goldfish foods too.
