I really respect SKYND for not naming the song after him. His entire motivation was wanting attention and it feels like such a satisfying middle finger to talk about the case but not give him what he wanted.

coming back after -th time of listening to this and i noticed that this is the first SKYND song where they dont use the perpetrator name at all. and its very symbolic to Luka Magnotta case since he wanted fame all along, so his name would be known in the world but even there SKYND made a great choice of cutting this down and putting a very popular quote as the header instead of Eric chosen name. good job!

@@user-vb1xe5ln9t come to think of it, it’s not the first time they did this. take columbine (name of the school), bianca devins (name of the victim), and heaven’s gate (name of the cult). but this title is definitely the most far removed from the case itself and open for interpretation.
this band has like 15 tracks but since every single song goes hard af, it feels like they release 2 albums a year, they've been in my headphones for 4 years without a single flop, how tf is that possible?
Found it interesting that in an interview she said she will not make an album because she would feel like it would be favoring certain cases and she wants them all to be shown as equally important.

@Lovesausage269 often times so called fillers turn out to be hidden gems, and when u release 3 songs a year then there's not place for experiments, too much responsibility, I think at some point they will get tired of this gimmick and at least release an EP with not related to the scum of the earth lyrics

Jun Lin deserved so much more in life than to be associated with this horrible story. He was described as a reliable friend who was genuine and shy. He was from Wuhan and trying to make a new life in his early 30s in Canada studying computer science and engineering. He was a gay man who had not been treated with acceptance and so he was trying to find a more accepting community. He just wanted to have fun and just trusted someone who took advantage of that. The person who killed him didnt even see him as a person. But he absolutely was a full real person who had a life ahead of him he was robbed of and is missed.
Thank you for not writing the name of that person!

How ironic, that the evil killer would be caught by the help of people watching his movements on the internet, the very platform that he craved fame.

I have to disagree. I didn’t expect them to actually play the snuff videos and then the people being interviewed KEPT talking about details of them. I was looking away and humming over what they were saying and bawling my eyes out for two whole episodes. Just over knowing what the snuff videos were titled. I was asked why I was continuing to watch something so deeply upsetting and it was only because I wanted to know that the cats got justice in the end and was too scared to look the case up incase I found out even more about the snuff videos. I was relieved when he FINALLY moved onto people in the third episode! And, sadly, after all that, I don’t even think the cats did get justice. I might be wrong, but I think he only got convicted for the human murder he did 😪

Another stellar song by SKYND! Beyond thrilled we were given the chance to be in the video, as I think this is just as much a song about Luka Magnotta as it is a love letter to us, the fans. Great to see so many of us represented!

@@LifeIsntTheOC I think when using case names, they base it off the most recognizeable name of the case. Bianca Devins as a victim was more recognizable than her killer. Same reason why I'm imagining "Marshall Applewhite" on her live setlist was changed to "Heavens Gate" upon official release. Also same reason Michelle Carter's name was used instead of the victim's.
Also if nothing else it was a personal statement against Magnotta for him being a narcissistic fame seeking douche nozzle.
It's a fantastic idea to make his name forbidden as a password that shouldn't be shared between people. That's absolutely right. And thank you for your art, Skynd 🖤

I love very much that SKYND leaving some visual breadcrumbs for the people acquainted with the case, but at the same time, require to dig deeper for the ones without the necessary knowledge. And after few documentaries and learning more about the case described you start to understand tiny visual details of the video anew. I love this feeling very much and the band is doing it in a masterful way. Well done!

I still remembered watching the documentary Don't F*** with Cats and seeing the horrifying videos of the cats he tortured and killed.... It disturbed me and angered me so much that I still see flashes of the cat's faces from time to time and i want to cry. I hate - with every fiber of my being- people who hurt animals. Top of my list if the the purge was real.
I am with you even though i skipped over that part in the documentary. After a few moments i just couldn’t watch it.
I know its a small comfort years later but that cats soul is at peace now but i truly wish i could if saved him or them. Not even sure how many he killed. Truly heartbreaking
