I like these bite size 10 minutes videos relaxing to watch yet filled with interesting information.
Looks a lovely place , I’m with carol jam first . Then cream 😊
The £640,000 hotel was where we spent our honeymoon in April 1979. The hotel was then called The Conway Hotel. And you even displayed our bedroom, the one facing the camera, with the balcony! Made my day!
How lovely. The room with the balcony view looked wonderful ❤️
Oh I’d got Carol down for fish n chips or an ice cream. I agree the cream should be on the top. I also went there once as a child but don’t remember much. Take care Gill
Ken, when you sit and people watch, do you find yourself watching as an officer? As a retired teacher, I find myself watching children with my teacher radar being activated.😊
Always as a police officer. Always scanning everyone. Once you have walked the beat you can never get rid of it. I can spot all sorts of things that Carol never sees. I am sure you are the same. You will be attuned to reactions and looks between children. 👍
Interesting comments from you both. As a retired nurse, and an avid people watcher, my care radar is always active and I love giving others a helping hand if they need it 😁
@@alisonwilliams4889 Retired nurse here and feel the same.
It gets embedded in us! I am a retired teacher and trainer. I think we learn to read people. With hearing issues I can lip read too. 😊
Now that would be useful. 😁👍
We like Lynton. Used to go when the children were small. Very hilly 🤣. We went to the Vanilla Pod cafe last time. Clever design for the cliff railway. Cream on top for us. 👍😊
Carol certainly has a hearty appetite, it’s a good thing she can stay so slim and trim.
She has will power where I have none. 😁👍
A lovely place. The last place I took my dear old mum for a holiday. Nice memories ❤
Lovely to watch. Many memories at Lynton and Lynmouth over the years. Glad you love it there too..xx
There’s a new name you called our lovely Carol, Chutney Brown ha ha made me giggle. Still love watching yous both ❤
This looks a lovely place, the scone looked delicious and it really does make a difference to the taste, cream on top for me too! Thanks, Em 💜
As usual, a great morning jaunt. I seemed to miss Lynton when I lived in UK, I did have a client in Barnstaple (law offices), so managed many forays into the surrounding districts, from north of Ifracombe to south of Tintagel, then later zipped across to Plymouth, next client, affording trips as far as St Austell... The areas of North Devon & Cornwall always appear to be movies sets awaiting Agatha Christie type adventures. Here it is New Years Eve, and has just started to lash with rain, welcome in to 2024. Take care & stay safe. Kia Ora from New Zealand. 💜💜
Hi Xavier. This morning I awoke to a message on my phone that our Volvo alarm had activated during the night. I can’t see any signs of a break in so it must have been the storm we had. I heard the wind when I went to bed but slept like a log. 😁👍
@@LifeistooshortCK Sounds like a lucky escape. 💜💜💜
Lynton is lovely and the view to the coast is stunning 👍. Scones and clotted cream with jam as well as a crab sandwich are so delicious 😋
Absolutely.
Lovely part of the world. Jam then cream on top for me too! 😊
Very quaint! Great coverage. Taking nothing away from both of you wonderful folks, but I really miss the other star of your show, the Little Red Camper. It's like a punctum in art for your vlogs. I hope your new camper will be just as endearing. Safe travels, my friends.
Time will tell. We sun up Airbnb v camper in the last episode. Then it’s back to the van
I hope you enjoy the coffee I left for you on your support list. Enjoy in good health!@@LifeistooshortCK
@@asaprocky8195 thank you so much. We appreciate your support ❤️
as an older person, I definitely respect getting an Airbnb occasionally to care for the body!
Yes sometimes when things get tough in the van it really helps to keep a trip going.
Thank goodness the Cornish cream tea won the day - even in Devon! 😂
There is still time for a diplomatic incident. 😁👍
Cream on top, baby. Absolutely.
Lovely little town
I enjoy seeing the buildings. Especially the stone structures.
I surely did enjoy the video. Thanks Carol and Ken.
Our pleasure!
You can't beat a cream tea ! Naughty but nice 😊
I've been to Lynton and Lynmouth a few times now and travelled on the weird railway, operated by water as you mentioned:) . Someone I know (Andy) runs or used to run the hardware shop in Lynton, Before he moved to Lynton he ra a small motorcycle shop "Swindon Classic bikes" about half a mile from where I live. I brought a brand new Royal Enfield 500 Bullet from him back in 2001 for £1900 :)
I always love it when videos trigger memories. Blimey that last camp of yours was wet but most enjoyable. 👍
Hahaa, I was a law breaker on that camp Ken, I committed the crime of Trespass, you can come and arrest me now:) @@LifeistooshortCK
I will serve a summons when we finally meet. 😁👍
I thought jam first… it sticks better”!
Thanks for letting us tag along. Beautiful village.
We love Lynton, great family memories there of many a day trip. Thanks for sharing.
Tut, tut Carol - eating a cream tea in Devon 'Cornish-style'...😂
But to be honest even though I was born and raised in Devon (right on the border with Cornwall), I also prefer the cream on top... 🤫
Great video thanks for sharing 😊
Nice to see you back😂
What a lovely place! Thank you for the tour😊
Enjoyed watching this video...we have been in North Coast cafe too...lovely 🥰
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
I have fly fished the river at Lynmouth, it’s like combining fishing with rock climbing, but beautiful nonetheless
Good morning Carol and Ken. Great video again One of our favourites Lynton and Lynmouth. As you say once you have been in the Job you notice things, appearances, movements that other people do not understand, it never leaves you. Happy New Year. Crawford.
Morning Crawford. Yep you couldn’t lose it even if you tried. I like it though it makes a wander far more fun 😁👍. Blooming stormy here last night. It set the car alarm off.
Love this area. The buildings are lovely and the walk to the Valley of the Rocks is so dramatic. It’s way easier than the walk down you did, which kills my knees!
we found scones and cream to be bit strange to us when we visited UK back in June/July, in Australia we use fresh cream not clotted and the scone is usually a softer texture ... ohh and of course the cream on top of the strawberry jam , cheers, Garry from DownUnder
As far as I am concerned they are a bit of holiday hype. Carol loves them and we sometimes have them at home. There is a reason for my view which I mention tonight 😁👍
Love it ❤❤❤ yummy scones x
I love having your program on while I’m doing my artwork it’s like having family on vacation and sharing it with me.
Great to hear ❤️
Nice place visit Lynton
Gosh that was just around the corner from where I was staying in May. I didn’t have transportation though. Next time. I must agree with you Carol, definitely cream on top!😉oh I am enjoying these hops around Devon. Thank you so much.
Hi guys. Don't do it lol. As for stories to tell. I started writing a book a few years ago about our lives and more of our guests...never has the expression... "you couldn't write it" been so apt!! 😁🐕🚙
You should share some of them in your videos. One at the end to keep them watching 😁👍
@@LifeistooshortCK now there's an idea. Would have to keep guests' anonymity lol 😆
When I was a kid I went to Lynton and Lynmouth with my parents, I found the cliff railway absolutely fascinating.
My English heritage is based in Hartlepool
I was working nearby and took my wife there back in 1999.
One year before we were told the world might end due to the Millennium bug. I remember working that night and it turned out to be very quiet with nothing going wrong at all. 😁
Thank you Carol about explaining your taste test.
Granted I’ve only had a cream scone twice in my life (American) but I always thought that having the Cornish cream on the bottom would be better because you could pile on the cream and it wouldn’t tip over and make a mess.
But I see that you can still pile it on top of the jam and get the great taste of the cream in the first bite😋.
Such a great video!
Carol can pile the cream on no trouble at all 😁👍
There’s an argument here between Cornwall and Devon as to which way round the jam and cream go. As a Cornish girl it’s always cream on top!
I’m enjoying walking down memory lane with the two of you. Keep them coming. Mary
Glad to have your company Mary 😀
I do love watching you two xxxx
I visited there more than 60 yrs ago and is still easily recognisable. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year!
Still worth visiting.
The Exmoor National Park centre in Lynmouth is where, starting this year, that I paint once a week and exhibit my work. It’s a lovely venue with stunning views (and the cream teas are delicious).
I watched your UA-cam videos. Lovely watching somebody paint. All the best for 2024. Hope you sell plenty.
@@LifeistooshortCK Many thanks, I really love painting but not yet braved being in a video, lol.
Lovely visit to Lynton and Lynmouth, looking forward to going there sometime soon. Definitely cream on top of jam on a scone😀I guess we'll walk down and return via the funicular. Happy New Year, Carol, Ken and the Little Red Camper ❤️🚐🍾 xx
Happy New Year 👍
Really nice and relaxing video. I’ve never been to Lynmouth and am inspired to go to this relaxing town next time I visit the UK.
It’s a very beautiful place. The two towns are quite different.
Lovely vid Carol & Ken 😁
Lynton looks absolutely stunning. Thanks for taking us there.
cool vid on channel keep up the cool vids thanks lee
Good one for you Lee tomorrow night 👍
Just what i needed... a little vid of loveliness to help me relax.
A lot of people need that these days. We hope it works for you 👍
Thank you both for all your hard work over the year, taking us back to some of our old haunts. Sometimes its best not to return to the old places !!!
Yes I know what you mean 🙂
Great video Ken and Carol.
That’s one of my favourite locations. I sometimes stay at Sunnylyn in Lynbridge and either walk from there to Watersmeet and back or walk down the river to Lynmouth, up the funicular railway to Lynton and back along Lynway to Sunnylyn.
We walked up the cliff railway path. It’s a killer 😂
Also love Valley or Rocks through Lee Abbey to Martinhoe.
Blimey you are fit 😁👍
@@LifeistooshortCK It’s good walking country. I’m sure you could make Sunny Lyn to Watersmeet and back. Stunning views on the way of the coast.
Wish I was there, I could just eat a crab sandwich! Have a great New Year tomorrow, all the best for 2024!
I love crab sandwiches but there is a place on Portland Bill that does amazing crab salads. Down by the lighthouse. Yummy.
@@LifeistooshortCK I have just been diagnosed with diabetes 2 it runs in my family, so trying to work out the best diet. It is sometimes hard to know what to eat, so today I have had boiled beetroot and cottage cheese. We are not obese neither, but I have always since puberty been a very curvy woman and coupled with lung disease finding it hard. I am only 55 and haven't been out of the house for 4 years, so your vlogs give me great comfort and a will to strive for better! All the best! Rachael xx
So sorry to hear that. Type 2 is reversible with the right diet. I think carbs are the enemy. Carbs are just sugar and cutting them down really helps me. I will be starting my diet on Jan 1st. Back in the day when my mum used to diet it was all about cutting down on carbs. Things changed and these days the NHS food triangle shows a lot of carbs. Mind if prices continue to rise as they are we will all be losing weight. Glad the vlogs help. Hope 2024 is good for you.
Had a few shrries too, being New Year! Forgive me for my bad English! LOL
Jam first then cream in Devon, Cornwall is cream first then jam
@@MartinLockhart We prefer the Devon way 🙂👍
Happy New year 😊😊
Happy new year
Slightly worrying I remember a thrupence and a sixpence …. Sort of defines your age ore decimalisation
Great little episode
Yes it does. Carol has since decided it must have been 3 new pence. Have I been scammed at the Alter Stew 😁👍
In all of Devon this is my favourite place. The first time I ever went to Lynmouth and Lynton I was having to walk with two sticks as a sleepy Lorry driver had tried to plough me and my motorbike into the Tarmac in the late Spring (1984 I think ) and having just started to be able to walk again I was too proud to use crutches. We walked down to Lynmouth and came back up on the funicular railway. We had tea and cake in that cafe on the opposite side of the road to the cliff railway entrance having had a big Pasty and a pint in Lynmouth for lunch. We had a Citroen BX14 one of the second year of production models but Madam didn't want to go back to the carpark yet. Oh no, she'd seen that little sign to the Valley of the rock and was obviously in a manic phase ( bipolar now but back then called manic depressive ) so off we had to go again. I just really wanted to go back to Mortehoe and our ridge tent and have a long lay down. Well I think don't know how I did but we did the circuit and I just sort of collapsed into the passenger seat. I couldn't doze of my first wife was no navigator so I'm now drinking the last of the Luke warm but much needed very strong Coffee in the flask. The following morning I woke up about 09.30 with oddly enough much less pain in my legs than I'd felt in absolute months. So although I went through some agonies in Lynmouth and Lynton ut has a special place in my heart and I've been back many times both when staying in the area as well as travelling West on a a day outing. It never really changes much and I'll answer your question in the thumbnail with a definite "TIMELESS" . Ohh and I can remember when that Townhall was also used at the Town Cinema. It's a beautiful Arts & Crafts piece of architecture. With acknowledgements to Bob & Bing, thanks for the memories. And I never did get on another motorbike, there was enough left to sell either. 🐻
Blimey walking down that hill in that condition is an achievement. No joke when that handrail ran out it was so steep our shoes were at their limit of grip. Valley of the rocks is a heck of a walk as well. I had a near miss on a motorbike. Height of stupidity I went to collect a Chinese takeaway. Less than half a mile. Road was wet and there was oil on a bend and I was down in front of oncoming traffic. A good driver managed to stop with my head just under the front bumper. Happy days 😁👍
@@LifeistooshortCK well I was younger then and overall fitter, plus on aa shedload of painkillers 😬 and I think that path was in better condition back then. Was actually able to return to work in October.
Happy New Year to you both
And to you 🎉🙂
Watching on what.is Sunday morning after what seems like 1 week of Sunday mornings 😂😂😂 best time to visit these places out of season az it is rammed in tourist season 😢 Now the question is : cream on top.or underneath the jam🤔🤔🤔definitely on TOP as Carole said ya can taste the cream 😊❤👌Sooooo did yomget the groceries in for next gew days???? Ready for New Year & the new campervan 🤔🤔
Very nice little village. Whochooses your background music you or Carol?
Ken chooses all the music. 👍
@@LifeistooshortCK thank you.
You’ve set a debate off between us about cream or jam on top. Claire has gone as far as to bring butter into the equation but thats probably against the rules 😂.
Forget butter try Tomato sauce.
@@LifeistooshortCK I’ll let Claire try that one first 🥴
Such a pretty place ❤
Happy New year to you both, and many thanks for the great videos in 2023😊
Happy new year!
Hi Ken and Carol, I love the videos. To be honest, I haven't been on much to see what's been happening. I miss the adventures of the Little Red Van. Are you going back to it ,upgrading or swapping for bnb
Looks like you have missed the updates then 🙂
👍

Enjoyed Viewing Thanks 🙏🏻 It must be so time consuming replying to all the comments. Please don't worry about replying to me, save a wee bit of time. Xx❤
I always picture Devon to be a much larger city. Were you in what an American might call ‘Old Town’? The original downtown or seaside part of a city that works to maintain the quaintness of a section, the original or older part of town that is distinctly different from the more modern parts?
Great video!
Hi there. I can see that my introduction misled you. We were in Devon but Devon is the name of the County. The town was Lynton. 😁👍. Most towns still have their old centres in the UK.
I know you watch other youtubers, but do you watch Ruth Aisling? I’ve just discovered her videos and really enjoy them. She has a red van too!
We watch Ruth 😁👍
Sorry mate I think your message should there are her own channel

Nice little video. Just a shame i had to witness a scone being murdered. 😂
Yes the police are still investigating and she thinks it may have been a mistake to publish this one. 🤔😁
Hi Carol, n Ken just a quick question, when are you getting the new nova van ? Just curious as I've been looking at the reef. Cheers Andrew
