    Correction: Mater Dei lost vs SC

  • @Averdult
    @Averdult 7 років тому +20

    I go to mater dei and I used to see bol everyday, I didn't talk to him much but when I saw him the most is when we were in detention every time I've had detention I would see him in there he always had that look like he doesn't want to be there and I've even seen him throw shade at one of the teachers, I don't blame him I think the school and most of all the teachers here are too disciplined as they always believe to keep the students perfect with a high expectation. I'm a junior and this is my third school, my last was a military school in Carlsbad and when I see how disciplined the teachers try to be with their power of handing out detention like it's nothing it makes me laugh, like really??? I just took my damn phone out for 1 second to check the time ! I do dislike this school and I can see why he left, just like I'm going to leave next year too (don't show my teachers this)😂 btw PJ was a homie n was in my English class and we would always talk about how the academic and athletic side is always getting fucked up with disciplinary side the teachers give us 0 tolerance and we had it like sry mater dei but we aren't all your perfect students that should live up to everything y'all say. This the real side behind monarch pride and what most students feel here

    ok I go to mater dei and is in the same grade as Bol Bol. Literally, the kid had to either leave himself or the school was gonna do something about it. Putting aside the fact that, yes, it can be easy to get a detention (mostly depending on if you get a strict teacher or get caught just being plain dumb) but it can also be very easy to just not get a detention. Also, despite whatever situation, or how unfiar, or how "bad" our basketball program was or would have been for him, his academics sucked. And contrary to what some people belive, Mater Dei also holds VERY high standards on their academics and not just sports. He needed to keep at least passing grades and Bol Bol just didnt give two shits. I've actually heard talk straight from some of my really chill teachers who had him saying, no matter how much they tried to help him or ask him to simply turn in stuff he just blew them off and actually had an overall bad attitude. Sooner or later he would have been benched from playing basktball because of failing grades and many unattended detentions and then proabably kicked out of the school.

      ps: one hour Saturday detentions can be turned into 2 or 4 lunch details (dont remember real amount because i've never gotten a detention) which is basically just pushing around a trash can for like the last 20 minutes of lunch. Literally the type of people who get detentions are girls who have their skirts literally stopping at their ass and guys who actually dont wear the uniform or are very unshaven. And then there are those few who manage to get 7 unexcused tarides in one semster and find themselves with one one hour of detention. Its legit private school problems but its also what you sign up for when you want to go to a school like Mater Dei.

    After reading these comments it sounds like Mater Dei is a very strict school that hands out discipline very easy, almost too easy. From the sounds of it Bol had a Saturday detention and he most likely thought it was BS so he didnt go to it. Mater Dei being over aggressive, suspended him. Bol most likely should have just shown up for the detention but when your that talented and can go to school anywhere you want, its easy to see why he did what he did, even if he wasnt right.

    • @thatguy7485
      @thatguy7485 7 років тому +2

      Bol was not showing up to school or games for weeks because he was literally at rap concerts instead. Of course he got a 4 hour detention and then he didn’t show up to that. Flat out disrespectful to the school and coaches who do so much for this kid.

    • @noneofyourbusiness747
      @noneofyourbusiness747 5 років тому

      It's a Catholic school, what do you expect? If you fuck up, you're going to be disciplined. Just because someone is good at something doesn't mean they should get away with doing whatever they want. People don't like entitled people and that can effect people professionally in their adult life.

    And of course you get a four hour detention for a reason, (served on saturdays btw), idk what bol did but its easy asf to get that here, I have one due in 2 days because I didn't go to all my detentions in a span of 4 days because I went to my vball practice after school instead of that, one day I missed ! One! Most likely why he got the Saturday school too I'm guessing

    Great thing he did. That school for at least twenty plus years have been overrated. One of the top schools every year, has only produced one NBA player. They get you to the best colleges no doubt, but never a long NBA career. Other sports especially football, quarterbacks University you're going to the league. He'll ball out, without having restraints on him.

    • @HoopDreamz
      @HoopDreamz  7 років тому +2

      They have had a lot of players play in the NBA such as Tristan Thompson, Cory Joseph, Avery Bradley, and more. They have only been around for about 10 years, and over the past ten years, they have produced as much basketball talent as just about anyone. I will be making a video of this topic soon!

    • @matthewbnumber3
      @matthewbnumber3 7 років тому +1

      They have the number one program and the coach at mater Dei is the best coach in the nation. His winning record speaks for itself. Now a lot of the players from mater dei are talented, but don’t make the nba because all the kids from that school party a lot, smoke a bunch of weed, and there’s lots of distractions. The players then go on and continue their off the field issues in college and I️t bites them in the ass. I went to mater dei as did all of my family. It’s just the way I️t is.
