Cars and Coffee here in Australia is just like you describe. My 2006 Forester sitting next to a mint restored Datson 1600. Appreciating other peoples interest is a show of respect and bringing people together which during these tough times is what it is all about.
I learn the most about different cars, my own car, and working on cars from talking to other people. I have a 2004 WRX and just being a part of the subaru community is huge to me. But the biggest thing I get from going to car meets is just it helps motivate me a little to stay into cars. See, I was always into video games, comics, etc, and the thing that helped me get into cars a little is knowing that they're out there. I may never get super powers, become super rich, or anything I see in the media. But if I work really hard, do what it takes, and stay motivated, I can have a car that itself is worth something one day. I can have something really cool one day, I can have what to most people is impossible. Car meets you can not only meet like minded people, but you can also meet people who know what it takes to get there. I can talk to the guy with a GTR or Porsche 911. I can ask the guy who owns a Hellcat what the pros and cons of it are, how he got there, and what he pays. I remember my first dream car was a 2004 WRX STi, and I worked my ass off to get the 2004 WRX I have now. It wasn't exactly the Subaru Rally Blue STi, but it is modded to have about as much power as an STi and look the part too minus the badging. I never upbadge, if one should ask if it is an STi, imma tell em' it's a base WRX. Though it has beaten newer STis. But having attained what I used to call my dream car, it makes it worth it in many ways. I no longer pine after cars and even though I still look at online ads for various cars, I always reach the same conclusion. " I don't really want a new car, I just want a car that doesn't have the problem my WRX does." Then I usually seek out to fix it. Which the community is amazing for, I find my subaru enthusiasts specifically because I live in Wisconsin and I even work with one and he has so much knowledge and experience dealing with just not only subarus but cars in general. I have met soo many subaru people around here and online even, buying parts is easy, working on them is easy, though it helps I am a mechanic, and it is more reliable than people give them credit for.

When I had my BMW 330i ZHP I use to go to H20i in Maryland, I’ve gone to Virginia for a ZHP Mafia Meet it was great! Meet a lot of people who actually give advice on not only cars but life! I’ve been to Vermont for car meets. I live in New York City and sold my car a while back, but I do miss the cultural. Great people, great rides. Awesome video!
Cool that to hear SB putting out content again! Car meets are great, especially when the weather is good and the coffee is plentiful. I attended a few local ones just to find out about the better local independent shops.
Facts it messes up the perception of car people making us out to be criminals. It’s wrong to assume all car people are like that but then again I don’t blame the people that know nothing about it
The local meets in my town have introduced me to so many people who have changed my life, I met my housemate there, my now work colleagues who helped me get a job as a mechanic. It even helped me reconnect with my brothers more than I have in my life. The people I've met aren't just friends but they're a family to me. I even got into skateboarding through going to the meets and which led to meeting my now partner. It all started because I made my mum get in the car and go to a meet in her beat up commodore. Car meets truly can be life changing.
i'm really glad yall are putting a good example on display for people entering the community to follow, and you hit the nail on the head, people hear about these takeovers on social media, the news whatever and think that the whole "locally hated" or outlaw mindset is the car community. i wish more voices in the community would openly condemn these takeover meets. thanks G&G
Oh, I will also add. Going to car meets are a fantastic way to network for employers. I met my business partner at a car meet. Some of my other friends have met with VP's and Exects at car meets and have later on gotten employment due to meeting someone at a car meet.
Autocross events can also be a great way to see interesting cars, how they drive at 10/10ths and possibly drive them as well. On fun run days a lot of owners are pretty open to letting someone take a lap, or at a minimum letting them do a ride along.
Car meets are awesome. The anonymity of the internet brings out the toxicity in most people, but real world interactions with other people who are just as passionate about cars as you are is something amazing
Since when I was 17 I use to go to car meetings. For sure a lot of my friends I did in there and most of my best stories till now I did with them. Cars can be a really good to socialize and the car community, werethever you are in the world, always will recive you and made you feel nice. I experienced that when I went to US and try to know some car meetings in there. My english is very poor, and I almost couldn't chat, but every one who I've tryied chat was amazing, very patiently, and it make all the difference to me
Is the sheer Passion and undeniable sense of a sense of emotion is truly special in this video. I've often wondered where the car culture, specifically the car scene has gone. Seeing this video truly brings help 2022
not that anyone asked, but for me car meets are like going to an art museum. you've got history, different perspectives, and new ideas. This is why I love diverse car meets. Ive built my cars based on things ive seen from many different cars. everything from American muscle to jdm builds.
If some of the meet footage is from Katie's on Saturdays in VA, I will definitely be heading out more often in my 3K or Stealth in the winter so I can hopefully meet all you gentlemen!
I found the car scene in Calgary by accident going to Canadian Tire and it's amazing. Nothing going on in the winter but meets every week during the season and other events too.
It’s funny because once you get to an event and start talking to people you realize this other people LOVE talking about their cars so the knowledge transfer is huge
Somerville NJ has been having packed cruise in's for over 25 years. Oldies take over all the main street curb parking (now with more Malaise era/Radwood cars to add some flavor), stores see late hours with increased business, and everyone has a good time. About a decade ago there used to be a DJ playing music in the halfway point of the strip but that has yet to return.
This year I bought my GTI and I went to my first car meets. I've made so many friends and it's improved my social skills and my confidence so much. I absolutely love it! In my area night meets are really the only option, day time shows are more for classics and supercars here. But luckily the night meets I go to are with chill people that have zero tolerance for dangerous illegal bs

At work we raz on each others cars all the time, but we also respect the builds, I make fun that my VQ35DE lives a quart of oil at a time! One of the girls has a Subaru that we always ask (Do you smell coolant?" but it's all mad respect.
i've learned a fuckton online about cars and the car community, but the toxicity online that i saw(as a 15 y old) made me include going to actual car meets and events in my 2022 things to do list and when i move to canada(soon) ill start going to track days and drift events in ontario and alberta and possibly in the us. This video has just come at the right time ,thanks G and G :)
You know what guys, I'm glad that gears and gasoline made this video. I had just recently acquired a Subaru Impreza 2.2 l gc8, which is a rare car to get but when I got this car there is exterior and interior damage, but the car never had any issues. I've made it my mission all through 2021 to get this car the way I wanted it so I can go to car meets, but things just didn't spin off the way that I wanted it to. I thought that I wasn't going to go to a car meet anytime soon because I had to work on my car and I felt embarrassed driving it the way that it is. Another thing that social media does when it comes to car culture, is depending on the person sometimes it will make other people's projects look inferior and it makes the other person not want to interact with car culture even though they have a very high interest in those things. That's how I felt. I go to school for mechanics but I also want to be an F1 racer on the track. But, social media made it seem like my project was inferior the car that I drove was inferior and I thought that I was just not going to go to these car meets again. But, after watching just halfway through this video you guys are convinced me that despite where my car is in my build I should still have a good time and enjoy the car culture, and enjoy meeting new faces. That's another thing where I felt like I wasn't going to excel in. Meeting new people and meeting faces because of my car. Currently, my goal for 2022 (Happy New Year!) Is to get my car as much prepped as I can for paint etc but even if I can't do those things and have the body kit on just yet I'm still going to attend a car meet. I think you guys have encouraged me enough to go despite where my car is in my build. My own fam even fusses at me for not getting out the house and exploring what I like doing lol. I will also say this, you're not going to find me at these takeovers. They're stupid. And I honestly don't see a point in going to them. But I do like the park and chill ones. I also would like the exotic ones too. I think those are the ones I'm going to spend most of my time going to. Thanks for the video and happy New Year everyone! If you live out here in socal, you might just see me there at one of these meets, maybe.
congrats on the gc8 dude super nice car i personally dont like the social media influence on projects that just go overboard, do what you like and make you happy
@@yaskienugraha3343 thanks for that, bro I appreciate it. I'm actually going to be putting in parts with my friend today, he just has to go to his house and pick up a few couple tools. I've been really excited to finally put some of the stuff on the Subaru and bring out the best of it. It's not done, but it definitely won't be bone stock when I'm done with it. Lol. As far as these car meets in cali, a lot of them just end up being takeovers and at that point, I'd rather just take my ass home. Or find a peaceful place and drive somewhere else. Too many damn toxic people at these takeovers bro.
A major distinction I found was between Car Meets vs Cars & Coffees... C&Cs tend to be significantly more civilized and focused around the culture. Car meets tend to have more peacocking.
I’m just a teenager, can’t drive a car yet but I usually follow my dad to many different car meets every year. It’s such a lovely environment and would love to attend more when I’m driving my own car to show off as well. 😌
At least for me I go to car meets not only for my love of cars but I have a second family of people that would do anything for me in my area and it keeps getting bigger I found that community at my all time low and it definitely has given me something to look forward too even if there is nothing else
Totally agreed. Nowadays cars meet up has been very "segmented". They only meet up with same make model. Some even bother with what you turn up with. Once i was told "bro, you can't join us as your ride wasn't consider as super car". LOL
I miss the car meets. I’m about an hour west of Chicago and every time you go to meets they are shut down before I get there by police. They were definitely some of my favorite times though. Maybe this summer it will be different.
Here in East Germany the car meets are more tuning meets. When your car is not tuned you're boring. And most people are in their bubble of friends. So as someone who enjoys driving more than tuning I can't really relate to getting to know people at car meets. I met more interesting people at track days, but our biggest track here closed down the "free drives" and now we haven't much left 😪
Hey Ben. I'm a fan out in Ocean County, NJ. I just want to say that I'm happy you pulled through. I will always be a fan to Gears & Gasoline and hopefully I get a project car up n running and one day meet you guys.
car meets are awesome but with the harsh unpredictable winters here in Colorado the off season is REALLY an off season. Unless you have good heating in your garage you're not wrenching, unless mother nature shows some mercy for a few hours you're not driving, and nobody is hosting meets when the sideways snow hits in January. if you're into motorcycles like I am it's a whole other thing I don't have my own garage so to keep my wheels safe I need to rearrange my whole living space to fit a Harley in my living room. Winter sucks.
You guys are really doing a good job with your videos and I'm from Denmark I also go to car meets in Denmark it's awesome to see what people can build. I learned something new every time I watch your videos keep up the good work guys
Usually watch this at work in the a.m., but just got done seeing this video now and on my way to a meet out in AZ, what a kawinkidink.. Good to see your video again guys, keep it up for 2022 and so on! :D

Yep. We had a small but close Fiat 500 group in Houston a few years ago. Had done a few meetups so we were scheduling another one. Next thing you know someone reshared it on a Honda group and we had 500 "YES" clicks on the event in a day or two... Ended up having to cancel the whole thing, as we didn't want to risk even a fraction of those trying to do a takeover. After that the group just kinda fell apart. We were just getting going as a local group, maybe 5 or 10 guys would show up, usually a couple of newbies. After that it seemed nobody wanted to deal with the hassle of organizing another one.
I have trouble going to car meets because I'm kind of insecure about my car since it's such a work in progress, and really just hardly started. And no matter what changes on it I keep getting into the same loop
I'm the same way, always working on getting my Crown "perfect" before a car meet. My advice is if it's a general car meet not specific to your pride and joy, take a daily driver instead, or go in a friend's car 👍
You don't have to show anything off if you don't want to. Even showing up in something like a Nissan Versa is fine, but going, seeing and talking to people can be really cool
Just remember why you got into cars. It's hardly ever about what's done to the car or sometimes even what that car is. As long as you enjoy the car and have fun that's all that matters. I've seen people have the most fun in bone stock cars.
It really doesn't matter what car you drive, even before I had a car at all I'd get a ride in our family's beat up daily driver to go to meets. Car meets are about meeting new people and talking about cars. The only time where it matters if your car is perfect is at car shows where the cars are actually judged, even then it's just a lighthearted competition. Besides, you own an Evo, even if you see a lot of flaws in it I'm sure people would appreciate seeing it. Maybe you can even find other Evo owners and ask them for advice about the future of your project
If you go to morning or any day time meet in general it's always chill and most people bring cars that are still a work in progress. I was the same but I stopped caring about what people think.
Likely because my town isn’t big, but the meets I’ve gone to in my area I’ve found them to consist of groups of people that all dislike each other sadly, leading to a tense atmosphere that makes it very difficult to make friends. That being said though I have been to some that were a blast they just tend to be few and far in between, and almost strictly during the spring and summer.
You should do a video on a track day 'checklist'. Like, what you should do to prep your car etc. I've been keen to go out on a track day but am always worried my car isn't prepared...
I love going to car meets and seeing cars I’ve never even heard of! And also seeing cars I have heard of but would otherwise not get a chance to see in person
I move to a new city around 6 years ago and the first month I went to a car meet an meet great people and two years after that first car meet I went to one where I found my best friends to date
I like going to same model car meets. I went to a FJ80 Land cruiser meetup and was unable to put the hood latch back down. Apparantly you have to jiggle the cable a certain way and that its a common problem. love this about in person meets.

" I don't really want a new car, I just want a car that doesn't have the problem my WRX does."
Then I usually seek out to fix it.
Got an ig? I’d love to see the build
@@Ballsack44 It's nothing special, running a downpipe, straight pipe, intake, cobb ap, ots stage 2, aftermarket clutch. 300 crank hp is my limit until I do fuel injectors and bigger turbo.
I can’t believe that after all you’ve been through you’re still uploading quality content like this
When I had my BMW 330i ZHP I use to go to H20i in Maryland, I’ve gone to Virginia for a ZHP Mafia Meet it was great!
Thank you for bashing street takeovers. I'm glad people are speaking out against them
!!!
4:22 this is why I go to meets lol. Love the cars but lately I'm more excited about all the puppies that attend 😂🐕💙
maybe cool dogs and not rat dogs.
@@jordonboring3729 all dogs for me
i'm really glad yall are putting a good example on display for people entering the community to follow, and you hit the nail on the head, people hear about these takeovers on social media, the news whatever and think that the whole "locally hated" or outlaw mindset is the car community. i wish more voices in the community would openly condemn these takeover meets.
Agreed about autocross. I don't have as much free time as I'd like and I prefer to spend the day at the autocross rather than at a car meet.
My english is very poor, and I almost couldn't chat, but every one who I've tryied chat was amazing, very patiently, and it make all the difference to me
Welcome back Ben! Hope you are doing better every day
Is the sheer Passion and undeniable sense of a sense of emotion is truly special in this video. I've often wondered where the car culture, specifically the car scene has gone. Seeing this video truly brings help 2022
So good to hear Ben back on the channel 🤘✊
not that anyone asked, but for me car meets are like going to an art museum. you've got history, different perspectives, and new ideas.
My area, big planned meets are done for the winter season, spring is when things to slowly pick up but summer and fall is the big big meets
This year I bought my GTI and I went to my first car meets. I've made so many friends and it's improved my social skills and my confidence so much. I absolutely love it!
In my area night meets are really the only option, day time shows are more for classics and supercars here. But luckily the night meets I go to are with chill people that have zero tolerance for dangerous illegal bs
in Norway, winter is drifting season... everybody with tierd old rwd cars go out and play in the parking lots
Could you suggest some norwegian yt channels showcasing the local car scene?
Great video , Ben welcome back and stay healthy
Happy to hear your voice narration Ben!
i attended 9 car meets here in Texas during 2021, learned more than the internet could teach
Its good to have you back!
Why does all of your videos give me goosebumps man! it really hits different, gives me the boost of inspiration i need to work harder to finish on my project car. thank you so much Ben and Ben for giving us car people right knowledge and the boost of enthusiasm we need to hustle! thank you happy new year!
Glad to have you back Ben. Awesome video as always,
good to hear you ben, hope you are keeping well and fit!
This is a dope video. I met Dimitri at the DAP car meet at Lindsay VW a few weeks ago. Even though I didn’t understand everything he was talking about in terms of racing setup, it was cool to listen along. His MK7 is sick.
There was a great one yesterday, on New Year's Eve, in New Jersey. It was my first time going to a meet in months, and it was great talking to and meeting new people! I missed it.
been to one cars and coffee and one organised event in my whole life and I don't even have a car but even without a car its fun, seeing different styles, colours etc etc. As a young Car enthusiast I think its important that the elderly show us how to properly behave at one :). Because of those two meets I just can't wait to be apart of another one
These kind of videos always manage to reignite my passion for cars and why / how I even got into them in the first place
Good to hear your voice again Ben. Glad to see you've back :)
Please we need more videos in this series and playlist! Please this is just too wonderful…pure art
Ideally go to one in the morning during the daytime. Night car meets are a no-go.
Tldr
congrats on the gc8 dude super nice car i personally dont like the social media influence on projects that just go overboard, do what you like and make you happy
Lmao peacocking. "LOOK AT THE SIZE OF IT!"
The legend is back. Great video.
The only car meet i attended was one with over 2k attendees but looking forward to a local car meet.
I’m just a teenager, can’t drive a car yet but I usually follow my dad to many different car meets every year. It’s such a lovely environment and would love to attend more when I’m driving my own car to show off as well. 😌
When you get a car, I recommend to buy a cheap one first. Don’t go for a car loan with high price☺️
Cars and Coffee in the Summer by far was a huge highlight, miss it so much even though it was literally less than a few months ago
At least for me I go to car meets not only for my love of cars but I have a second family of people that would do anything for me in my area and it keeps getting bigger I found that community at my all time low and it definitely has given me something to look forward too even if there is nothing else
Good to hear your voice Ben glad your ok and back to the G & G grind homie!
As an Australian , its really nice to see a (Holden Monaro at 7:20 (time). You dont even see then is Australia anymore !!
Great to have you back Ben.
Only been to 2 and loved it but need to get over the fear of judgment or bad driving and actually go to more
Totally agreed. Nowadays cars meet up has been very "segmented". They only meet up with same make model. Some even bother with what you turn up with. Once i was told "bro, you can't join us as your ride wasn't consider as super car". LOL
anytime i see zx2 footage im happy, so glad to hear your voice again ben welcome back
I miss the car meets.
So glad youre back ben!
Hey Ben. I'm a fan out in Ocean County, NJ. I just want to say that I'm happy you pulled through. I will always be a fan to Gears & Gasoline and hopefully I get a project car up n running and one day meet you guys.
Its just for showing off to a big crowd in the desperation to be better/different/distinctive, and for all types of sellers to network and make money.
Ahhh i recognize that smooth seductive voice right away.......good to have u back my friend.
good to see you back, short ben!
car meets are awesome but with the harsh unpredictable winters here in Colorado the off season is REALLY an off season.
Same here. I live in Ohio and have no garage. Spring and fall are usually wrench time for me.
That’s cars and coffee in great falls literally where I live, I love the back roads there! 💙
G&G I'm excited to see what you guys produce this year.. Keep the great content coming, Happy New Year G&G!
Thank you for highlighting this. It's a huge issue in the car community
My university had a car club that would have car meets in parking lots around the area. Pretty sick cars and different variety too.
Takes me back to my youth. I feel old now but I really miss the old days.
You guys are really doing a good job with your videos and I'm from Denmark I also go to car meets in Denmark it's awesome to see what people can build. I learned something new every time I watch your videos keep up the good work guys
Wow, that's Katie's cars and coffee! Glad to see you guys there! Welcome back Ben!
Usually watch this at work in the a.m., but just got done seeing this video now and on my way to a meet out in AZ, what a kawinkidink.. Good to see your video again guys, keep it up for 2022 and so on! :D
Great vid guys! Welcome back Ben!
After a long time searching for the perfect example of my dream car to no luck, I eventually found it at a car meet and bought it the next day!
Just watching this video made me excited. I can't wait for this summer season!
The last meet I went to had 5 or 6 miatas and a 6x6 military truck. Towards the end, a group of newish chargers came in, did burnouts through the parking lot, then peeled out with a chorus of "boos"
Day time car meets are the best most of the time!
Take overs are the reason why I don’t do car meets anymore.
You forgot the idiots with g35s and 350z with there stupid backfire tunes who are only reviving the crap out of there cars
@@61936 even that is tolerable when you compare that to takeover

After that it seemed nobody wanted to deal with the hassle of organizing another one.
thank you for making a cool video on car meets centered about the DMV! Good to see you in videos again Ben!
Glad your feeling better Ben
I vlog all our car meets! I love it!
Likely because my town isn’t big, but the meets I’ve gone to in my area I’ve found them to consist of groups of people that all dislike each other sadly, leading to a tense atmosphere that makes it very difficult to make friends. That being said though I have been to some that were a blast they just tend to be few and far in between, and almost strictly during the spring and summer.
i go to car meets so i can be around people, i suffer from depression and it really helps to get outside and meet people who like cars like me
You should do a video on a track day 'checklist'. Like, what you should do to prep your car etc. I've been keen to go out on a track day but am always worried my car isn't prepared...
i've never been to a car meet but i've always wanted to go to one hopefully this summer I can get to show off what i go and get to know more people
Happy New year to all of you, wish you all the best ♥️
I love going to car meets and seeing cars I’ve never even heard of! And also seeing cars I have heard of but would otherwise not get a chance to see in person
I move to a new city around 6 years ago and the first month I went to a car meet an meet great people and two years after that first car meet I went to one where I found my best friends to date
I like going to same model car meets. I went to a FJ80 Land cruiser meetup and was unable to put the hood latch back down. Apparantly you have to jiggle the cable a certain way and that its a common problem. love this about in person meets.
