Along with the decks you featured here, Dotti Tarot and Vergnano (which I chose for my video) also are portrayed as shoemakers; I love to see them as artisanal shoemakers (because I love my shoes. LOL.) For the audience I went with Marco's Minchiate Magician, he's very charming and the colours are so nice! That Bosch Magician is so funny with his tin hat! Wonderful video!

The name of the card was Bagatto, bagatello in italian, Bateleur in french and mago in Spanish and Portuguese. It was the common name for the street magician, the one who does tricks with coins, cards etc. As you said, it was a low rank citzen. The Magician and the Fool were the lowest cards in the game of Tarot. It is interesting to see how the symbols and meanings are changing over time. Bagatto means magician. Bagatello is a "little magician". In italian, bagatello is used to describe something that has not a great importance. In portuguese, bagatela means "very cheap" or "very small", something without great value (example: eu vendo bananas pela bagatela de 5 reais - I sell bananas for the bagatela of 5 reais)

In my video that is the route I took (From Bagato to Bateleur (with the Mantegna Artisan thrown in for the good measure)) with 'crafty' being the theme for my choices of my tarot Magicians. I did omit the detour to etymology of 'bagatello' though, as my video was getting too long. LOL. I would LOVE to hear what YOUR choices for the Top Magicians would be Matheus. 😃
