Thanks! I have a Predator 3500 Inverter. I tried to start it this morning and the rope snapped in half. Thanks to your video I am up and running again!

Thank you for the helpful video. I think im going to Toss that bracket to hold the rope. This is my 2nd 3500 generator and ive only used the rope maybetwiceon both machines.,And they both have broken off ,roughly the same spot as where that bracket sits.

Thank you for the positive feedback Nick. Glad this helped you. It is a lengthy video but well worth watching the steps. The bracket is for the pull rope to feed through. Like a guide. Maybe it is causing friction on the the pull rope? Thank you for watching. Please like, share, and subscribe. Take care! TYMM :

Thank you so much!!! I really appreciate good folks like yourself in sharing how to do things!!! Really helped me fix my machine. I also removed the spark arrestor - we live at a higher elevation and this was the trick for us

Can you pull start it without the battery connected?

Thanks but I think the robe rarely break because people use electric start mainly

True. The primary is electric start but if battery gets weak or if the starter, CDI board, solenoid fails the pull rope will come in handy.

I'm leaving another comment. You do not have to remove the center nut on the pulley to re-string pulley. Clearly, he is doing it the hard way , I usually pull string out and wind pulley up , line uo holes and thread string in, and insert screw driver in opening on pulley to keep pulley wound up as I started any open frame generator is so easy to work on any enclosed generator is designed for a shop to work on this is crazy and this guy took too many components off to restring pulley

@jamesray3930 - This is the way I did it. Not much more work. I was able to measure the pull string out to the length it originally was by doing it this way. You do not need to pay for a shop to fix this, when you can do it yourself. All steps shown are needed. Best wishes to all DIY viewers. Hope this saves you all money and time. James, if you do not have anything positive to contribute then best not to say anything. Its not a good reflection on your character. I am here to help people.

Talk about adding about 1000 unnecessary steps.

All steps are needed. This video is for anyone who has never replaced the pull start rope. Done in real time. After watching this video it will save someone else time while repairing or replacing theirs.

Hi James. I have had my Predator 3500 inverter generator since 2020. It has been a rock solid generator for me. Only issues I have had are the starter went out and pull rope string broke. 1000+ hours on it and powers my generator nicely. A/C no problem. I think it depends on each persons experience. I can see how you may be frustrated but everything eventually needs maintenance at some point. Thanks for watching. TYMM :)

These are actually pretty good generators. Very compact inside though. So makes it a little more difficult to get at things.
