I'm really loving the design of this building! I always liked those super futuristic structures that a lot of Asian countries have been building lately so it's cool that MAD Architects (who built the Harbin Opera House) decided to build one for us here! Reminds me of one of those glossy spaceships you'd see on Naboo in the prequel trilogy mixed with Star Trek!
I agree!
WOW! Thanks John! Didn't realize how huge the museum is. Love the architecture. Can't hardly wait until it opens.
Both Chicago and San Francisco must be kicking themselves for not doing more to land this museum.
Personally, it was fate that it would be not only in LA but in Exposition Park because it's closing the circle and bringing Lucas back to LA. His legacy museum will be just across the street from where he started that legacy at USC. Sounds like a good story for a bio pic
Chicago and SF have this middlebrow concern with "good taste" which is why the art scene in both cities are stuck in the early 20th century. Both haven't really embraced contemporary art to be included in dialogue. Lucas museum isn't going to be on the level of MOCA or Hammer, but the rejection of it and being so proud of rejecting it doesn't bode well for Chi and SF's art scenes.
John; Thanks again for the upload! Very cool to see how it is progressing!
John, have you thought about doing a video on the construction of the new LACMA building?
I had, but I was contacted by them to take my video down awhile back. Not wasting my time there anymore.
@@JEK Wow, that's ridiculous and stupid on their part. The current director seems like an ahole from the little I've read about him.
They seem very uptight and protective with their architecture. Oh yes, Govan, don't mention to him about his project being delayed. Urbanize LA, you can still find them doing updates from time to time.
WTF, screw them. You don't have to take the video down, though, if you fly in a public space...
Diane vesgas salary last year was like 700k lol
Thank you again, John, for your excellent videos. I hadn't checked in on the progress of George Lucas's Museum for quite a while, and boy, am I impressed with how It is looking. 😮😊
Great music in the background............Where did you get it? Thanks!
UA-cam's free creator music.
Hey I know that exterior! Lol am currently working on the panels being placed on the outside of the building!
Thank you San Francisco and Chicago.
Their loss.
Was this supposed to be in Chicago or San Francisco? It makes more sense in LA.
@@Acevolt Yes, though the design of the museum changed with each city. Personally I think LA’s design beats the other two.
Lol...enough Lucas stuff in the Bay Area. only space large enough would be out in mountain view where the Apple and Google flagships are located. Still have Lucas Films in SF anyway the real magic is at Skywalker Ranch in San Rafael. a Museum is more like a Disneyland attraction for tourists so it fits LA perfectly.
@@christhompson6010 nah, yall lost out to LA. This is spectacular museum
Lol...when were you born yesterday ? Lucas films was sold off decades ago to a gaming company. your getting leftovers from a past era. basically table scraps. Lucas has pulled out of all that stuff including film control with the take over of Disney. No one is losing sleep in the bay area over this😂
My husband was one of the engineers who worked on this, I can't wait till it's finished. And see his work
Karma is real. San Francisco now is like Apocalyptic era. Businesses are closing.
Already iconic. This private museum looks better than LACMAs new building
OMG! The progress they've made is amazing! At this pace they'll probably open earlier than 2025. It's looking even better than the renderings. Fantastic! Thanks.
The Federation star ship Voyager has landed.😆
Well, to be fair, we don't have any idea how long the interior is going to take. The announcement of the 2025 delay was shocking to me but, LACMA is behind too, so there must be specific reasons why...
@@JEK Interesting. What I found surprising in your video was how much landscaping has already been installed if the completion date is in 2025. Landscaping tends to be some of the last things that are installed. So maybe the outside will be done in 2024 and, as you say, the inside will take a lot longer.
Probably figuring out the exhibit space...but who knows.
That’s so impressive! Thanks for the upload, John! 👊🏻
great footage and editing.
Thanks for the update 👍John
Great great stuff. Anyone know schedule opening?
Gorgeous! First 21st century styled architecture in L.A.
About time. Needs grass but otherwise, gorgeous!
My school is in front of it lmaoo
I appreciate how inefficient the design is
Good thing opinions only matter to the person who rendered it.
@@RB-gt8bf what about George Lucas isn’t he the one paying for it ?
It flooded, full of water
This really should have been in Modesto.
No one would drive out to Modesto. LA makes more sense.
