- Last song of Kill 'em All...
Presenter: Metallica
album: Kill 'em All
Lyrics:
Thunder and lightning the gods take revenge
Senseless destruction
Victims of fury are cowardly now
Running for safety
Stabbing the harlot to pay for her sins
Leaving the virgin
Suicide running as if it were free
Ripping and tearing
On through the mist and the madness
We are trying to get the message to you
Metal Militia
Metal Militia
Metal Militia
Chained and shadowed to be left behind
Nine and one thousand
Metal militia for your sacrifice
Iron clad soldiers
Join or be conquered the law of the land
What will befall you
The metallization of your inner soul
Twisting and turning
On through the mist and the madness
We are trying to get the message to you
Metal Militia
Metal Militia
Metal Militia
We are as one as we all are the same
Fighting for one cause
Leather and metal are our uniforms
Protecting what we are
Joining together to take on the world
With our heavy metal
Spreading the message to everyone here
Come let yourself go
On through the mist and the madness
We are trying to get the message to you

I love how you can instantly recognize Mustaine's style in this song lol.
Death 1987 album, on the avatar
Actually, you can recognize Mustaine's band in this song. It's very likely they got him out as soon as they could... or they'd get be sitting all the way down lol. 😁
How do you recognize Mustaines style ? I mean Megadeth's first albums, although technically demanding, sounded to me like a collection of fast riffs without cohesiveness. In terms of musical composition it's clear that this is not a Mustaine song. It's Hetfield.
@@makmanos Dave mustaine wrote this song as well as 3 other songs on kill ‘em all and 2 songs on ride the lightning
@@MyDixieNormis I wrote a reply and don't see it published at all so I am trying again. He didn't write Metal Militia. According to the Metallica Fandom Wiki, he wrote the main riff of the song. That's important but that's far from "he wrote the song" and the contribution of Hetfield and Lars to the song should be regarded at least as important as Mustaine's contribution if not more. I am not sure if you are into producing music, but a riff alone, or a solo, however great it might be, is just a component that could become a good a mediocre or a terrible song in some cases. So he was a contributor in some songs ( the only songs that were almost fully written by him were the mechanix which was released in a different tempo and with minor changes, most important being the more interesting lyrics, as The four horsemen, and Jump in the fire. If you go and read the wiki, you'll realize that in other songs that he is credited he contributed parts to them. Again it's easy to tell the difference between Megadeth (where Mustaine is the main author and composer) and Metallica songwriting. The early Megadeth albums are full of songs with a collection of technically demanding riffs but not as well formed musically as Metallica songs.
This song embodies the spirit of Thrash Metal, imo. It's simple, fast, heavy, aggressive and even has that 'punk' vibe to it. That chugging in the beginning fuckin' blows me away, everytime.
My God , what happened to this band. from this to Lulu and St.Anger , really(??
+Scott Ryan Mozert kinda hard to say. There are thrash bands that are still true to their roots. I'd say aging + greed.
+Scott Ryan Mozert Cliff died ;-;
\m/
+Scott Ryan Mozert The same thing that happened to me...I can't bang my head like I used to when I was 17.Now am 32.
I am thirteen and I LOVE Metallica even now. Metallica is Literally my favorite band ever.🤟
Respect u for that..give megadeth a try too! Listen to the conjuring , hangar 18 and tornado of souls..then u can slowly discover more🤘
My first day as a freshman starts in an hour and I've been up all night listening to Metallica lol fuck me right?
Good luck brotha! some aspects of Highschool can blow pretty hard but make the best of it and leave with some good memories. Be warned it goes fast and things don't always get alot better once you graduate lol. Don't let fuckheads get to you and don't be afraid to be yourself
I just graduated college and ima just tell you to enjoy high school because college is the true bitch lol
the true bitch doesn't come out until you're 33 and married to her. On a good note, my 6 yr old daughter is head banging to this with me now lol
1995, I showed up on my first day of high school with a mohawk, jean jacket, White Zombie shirt, and combat boots. The stuff of legends...This was when Astro Creep 2000 was just out. I brought metal to those losers.
How you doing these days man?
love this song, one of Metallica's underrated songs of their career IMO
Doobie1975 same!
Never noticed that before
Check out a ballad version of the song ua-cam.com/video/YxyqOE-sukk/v-deo.html
I got a headache after headbanging the first minute
TOTALLY WORTH IT
Check out a ballad version of the song ua-cam.com/video/YxyqOE-sukk/v-deo.html
I never understood why this song never got more play in their concerts, I mean it isn't very hard, the lyrics are epic as fuck, it's true thrash metal, mosh pits to this song are amazing....why metallica? why?
Probably due to the fact James can't really hit those high screams anymore consistently, I mean he still can on a one nighter and in isolation, but night after night on a 300 show tour would be too much for it.
Besides, its a Mustaine song, and Metallica has never been big on playing his stuff live. I mean they play the four Horseman every now and then. But the songs changed so much its not really Mechanix anymore with the middle semi clean parts Horseman has.
But yeah, I'd like to hear Metal Militia more live, great song, good energy. Would make an amazing opener.
***** Dave Mustaine was not featured on any Metallica studio album. He was kicked out of the band before Kill Em All was even recorded. He has writing credits for the song, but that's it.
***** Dave was on the demos and live bootleg but not this album. James did a very good job of duplicating Dave's riff here
they played it recently Live AND James hit those high notes with ease
Actually this riff is pretty hard to play fast. Just look up any cover and no one plays it right. Even James has trouble sometimes
3:11. We miss you Cliff.
Cliff will always be missed
That part at 3:11 is one of the most ridiculous bass parts ever played. Super fast gallops with the eighth note one the octave. It's absurd.
Cliff Burton greatest bass player ever period
+Gregory Davis Yup!
Lemmy up there with him
Their best song on their best album and my favorite album.
Phantom Lord is really good too.
Not a bad song on the album, to be fair!
Their first three albums were solid top to bottom; KEA and Lightning are my favorites.
Nice to see the love for Phantom Lord. One of Metallica's best songs imo
This is purest thrash metal song ever
This was the first Metallica track I ever listened to back in 1983. It was on the end of a compilation tape sent to me by a friend in the U.S. What a moment :) I'll never forget.
That tape wouldn't have been called "Hell on Earth" would it? lol this song was the last track on that compilation tape too, and was also the first time I ever heard Metallica.
If I had to fight zombies I would do it to this song
best Metallica song ever written
Listened to this while skating...holy shit
Jimmy Russels I skate faster than a plane with this on
Yup
Hopefully skating with a stick hitting a puck! 🤘
Holy wars
I listen to this song everyday before work to get pumped up
Most of their first couple albums are great on a workout playlist.
When Metallica were fucking brutal. I remember seeing them on this tour. I was in the mosh pit off my face on speed going absolutely fucking mental.
Ohh, through the meat and the sausage, we are trying to get the breakfast to you.
Bacon militia
I don't know why but I laughed myself silly at this comment. You're the Bacon God, not the Bacon Man.
Bacon Man God damn it.
Bacon Man I see you everywhere. Thank you.
Bacon Man Wow. You're here too??? I love bacon!!!!
holy fucking shit bro, how awesome are you?
Make Metallica Great Again
i know it's too late but that comment is fucking good haha
If only Cliff Burton never died, and FUCK YOU NOTHING ELSE MATTERS AND ST ANGER
+We are the Borg well they kinda went back to their thrash roots with death magnetic cause that was just your life is great and judas kiss. It shows they can but they won't want to anymore.
Make Metallica Dave* Again
Hardwired did just that! 😂
Kill Em All is my favorite Metallica album
Dave Mustaine the god-father of thrash
WHOOA
T H R O U G H
THE
MIST
AND THE
MAYONNAISE!!!‼️❗🤘🏾
This sounds most Mustaine from Kill 'Em All.
Jump in the Fire begs to differ.
Who cares!
No, just a little bit. James Kirk Lars & Cliff followed their own path
I was thinking Phantom Lord for its punk sound.
@@mikegoodlock7821 hmm, everybody who is interested in metal...
One of my favorite metallica songs!!!!
Mustaine works
This, 'jump in the fire', and 'seek and destroy' were the first Metallica songs I learned to play.
This was in the 90's, of course... Haven't rehearsed that material in awhile, moved on to my own...
Guitar, of course!
I started out playing rhythm and more bottom-end riffs. Mostly punk and metal. I'm just now learning all the fancy lead stuff, including sweep picking and two-handed taps.
Best Metallica album ever
My favorite song from Metallica 👌
Ah the days when Metallica were awesome and pounding out top notch thrash like this underrated gem.
Metallica's new stuff is actually pretty good, sure James voice ain't as good as it used to be, but Hardwired and Death Magnetic are good albums, you should give them a listen
If you don't progress with the times over the decades you're not going to get more generations to listen to your music. That is sustainability. Old stuff is great new stuff can become great
@@grandwaha Who cares about sustainability or changing with the times? That's just an excuse to not be individualistic-whether its 1983, 1993, 2003 or 2020. Just an opinion, though, people can think what they want.
@@billyfoster3223 Lol you want Metallica to sound exactly the same for the rest of its career. Metallica changed their sound and look what happened, they became one of the biggest metal bands that they are right now and they're still going strong even up to this day. The Black Album even served as a gateway for beginner metalheads to get into the band and I have to admit, Enter Sandman is what got me into Metallica in the first place. Sustainability is important so that the band can still go strong for decades. Besides, Metallica won't be as big as it is today if it didn't change its sound. At least they didn't go straight to Pop like Bring Me the Horizon and Panic at the Disco.
@@billyfoster3223 Self-proclaimed Metallica fans think that being a Metallica fan means listening only to the first three to four albums and treating the rest as garbage. Such close-minded elitists. At least I know how to appreciate old school Metallica and new school Metallica. Metal isn't always about speed.
First Metallica song I ever heard 😎🤘
I told you not to play my stuff…just kidding
Great song! My favorite Metallica song. Probably the best song on the Kill Em All album as well.
A lady, I knew, thought James said, "Home of the Baltor!" Instead of " For whom the bell tolls." We never corrected her...
My names Bill and my brother is Brian. I used to sing for Peace Sells back in the day... He's Bill, but who's Brian. Listen. It fits. :P
Not metal, but a guy at my school used to sing "I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot mah destiny!" still makes me laugh to this day
Nice.
The verse riff is one of the more exotic riffs i ever learned on guitar.
Exactly what I was thinking lol
Favorite song of the album
2:43 Metal militiuughhaAAHH!!
Loooool
@@pegasz YOOO ITS ME OSWALD FROM THE METAL ONSLAUGHT DISCORD
@@itscorvid358 OMG WHAT!!! HOW THE FUCK DID YOU FIND ME
Dave Mustaine did a good job writing this song
The modern generation can't handle cool music like this😊
This song kicks ass!
Can I just remind you all that this album was made with the creative minds of James, Dave, and Cliff together.....and Lars was there too.
love this fucking song!!
Speed Metal forever!
A phenomenal angry heavy rock song. There's a huge amount of electricity in the song. Full respect to the band. This song could be called an explosion.
in my opinion, this is their best album ever. i love every song on it. not saying the next few after this one were bad just i dont think they were as good
Album mostruoso, lo amo.
Best song by Metallica
You are right
Best song off of Kill 'Em All - turning the speed up to 100mph
Now THIS is METALLICA
Love the raw sound of it
I wish I was alive when metallica was young so I could see just how much they killed it! Nuts! People must have just been going fucking so crazy hype over them!!!!!
literally the first song that introduce me to thrash metal, and the very first song i heard from metallica more than 19 years ago
If this is your favorite mettalica song I respect you
This whole album is awesome; same with Lightning.
But yeah, this song is my favorite.
Favorite song off Kill 'em All.
Wish these guys never got terrible this shit rocks.
Metal Melissa
Mene Vankilaan King Diamond would be proud
Thanks, now i sing this to every Melissa i see.
THEY ARE THE BEST !!!
change world of music
-comes to a metallica song
-alot of comments about Dave Mustain and megadeth
What did you expect? He was quite a few rungs in their ladder to success.
this is a Mustaine song, not a metallica song
Draden Merenox Co-wrote. Metallica performed it and helped write it. Cry about it.
Well dave wrote the song
Dave actually wrote this song note to note
My favorite song from this album
I LOVE HEAVY METAL
Amazing , I love Metallica 😍😍😍
Still a classic 30 years later.
"Best sound quality I have ever heard!"
Absolutely classic!!!!
I give most of the credit of this song to Dave Mustaine to be honest
And you are correct!
Really? In regards to Metallica, the credit likely belongs to Kirk Hammett. In regards to where he came up with it, that credit belongs to ... Hmmm...let's see how well your Metalli-history is...can you guess?
* Correction *
I meant, in regards to * what became of it, that credit belongs to... * (so much for typing and thinking two different things)...
Back during the change between Dave and Kirk, Kirk took riffs from Exodus (from the song "Impaler" to Metallica's "Trapped Under Ice"). Looks like Exodus got back at that with riffs from Metallica's "Metal Militia"...almost identical to Exodus's "Bonded by Blood".
Fuck Mustaine!!! The comment section is always full of megaydeth fanboys
For me it comes down to this song and "Phantom Lord" for their best songs.
But this was their best album. No brained for me.
33 people didn't like Dave Mustaine's dog.
You,sir,made my day
Please explain
@@ericolsen5592 there was an incident that happened when dave mustaine brought his dog over which started scratching the paint off ron mcgovneys car. james hetfield was so pissed and he kicked the dog, which dave mustaine wasn't too happy about. they got into a huge argument and dave ended up punching james.
@@newcoolwhat Probably one of the reasons why Dave got kicked out of Metallica
LMAO!
If I could go back in time to when I first heard this, and play "Whiskey in a Jar" to my young self, my young self would kick my ass for lying and saying it was Metallica.
***** but that song is a thin lizzy cover
***** Exactly
lmao
That riff and attack in the beginning!! My aunt and uncle had this cassette also the single!! Just onslaught of total baddassery!
i wish bass was loud on ride and master albums as on kill em all....i can hear it well in call of ktulu and fwtbt intro(tho it still could be a tad bit louder) but on other songs he is way too deep...kill em all is perfect
I think you can't hear it in those albums because Cliff put more distortion on, so it got buried underneath the guitar track
Mike Hunt I can hear bass on Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets on my speakers.
Still not as bad as what they did to poor Jason on And Justice.
Marijan Barać Bass is loud enough Ride. You just need to listen carefully.
Much better than the Sandman era.
How can this be the same band? This is the Metallica I grew up with.
So you want Metallica to sound the same? Jeez at least you're not the one telling them what kind of albums they should make. They can make whatever the fuck they want (as long as it's not Pop music)!
I can't believe Metallica's still makein albums! Wish they'd have uh nother concert sometime! Rock on:
love this song. :)
My one goal on guitar is to play this song or Master Of Puppets.
METAL MILITIA!!!
My fav on fav album
God them young hungry and drugged up to the eyeballs made the best album, just hard fast heavy and full of shredding
AWESOME TUNE KERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRANNNNNGGGG !!!

So tired of hearing about DM shut up!!
@@paolotorres7730 No it's not....Dave wrote this song. Sorry to burst your bubble

Intro guitar tone (james) changes from brighter to darker and fatter after the first drum punches!!! Metali-trivia i just noticed this!!! Booyah!

Favorite Metallica song off all time, off my favorite record. Unfortunately, due to my being a teen in the current time period, missed out on listening to the good music when it came out and got stuck with new shit. Would have loved to see them live back then.
Best song on best album

So fast and head-banging!
The best song!
Bass line from Cliff really awesome!
Epic quality
I have a bootleg of Metallica with Mustaine playing this song way back in the day. When I find it I'll upload.
