DAY 3: White Domes to Water Canyon Arch | Zion to Green River Hike VLOG

- Day Three of the daily VLOG of my backpacking trek from Zion National Park to Green River, Utah. Camped near the White Domes to enjoy the amazing slickrock again in the morning light. Later I continued east and even made a side excursion to the impressive Water Canyon Arch*. From there I made my way around Squirrel Canyon and finally connected with an old road into Broad Valley to camp.
Water Canyon Arch Safety
The arch is amazing, and it's possible to walk out on the arch -- but one must remember it is surrounded by sheer cliffs over 1000' above the canyon floor. My "invisible selfie stick" wide-angle camera actually makes the walk look worse than it really is, BUT... it's still NOT a place to be too casual or at all careless. It may not be apparent in the video, but I was extremely focused and careful. I trust my years of experience walking on sandstone like this. The first part of the arch is actually quite wide and level, but after 20' or so it begins to narrow and becomes more precarious. It is possible to continue past the wide section, but I didn't feel comfortable doing so. Do not attempt if you have any doubt! For reference... I've seen video of people with dogs running across this arch (not advised IMHO!)
I hope you enjoy this vlog-style experiment with daily videos to re-live my big hike from earlier this year. Some days will be short, some will be long -- but each will represent one day of hiking and hopefully include something new and fun to watch!
Thanks for watching!
