Fashion fades, STYLE is eternal. If you truly have style you’ll be able to evolve gracefully no matter how the times and fashion change. Biggest style tip: find silhouettes and colors that work for you but don’t be afraid to experiment and push past your own personal insecurities you never know what you’ll find…
I love his clothes and buy them on sale , add a piece or 2 a year for the last 8 years , everything works together , still looks in style because his basics don't really change and I still feel comfortable and confident in them in my 50's . I am going to wear this shit out of it !
Bliss you're such a great fashion journalist and commentator. Throwing in your own witty analysis whilst really focusing on the topic in a way nobody else on youtube does as good as you. You're a gem in the fashion world
I wear Yohji Yamamoto. I have to say the time to wear a full hakama (looks like a long skirt) was a process. That said, I still recommend to all to be daring.
I recently started wearing more daring pieces like this and it really feels good to be wearing what you like, so I hope no one gets discouraged by this anxiety
Rick is one of those designer that think out of the circle. He know what future is going to be - modern, stereotype free, a little bit dark, and pleasant at the same time. His clothing is so intense, its hard to undestand references, but personally I usually rate fashion through my personal feelings and I try to think "what this could possible mean in these days situation and culture". In my opion Rick has this vision for the whole world, as I mentioned before, modernism and stereotype free culture could lead mens fashion to whole another level, thats why Ricks men's heels became so hyped between specific groups of people who definitely understands this whole idea of Ricks creation
I’m not sure how long you’ve been independent now, but I’ve been going through some of your old videos and I know you’ve been trying to make this a full time gig for a while. I’m glad to hear you’ve you’ve been able to do it, Congrats !
ive never had as many people come up to me, ask me or complement me as when im wearing ricks clothes, ESPECIALLY when ive got the kiss heels on, its funny to see so many older men give me complements since it made them remember seeing just as crazy shoes on their idols as kids, like Kiss, bowey etc
This was exactly what I was looking for. Great content and feel like I found someone that speaks my language. Especially that feeling when you go to an event or gathering wearing something avantgarde for the first time and know you will get looks.
I love it when you cover Rick. I will never forget about the quote that working out = modern couture and it is my sort of guide because honestly the man is 58 but look at him. I find it inspiring how he underlines the importance of having a great bod and healthy lifestyle. People may say it’s vanity but oh well his Rick statues do look f*ckinggood haha
As someone who's completely into alternative fashion, it's really refreshing to see nuanced critical perspectives of big names. I particularly admire how you highlight the transience inherent in designers; I feel that all too often, it's easy to put precedence on the continuity of the brand name rather than the maturation and change of the individual designer. It's all too easy to reduce a designer to tropes and lists, but you really pull the person back out of the image.
I liked the 'rule' about accessories. After looking at what accessories Rick has on offer, I agree with you that his items fit in the Rickverse and I think that the 'rule' still stands true. Often adding jewelry and accessories to an outfit can weigh it down and be downright uncomfortable for the sake of aesthetic. Personally, I don't wear rings because they make me feel restricted in activities like handwashing and eating. So, when Rick says being free is better, I agree. I would rather be able to use my hands without restriction rather than wear rings for the aesthetic. Fashion is about the wearer, but I feel that for some people, fashion is for the clothes rather than the person. I want my clothes to reflect me, rather than I reflect my clothes. Awesome video!
I hardcore agree about rings, though I extend it to bracelets too (though I would like to get a watch sometime). I'm a violinist, and it is so impractical to have to remove all jewelry from my hands every time I need to go play, and you have to be practical about your style choices in the context of your daily life activities
I Love RO esthetic but I personally wouldn’t wear it - as far as his own personal style is concerned, I would love to see him with his natural hair - that ultra straightened hair looks so weak and flimsy compared to his muscular, angular face and body. It’s the only imbalance in his otherwise sculpted impeccable appearance- just my two cents worth!
Great video as always. I always liked Rick and have been a fan for a long time, specially since ive always belonged to the underground techno scene, no matter where i travelled, I always at least for one night went dancing to the cool techno club of said city and I swear Rick Owens was like the official uniform for those places. I remember when Kanye did the Yeezus tour and he did his line of clothes and plp were like "ooh cool style" I was like "but thats how everyone dresses in techno clubs....." and I know he was influenced by Rick and also by Martin (who designed the wardrobe and mask for that tour) and Helmut Lang , but I guess its not that talked about it. Anyways great video Bliss. Keep em comin'

I have a real question: why is there still such a gap between men's and women's fashion? What is going on that men's fashion is still mostly confined to pants and flat shoes and shirts, with an occasional skirt or cape? Is this view even correct? Or am I blind to a huge change going on? I would LOVE a video about this from you, I just don't understand what's going on. All I can find about this topic (after a really brief search) on youtube is either garbage or Karolina Żebrowska elegantly proving that men's western fashion these days was not always this toned down and constricted.
Like: why is there not a movement to normalize long dresses for men, as there was for women wearing suits? Obviously there'd somehow have to be a sort of re-definition of what dresses are, and how they can accentuate the typical male physique, and I bet there are a ton of people that do that already. But like...historicaly it has been done this whole time, right? The concepts are already there. It's not even a question of looking back, it's just a question of looking around to other cultures and clothing traditions that are still practiced. So I just don't understand the hesitancy with which this all goes down, ye know?
Men are not nearly as used to allowing themselves to be comfortable and vulnerable, this often means they won't go out of they're comfort zone, so don't want to have to face the chance that they will be mocked for wearing clothes like that. I think it's slowing coming around though.
I am just strolling through thumbnails. I have no idea who Rick Owens is. What show he is on or however he got famous but dude looks creepy. Definitely plays the creepy dude in horror films , I'm guessing.
