My doctor prescribed watching Martin's cabin video's along with Losartan, Atorvastatin, Clopidegrel, Amlodipine and Metformin along with 5,000 IU of Vitamin D, weekly, and 16 ounces of sugar free Metamucil, daily. He said that adding Martin's cabin video's would be alright in addition to the prescribed medications but not in lieu of.
Through the years I am getting to camp more and more. I am 39 years old. I miss camp everyday that I am not there and your videos keep me sane. People have some sort of issue with being alone, and don't understand the draw that is the "camp" lifestyle. My camp is much different than yours (there should be a video on my channel of the camp), but the solitude of it all is exactly the same. I have watched this video probably 4 or 5 times as with all of them. I enjoy them every single time and notice something I didn't that last time I watched. Thanks Martin. Here's to so many more years of you enjoying that cabin and land.
It is funny how we change as we mature. As a young man I liked the California beaches and the night life of Las Vegas. Now I would swap the whole Vegas strip for one plate of that fried walleye, eaten in the peace and beauty of your cabin. I guess in one lifetime, there is room for everything.
Really Enjoy watching your videos ..relaxing & educational .learned more bout camping & wilderness of them than you'll ever beleive..and how to hide food ..thanks Martin .
love watching the snow fall. Doesn't happen too often where I live. Wow my mom had a coffee pot just like the one you have, just jogged my memory from a long time ago.
Good mornin Martin, I forgot about using Ritz crackers for breading fish, I know that fish was delish and a nice treat. Always nice sitting back and having my morning coffee with ya. See you next time and you take care!
Reminds me of rainy days at my Grandma's in Puget Sound. It was a lovely small old house and we slept in the attic - on a wet day we could read Tarzan and Zane Gray books all day while Grandma made cookies and the cookie smell would come up the stairs and mix with the smell of the unpainted attic wood. I was mighty hungry when I saw that magnificent meal!!!
Lol Zane Grey! I lived in Seattle in the 70's in my Grandfather's house. He had the entire collection. I read every book and a few more max brand and a few others. Wonderful books as a kid.
The crazy world we live in today, (think liberals) really makes me miss the good old days. Life was soooo much better in the days when I was growing up. None of the craziness that's so prevalent in today's society. I almost can't stand watching the news anymore.
I enjoyed the rainy day break along with you! I agree, read a bit, take a snooze in my recliner, wake up and read a bit more - a perfect rainy day afternoon activity. Unfortunately, my wife doesn't always agree with my plans, but such is married life of half a century. Guess I'll keep the old gal! Those walleye fillets sure looked good, I could almost smell the aroma, along with hearing the sizzle of frying. Thanks for sharing the day with us! Stay safe - - - An Armchair Adventurer
Sometimes those rainy days are just meant to kickback an relax. When I was young rain water was our only source for water except a spring way over the hill but my dad fixed a charcoal filter system that filter all of our rain water Thanks for sharing another great video
I like your rain catcher. In Bermuda, where there is no fresh water source apparently, all of the houses have grooved limestone roofs that catch rainwater from passing storms. Very clever system.
I have a set of pots and pans just like yours Martin. They were given to my mom and dad on their wedding day and they're still in use. We even have the coffee pot too. I love Revere Ware.
Relaxing to the max to watch your videos. I was delighted to see a fresh video from today! The scenery at the cabin is relaxing and peaceful. Thank you for sharing your times at the cabin!!
Glad to see you kinda rest for the day. You are so ingenious. I love the way you take care of our feathered friends. Hauling up gravel that they like is a very dedicated friend. Love your videos!!!
God bless you Martin, you are an inspiration for living a Christian life and sharing your faith and one of your cherished places that God has given you to enjoy all of his wonders. May you be blessed with many more great times at the cabin. Keep sharing gods love!! Blessings to you brother.
Your videos are like coming home and the peace that brings. Glad to hear you had a friend visit, nothing like a friend visiting to bring your spirit up and increase the appreciation of nature. Thank you for sharing.
Martin I love these laid back videos. I enjoy seeing the minutia of how things go at the cabin. Finally camping myself next weekend after Thanksgiving. First time in a year, looking forward to it.
Peaceful and relaxing. 5 minutes reading on the sleeping bag and I would be sleeping. Them walleye fillets looked yummy. Very nice spruce grouse. Keep on keeping on and Best of luck always and thanks for sharing your videos.
It could have been a Bible. Happy to see someone reading it. "Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand"(Revelation 1:3).
Looks like it was a pretty good day at the cabin. Sometimes we just need to have a relaxing day resting. What could be better..... a rocking chair, the good book, coffee, birdwatching, a nap and a great meal. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family Martin.
thank you Martin, new subscriber here. took me back to earlier years frying up walleye and jumbo yellow perch. back in 1958- 1964 on Lake Erie near Ashtabula and Conneaut Ohio.
Thank you Martin, nice video . It was great to see the spruce grouse so close to the cabin. A wise decision on that day to keep warm and dry for sure. Pleased to hear that you had a visitor I guess it helps to see someone up there now and then. Love theses videos s much.
that fish, beans and mashed potatoes looked mighty tasty. Looking around on your stove/kitchen. mine looks almost the same as far as pots, pans and staples. First time here. I'll be back . you take care. we are about the same age i guess. i'm 76 and love my outdoor lifestyle . winter has hit now and i'm home by the wood stove. Snowed 3" today. got about 4 cords of wood and it's covered. I'll just kick back till spring then head back to the woods. Had to plow out today all part of the program. Idaho up near canada. 11-10-20.
Due to popular demand, here is the cherry pie recipe: You can make one regular pie or for Mart, I make about 8-10 hand pies....easy to carry on the go as you've seen!!! Also buy the sour or pie cherries in the freezer section with the frozen fruit. 3 or 4 c. cherries (thaw), 1-1 1/2 c. sugar (can use splenda or mix 1/2), 1/4 c. flour. Mix together and coat cherries. I don't utilize all the sugar mixture, too sweet for me. so I shake off the extra. Use store bought pie dough (LOL I just realized what I said, shows my age) or make your own pastry. But here is my mom's recipe: 2 c flour, 1/2 c oil, almost 1/2 c milk. Mix liquids in separate bowl first. Add to flour. I roll out a ball of the dough into a circle (about 1/2 c???), add cherries, fold and crimp to seal. Vent the top and sprinkle on a little sugar!!! Easy peasy. In fact I just made a batch for deer season. When I make hand pies, you need to double dough mixture. Disclaimer: highly addictive

If you ever face the problem of too much food, I am your man! God bless you Martin! Missing your videos!
We have to wait for my return from a spring trip for more.

Like seeing you cook. Lots of rain that day. Good day to stay inside. 😃 Thx
Just do not tell my wife that I can cook, what happens at the cabin stays at the cabin. LOL
That coffee pot is a treasure and hard to come by.
Good mornin Martin, I forgot about using Ritz crackers for breading fish, I know that fish was delish and a nice treat. Always nice sitting back and having my morning coffee with ya. See you next time and you take care!
Another little chapter of a day in the life of the Northwoodsman, always interesting and informative, thanks
My goal is to capture the true essence of times at the cabin. Thanks for the note.
Thanks for the subtle reminder to rest and spend time in God's word... always a joy to watch your videos!
I respect people that do this get a dog your life will be much better the best friend you willl ever have bless you
We just lost a little dog we had joint custody of and it was heart wrenching. My wife says no more pets until we are sure to out live THEM!
Rain on the tin roof, warm fire, great dinner and a good book. Is this Heaven?
No but you can see it from here.

Glad you could sit with me that day. A special meal really puts a good end to a day of relaxing.
Sometimes those rainy days are just meant to kickback an relax.

Yes and so simple.
I could spend the rest of my life in your cabin martin....you are one lucky man!!
It sure would be nice to have a place like that to get away to every now and then. A place to go and enjoy nature like you do.
ecleveland1, heck, it would be a great place to live full time.
ecleveland1 take a tent and gooooooooo. Lol life's too short
It is such a great place to get away and still have a warm stove and good roof.
You show a gentle and at one with nature attitude. Thank you

Lovely rainy day!
You definitely captured the weather for us .🥶

Those coffee pots are hard to find.
We have one. I used it after you told me about using a paper basket filter. I tried it and it worked. Thanks Martin 👍

It’s all about solitude ! Your friend in the backwoods of Kentucky
It is a nice thing to experience.
Cold weather wet weather gear would allow you to get your tasks done. Buy some.😉👍
Great video again!

Hello from Ohio I like the great outdoors in the wood forest.
Glad you are following along
Keeping posting the great videos! I have enjoyed all of them !
Your videos are like coming home and the peace that brings. Glad to hear you had a friend visit, nothing like a friend visiting to bring your spirit up and increase the appreciation of nature. Thank you for sharing.
A great sight seeing smoke rising out of that stack knowing you have a cozy cabin to retreat to
The smoke adds so much character that I sometimes throw leaves in for a better plume.
@@TheNorthwoodsman1 that's a good idea
Martin I love these laid back videos. I enjoy seeing the minutia of how things go at the cabin. Finally camping myself next weekend after Thanksgiving. First time in a year, looking forward to it.

So glad you share this with us. I can’t wait until my snowmobile is fixed so I can get out as well. 12km hike to my getaway.
Enjoy, you know how great it is out there.
Really neat place 👌
It really is!
Cozy place indeed.
Reminds of Dick Pronneke from Alaska. Was a PBS special lived in Alaska wilderness like 40 years.
I hear that comparison quite a bit, but 40 years straight I could not do.
Snow, the cabin looks do good! Another great video!
Not a bad way to spend the day. Thanks for sharing.
