I think the black ops 1 version is a bit more interesting because of PHD
PhD only worked for so long though. In the 50s, its a useless perk, because the splash damage weapons don't kill anymore.
PhD was never my go-to perk. Never understood what the fuss is all about.
@@Pahheb yeah it was a good perk I didn't say otherwise, but a good player wouldn't need a perk to help him not blow himself up or fall to his death. And like the person above me said, PhD can only help you for so long, it's useless on high rounds.
Jack Dren it is used on call of the dead high rounds to try and get a max for your wunderwaffe.

@@whatyouseewhatyouget3021 no, ascension definitely didnt fail, it is one of the most successful maps in the cod zombies history, if you really dont like the monkeys then dont buy a million perks, and your reply doesnt make sense, if its online it would be much easier to get rid of the space monkeys.
Ascension taught people how to train. This map was so fun before because you could play it with any amount of players and it had the most variety in train spots
Kino taught players to train.
zBreezy Shi No Numa was actually the map that invented training zombies but this map was also very ideal for training 🔥
Pond/Tame 😂 yep shi no Nima was my first round 100.......then I did shadows of evil round 100 and now I never want to do it again.
There are lik 5 total camping spots in that map in general so yeah u right

Ascension is very well rounded. It's a slight challenge on solo (BO1) but an easy fun time with friends. Great map and love the Russian theme of it.

You mentioned you like the real-life history aspect, if you didn't know the Baikonur Cosmodrome is real, and not only the world's first and largest spaceport, but one of the most historically significant too.

@@jake_shakles3243 yeah, I've had it on ascension, moon and Shi no numa. It's so annoying and the only way of fixing it is by reinstalling the whole game and all the map packs

This map is my favorite map ever. Playing with 3-4 people on this map was really fun. Everyone had a spot to train the zombies. My favorite was in the spawn room. Never played the B03 version. I have probably over a thousand hours on this map
Try the bo3 version .. it’s just as good as the original if not better
Ascension still sticks with me to this day because how much it terrified me as a kid, yet it's still my favorite map of all time. I love the challenge, especially with the monkeys, I love the map layout and the atmosphere it provides once you first spawn in.

I love the feeling when you just shit on George with the Dragunov it made the Snipers useful for something lmao. And getting 8 perks felt earned I agree with you 100%
They were the best. Shangri La is just too small and sucky to be fun and Moon is way too gimmicky.
Ah ascension, my favorite black ops 1 map in zombies. It has such a good feeling, brought gersh devices, along with stamin up and phd flopper. It also has 3-4 good training spots. What a map. The only negative thing about this map is the monkeys, which are so overpowered (2 shots with the thunder gun, come on. A little too much.)
When I revived my friend, he still thought he was down and he got all confused because of the black and white colors 😂
I had bo1 but I never played this map. I got zombies Chronicles and played it and now it's one of map favorite maps all time! I wish I could go back in time XD

Ascension is to this day my favorite all time map. So much innovation and playability. They just don’t make them like they used to.
I wish 3arc would bring back the traditional PaP camo and sickle. We miss the classic easter egg songs with Elena. Great vid as always man.
Can we all just take a second to appreciate the fact that he is playing Abracadavre, the map's EE song, in the background. Small things like this that really add to the top notch videos Tim makes :)

When I got to 55 on the original black ops 1 version it took me and my friend 4 hours straight.
Granted the rounds we held out on completing because we wanted to wait for an ammo drop
Phd flopper was a god tier perk. If u had a mustang and sally and just got revived u could just go for phd first and get the other perks later.

Hey man just wanted to say thank you for these vids. Currently watching your map analysis series and im being overwhelmed by nostalgia. I honestly gave up after bl2 because of the whole lovecraftian tentacle thing and I miss when zombies was just survive with friends but im really happy to see that still in 2019 people still remember Ascension. It's my all time favorite map and I'll always remember befriending randoms and playing for years after until eventually I stopped talking to them but I still play zombies solo and I will never forget 11 year old me getting microsoft points at the grocery store to play new maps every few months.
As a German scientist said about the thunder gun: if I had made this,I would have mad it suck! Not blow!

It's one of my favorites, if not the favorite map. It's so fun playing in this. Also the perk where if you dive into the ground, it would create an explosion. That perk was kind of cool.

I just bought black ops again and revived my old Xbox account with all map packs just to experience this with my son.
Ascension was the best map, followed by a two way tie with kino and Der Riese.
Ascension was my first zombies map ever so I have a lot of nostalgia for it. Because of Ascension I actually thought that ALL zombies maps were black and white before you turned power on for a while lol. My brother, cousins, and I spent so much freaking time on that map, barely getting to round 5 or 6 for the longest time.

The EE song is one of my favorites of all of zombies. It's epic but also dreading, like you are having a last stand.
I was today years old when i found out that doubletap was never featured on ascension as a machine...... i now question all my memories from playing bo1
And too mention the Zombies had some dope ass models and designs ESPECIALLY in the Chronicles version
This map was so hype back then when it dropped, maybe the most hyped map ever made. Back then the new edition of the gersh device and the Easter eggs really changed the game for zombies. Black ops 1 zombies will always be the greatest zombies for me.
I’ve always loved this map and felt like my friends really underrate it, thank you for the video Tim, it brings back memories 🙂

The night this came out me and my friend got to round 87 and were number 1 and 2 on leaderboard for like an hour haha.

Black Ops 1 Ascension will be forever my favorite. Had the best song, Best Perk (Besides Juggernaug,) Best wonder weapon, and I had the best moments with friends there (Also besides WAW Der Riese.)

This was the newest map to me last year. I didn't know Ascension even existed until 2020! I just knew about Kino, Shang, Call of The Dead, and Moon!

All I’m saying is I will never forget the first time I played this map and the space monkeys came. You can’t imagine my face when I saw my quick revive go away😂 good times
I rather liked the map quite a bit on release. I can remember my roommate and I were there since WaW and loved finding and posting easter eggs back when. I had a bit of a knack for finding the music easter eggs and I can remember playing with two new players on release night, oh man, the moment the music played and the first monkey round came about, it was all a lovely high panic game with a final round of 47 for us. Only thing that sucked was how the monkey rounds actually worked in terms of the perk stealing. Best part was the Flopper. Me and my roomie got good with it and would end up belly flopping zombies to death in earlier rounds.
Loved the Easter egg song, this map was fun and just so simple to just to kill time.
I love this map so much it was the only map I would play with my aunt every weekend trying to get high rounds and spending hours it gives me so many good memories
so funny when four people were guarding 4 set perks and you didn’t get the free perk and everyone shouts in chat “WHO LET THEM TOUCH”

Best Easter Egg song absolutely fucking beautiful with its atmosphere this was my first map in zombies I was so happy that it was remastered in black ops 3 My favorite maps will always be Ascension, Five, Shi no Numa, Mob of the Dead,Call of The Dead,Moon and Gorad Krovi

Ascension with PHD was the best. It was the new Kino in my opinion with the ample training space and landers. Also, I held a grudge for zombies maps wthout PHD. The wwhole excuse that it was too OP was mega bs. BO2/3, tho good, had some mega overpowered perks. Going down wasnt even a punishment anymore because you could come back with all your guns and perks.
First of all Ascension is a top 10 map because it got selected by the community to be put in Chronicals dlc.
mickaleb campbell I doubt that because chronicles was a recap of the ultimis/primis storyline with the exception COTD for bo3. Also the community seems to have a general distaste of shangri la so it really wasn’t a community based decision.

Easily in my top 5. I'm one of the original zombie players that prefers WaW and BO1 zombies. I love playing MOB, Der Eisendrache and Origins, but they can take so long to set up. Kino, the Giant ( Der Riese) and Ascension we're all fun maps that didn't take forever to get all your guns and perks and they were just a blast.
