- Today my listeners share their favorite holiday memories made with their deceased loved ones. The holidays we share together are so powerful and special, that they become versions of our heaven when we die.
The holidays are our 'heaven on earth' moments, that we want to relive on the Otherside. The dead talk about the holidays, the laughter shared, the food savored, the decorations hung, even the libations, all things that color our lives.
If you want to honor your loved ones after they die, make their favorite dish and share it with your family, hand down their traditions, hang an ornament for them, share pictures of past generations with the new generations. Keep them alive during the holidays, they love to be included!
My Grandmother wanted to make it to the year 2000, she passed quietly on Jan 3rd, 2000. I live in California and returned to Iowa for the funeral. When I came back to CA, my partner and I went to Palm Springs for the weekend. On Sat night we went out for drinks and dancing which was something my Grandmother Loved to do but was denided to her most of her life. She was a true Party Animal and loved to have a great time. Anyway, while my partner and I were dancing I could feel my Grandmother come right inbetween us and was dancing with us. My partner and I were amazed and talked about it the rest of the night. Its such a meaningful memory for me as I was denied being able to express who I was completly to her. She understood me the most and loved me dearly. She is my true Champion on the other side and is with me to this day.
My grandma passed on Thanksgiving 2016 at the age of 92. While it was a very big loss for me; I had to laugh & tease her by saying "Of course you would pick Thanksgiving. You want us all to be grateful for you". She was one of my best friends & confidant.
She reminds of Queen Elizabeth too, very poised with class, grace & style. They were close in age, so through the decades if you notice the queens clothing style its exactly my grandmother's wardrobe.
I get my manners & my willingness to help anyone in need from my grandma. She had a very charitable heart 🥰
Finally! I get to see the Joe, only maybe losely portrayed in the excellent show, “The Medium”! I have a lot of respect for both you. Both levelheaded and I love how soft spoken and gentle he seems!
I as well loved ur show the “Medium” the actors a perfect fit 😃
My favorite memories are the advent wreath we used to make. Dad would take us out in the woods to gather princess of pine to weave in the fetal frame and Mom would put 3 purple and one pink and also she always did the advent calendar with us. Although it was made of felt and we used common pins to put the little characters on the tree. Now a days a I get my son a Thomas the Train mini advent calendar and in years past it was the ones with the chocolate. I found the metal frame for the wreath, the candles wrapped in foil and the advent calendar along with ALL my parents Christmas stuff after they passed. He passed in July 2020 and she passed in Feb of 2021. This is the first Christmas without both of them. I have ALL their stuff proudly displayed in my brand new home that I know they were 100% responsible for me finding and it was almost like with their things, they went shopping for us. I didn't have to buy ANYTHING! They had it all. It makes me feel close to them. This morning I got up early to pray and read and I swear they were messing with me. The living room light turned off and on twice. They wanted to let me know they are with me.
Love the family traditions... I made about 130 loaves of banana bread and still have 30 to go. I do this every year. I'm hoping someone takes over my tradition when I pass lol🤣 (probably not)😫

Thanks Alison and hubby! My best Christmas was when I could host 21 of my immediate family, including my grandson Spencer. It has been 4 years since Spencer's passing. I'm.amzed how love transcends. I continue to make snowmen every year, with Spencer with me.
what a beautiful story the mom who raised seven kids and got a baby doll from the window display. Made me tear up.

Best Christmas Memory: I got a job in November and spent my whole first check on gifts. As a single mom, some Christmasses were skinny. It felt good when my two adult boys stayed over night for Christmas. The unwapped fun gifts, gags, games. That was the last Christmas I had with my oldest son. In July he left. Thank god I took lots of picures of our Christmas
As a Christmas Eve born person, two presents means everything! And, never wrap the birthday present in Christmas paper! Merry Christmas and happy New Year to you and your family. I have to make coconut ice and toasted marshmallows - missed one year and there was uproar!

My dad used to always buy a poinsettia for my mum at Christmas so I’m sure he is the one inspiring me to continue the tradition
The Sears Catalog was a real time waster for me. I guess it was our favorite way to pick out our gifts. I would lay under the Christmas tree and pick out gifts. Never got them, but what l got was always fine with me. Happy Holidays to everyone.

😞 so beautiful story about her mom wanting a Shirley Temple doll for christmas.. made me cry. Christmas is about Jesus and not about gifts (some expect expensive ones) but no it’s about jesus. i grew up very poor and it just made be remember.
This was fantastic! Holidays really never gave me fond memories BUT it's about remembering the things that were meaningful. Things throughout the years that truly brought me joy!

I receive all kinds of signs here is my list.Dreams coins white feathers butterflies birds on my windowsill one stayed a week the other was a lost let and came to me when I held out my hand I refuse it and returned it to its owner never met this bird before.Songs smells. Knocks on my door. Cloud formations. I am so Blessed!

Such a lovely podcast I lost my dad 7 years ago we had a difficult relationship and I was there when he died and I couldn't go to the funeral either I have been trying to connect with him on the other side and have been getting signs that he hears me. I am thinking about him a lot this Christmas thank you for the idea of buying them a card I love all the stories I heard and just wanted to offer thanks to Allison as watching you do readings and talking about the other side has helped me immensely with reconciling with my dad and having him in my life in a way that is so special. I have so many positive memories of Christmases with my in-laws from both my marriages, putting up and decorating the Christmas tree, preparing special recipes. meal times, shopping for gifts they would like, etc. I still talk to my 24 year old daughter about her paternal grandma Yoyo, who she lost when she was only 3. My daughter was afraid of Santa coming into their condo, she still remembers that he made an exception and left her gifts outside the condo door that year., This year for the first time I will be cooking a Beef Wellington which is the meal my mother-in-law prepared on her last Christmas in 2000. My father-in-law in the late 80s collated all his favorite recipes from his mother snd aunts into a big black binder. He made a copy for each of his two sons snd his favorite niece which have now been handed down to their children. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

My Grandmother is 107! Her birthday is August 19th. I think she is afraid to die. She thinks we just don’t exist anymore. I lost my Dad last Dec 4th and my oldest Son the 10th of December last year. I miss them both so much. I took care of my Dad as he had cancer. My son was 39 an very unexpected. Christmas is hard. My son has a daughter who is 8 now. My middle son has two daughters and a son that was born in September. I will do it for them.
I love what you do Allison. It's so great to see Joe on the podcast! I want to wish you and your family a very merry Xmas & a Happy New Years! (I'm a capricorn. I never really liked christmas because I never got what I wanted, ever, but maybe it was better that way? Now, we don't celebrate xmas at all. I know a lot of people love to decorate the christmas tree, but I never could get into it at all. I was like, why put the tree up & decorate when you are going to have to take it back down? It never made any sense to me.) However, I do like what christmas represents, baby jesus being born to save us from our sins. My mom & dad did everything to make us happy. My dad worked hard to pay for everything we got. My mom was a wonderful mother to us. All three of us were adopted. My brother, sister & myself. It takes a special person to adopt a child & I know this. I will miss my grandmother & my mom and dad this year.

Glad we got to meet Joe! Allison, you were dead on about a COVID vaccine in 2020. 👍🏼 I know you got some grief on that. Never doubted it. Unfortunately I just can’t do Xmas since my daughter passed. And gosh my grandson just lost his grandpa on his dads side to suicide. Plus he is an RN and works none stop in then COVID ICU. He’s just going to keep working. It helps to take his mind off grief. Same here. I’ll probably just work on Xmas.

My father-in-law rushed to his aunt’s house after her funeral to get her personal recipe book. The joke was on him as she did not use a measuring cup. Revipes referred to the blue cup and the yellow cup, etc. It became a family joke.
Scorpio is all about death 😬 That’s all I think about anymore 😔 I’ve lost everyone that I’ve been close with in my life. I feel so alone. I wish I could learn to live again.
