noooo - I was working in the Seismology and had to calibrate the seismometers at 1 Hz - so if you supposed to made an earthquake must use the same frequency

sir your experiment was very close to reality...
so intially sand is loosely saturated with water and top layer may appear to be completely dry, but as some seismic disturbance arises volume of sand decreases and thus most of the sand settles down making the pour water presssure to break the top layer and liquid comes out of course with some sand particles and due to change in inertia building at rest suddenly sinks down due to lose of shear stregth
