People that don’t know music will not recognize what Mori did here. She goes from one register to another seamlessly you can’t hear the change that’s how good she is. Her vocal agility is the best I have ever heard even Beyoncé does not do it as well as Morissette. Her octave jumps are so clear she is a beast in singing. The original singer of this song sings it in a different key Morissette not only translated the lyrics but changed the musical score. The pace ; key not the same the bridge was stunning the resonance off the charts. The Korean part was so emotional that “ cry” was on purpose. Morissette has said she discovered very early she can use vocal breaks to “ color “ her voice.
SHE WAS SICK AT THAT MOMENT.HER DOCTOR ADVICED HER NOT TO GO.BUT STILL SHE WENT TO KOREA AND STILL SLAYED THE SONG PERFECLY.
And she studied that song 2 weeks before that event tho, and that's freaking amazing!
A lot Korean UA-camr reacts this video of morissette sing in Korea they are all amazed and say thank you.
That voice crack sounds like a phoenix that's why she's called ASIA'S PHOENIX
Phoenix is a mythical bird so I guess all sounds provided for it was just man-made... But you are right, their made up sound really sounds like her squeak... LOL

To your friend Eric, Happy Birthday and i just want to tell him Filipino language and Korean is completely different in terms of Phonemes, Syntax, and Alphabet. That's why Mori said that she's gonna do something she haven't done before and that is singing in hangeul. And another thing is, she was sick during the event that she was even adviced by her voice doctor not to go but she still went. Huge fan of mori here😊

This one and Akin Ka Na Lang is top 2 of my all time fav and Im 50 yrs father of three and heavily inked from the neck down,and yet i admit i cried when i first see n hear her perf this one.

Originally it was all english but when Morisette was on her way to korea for that event she decided to change some parts to korean language. So she just practiced the korean part on the plane and I think she did very well considering how short she practiced those words.
FYI Guys,
Those vocal breaks were natural due to her whistling capability (that's how high her voice is). IRONICALLY, whenever Mori sings with vocal breaks we could say that she's in a good condition but if she doesn't have any vocal breaks in any of her performances that's a sign that she needs rest and she's tired. And in this performance, I could say that she's tired but hell yeah she's still slaying. Thank you😊

I happen too passed by your channel since its Morisette. As I remember, she was sick during that event. She just came back from her successful concert on Dubai ,UAE. Then was adviced by her voice doctor not to go to that song festival but she still went.

Those "cracks" it is called intentional vocal breaks, and from the name itself intentional, meaning she can pull that off naturally whenever she wants and it is of her liking whether she wants to use it to add with the style or the emotion of the song. Just so you know 🙂
It's true you can't please everybody ..but how can we just accept to be critisized by someone who barely new what we're doing..when most of the people who have watch this performance not only the Korean people loved the way how she deliver this song..Mori's been highly appreciated by lots of people from vocal coaches of different country,music enthusiast,reactor from all over the world and then you will meet this so called Korean who barely new what the artist is doing..it's a technique dude that not all the artist can do...vocal cracking,squeaking,whistling that's what make her special plus she is a natural story teller the way she perform...sorry lot's to say.

Ok, as you said, cracking voice comes naturally if you have one, meaning unintentional. But morissette she does it intentionally, rather than just comes unprepared in worst parts of the song, and thats AMAZING. She goes high because she can do it, not just to mess up like what you said. Her vocal range is so wide she can go low at 3rd octave and high as 6th octave, and thats AMAZING. She is not used in korean language but some part of the song is in hangeul thats why she said thats her first time doing that, and thats AMAZING.
Now tell me which part of that performance is not amazing.
Korean vocal coaches appreciated this more. Maybe your Korean friend just isn't a fan of power ballads like this song.

Asian countries almost have the same or somehow similar laguages but with it comes to us Filipino speaking Koreans or Chinese or Japanese maybe, it will take so much effort and practice for us to do so. For Mori to perform that song, a Korean(based in the Philippines) taught her how to day before her performance in South Korea.

That Vocal Squeak is natural on Morissette. It was her signature and gives emotion|To be specific, vocal cry| to the song.
The cracking voice you heard is called vocalbreaks. In Morisette case its intentionally done it's like her signature voice. If done properly its beautiful like she did, transition to lower voice to higher vice versa.

I've been watching multiple reaction videos regarding Morisette singing Resignation and this is the first time a korean was not able to appreciate her. There are vocal kpop coaches who handled certain popular kpop bands/groups that reacted to this performance and they were impressed of her regarding the korean part. Kindly visit their channel its Kpop Vocal Coaches, they were amazed of her talent specially the korean part. And take note that she represents the Philippines for 2 consecutive yrs on this Asia's Music Festival. It is sad that your KFriend cant appreciate her.

I'm so BUTTHURT right now... I mean, for me, that's a GRAMMY-deserving performance... Technique-wise, emotion-wise, and everything-wise... He even said that asian languages are similar... Man, filipino language is way different than that of korean... It's a spanish inspired language and its really hard to learn other languages in a little amount of time...
