    An old school classic vid Pete. Lovely mate. Weather looked cracking and the kit did the job. I'm to tall and broken to hit the floor these days, folding cot and swag for me but I used to enjoy the old ground dwelling. Never been one for kipping in hammocks. Cheers mate. ATB Moose.

    Love your content, new to the channel heard about it from Darren, train train train folks, it's not enough to buy the stuff, you have to use the kit! Put yourself in those uncomfortable situations so you can better manage them and learn your current limits.

    Hi Pete, another great video thank you. You may already know this but its good to turn off bluetooth & wifi when out for a while, it makes a big difference in saving the battery life. I think it's because while they are turned on they are constantly looking to connect to bluetooth/wifi hence draining the battery.

    • @MINDWISEMAN
      @MINDWISEMAN  3 роки тому

      Thanks. Yes for sure, I always switch off phone when not in use. Can't connect to bluetooth or wifi outdoors unless linking into main frame base line e.g. domestic, shop, building. Never use these whenever away from home. Internet link via mobile "phone data" connection/select, then I disengage when fin uploading pics or comms on social media..

      Thanks Dave. I desparately need to use a better video edit suite for longer multi part videos as existing suite goes awol random malfunction with longer edits/videos. A lot of footage to select effectively. I'll endeavour to get something sorted before end of year.......summit tolook forward to leading up to Christmas :-)

    good to see you out again, ... looks like a great spot to disappear,
    Sometimes its good to go minimal to retouch with what is actually needed.
    as opposed to take everything,

    Hi Pete, many thanks as always for sharing and well done on stripping your kit down to the essentials, it looked like a lovely camp and the hobo stove worked a treat. I like to go minimal every now and again on my wild camps and it really makes me appreciate the simple pleasures (and of course those luxuries that I take on other camps!). I enjoyed the insight into your home made 24hr rat pack and its provided plenty of inspiration for my own food choices on upcoming camps. Take care and I look forward to your next vid 👍

      Grateful for your in depth comment BB, was good to use the hobo for a change (more use soon) with basic essentials. Appreciation of simple things when out on the wild camps for sure, plus some extras just for the sake of it sometimes. Returning to the same spot soon with a different angle to the set up, cold weather sleep kit & cooking. ATB.

    I do pretty much the same for my ration packs, I don't buy the whole boxes, but I do buy the pouch meals in bulk on ebay, also the small pouches of peanut butter, and I buy either Biscuits Brown for old times' sake, or Trek & Eat biscuits. The rest is stuff I get from supermarkets, or Polish shops for those small portions of pate

    Hey Pete, I bought the Dutch Army stainless steel cook kit due to watching your videos. Love them! I noticed that it had the same problem as the U.S. Military mess kit in that in flops back and forth when you try to pour something out of it. I have a fix for it. Where the handles are attached at the bottom to the welded attachment, cut a notch on each at the bottom of the welded piece the same diameter as the handle so that when the handles are squeezed together they slip into the notch. To keep them in the notch cut a metal coat hanger the smallest length to bend around each side of the handle . Leave wire piece long enough to slide an inch or so towards the pan so that it tightens up. Slide the wire down towards the pan and if done correctly the end of the handles should click and stay in the notches and you should be able to pour without the pan flip flopping all over. Just thought I'd pass that along. This makes this kit a little more useful. Trying to figure out how to make a lid for the larger size pan. Glad your doing fine in these totally whack out times. Keep the faith and keep exploring.

      Good to know my activities are of interest to you. Nice idea of handle/bail arm fix stabilizer. Similar principle to stabilising bail arm on billy can, will defo give it an improvise. Cheers.

      Looks like I have two different type pans. One that the handles are welded together and one that they aren't welded. The notch idea works some but the hanger idea is a wash. Didn't have it completed before I sent the message. I'll tinker with it a bit.

    The corn you describes sounds like Parched Corn the Indians and Pioneers ate in America. Used and prepared the same way.

    If I ate those dehydrated meals I'd be smushing the pack to rehydrate it.
    One, it makes sure its well mixed but...
    Two, and more importantly to me, warms your wanking spanners up :-D
    Especially in cold weather, you can't do enough to keep your hands warm and fingers mobile. 👍
    UA-cams just suggested your older vids so I'll be binging marra.

    • @MINDWISEMAN
      @MINDWISEMAN  3 роки тому

      I wondered if anyone would notice the bug on my left leg when sorting food (besides what looks like gunk in the billy when pouring some fluid).. Not a tic, one of many types of shiney black ground woods/water beetles.
