- The present continuous tense, also known as the present progressive tense, is used to describe actions that are happening right now or are ongoing. It is formed using the present tense of the verb “to be” (am, is, are) followed by the -ing form of the main verb.
Structure:
• Subject + am/is/are + verb(-ing)
Examples:
• I am reading a book.
• She is cooking dinner.
• They are playing soccer.
It can also be used to talk about future plans or actions that are already arranged:
• We are meeting them tomorrow.
