thanks for the videos over the years lads, going through the roughest period of my life to date, but this podcast is a shining light in a very dark time in my life, currently homeless living from shelter to shelter, watching tonight from the confines of a church in east london. Keep it up fella's your work is appreciated more than you could imagine.
Top bloke TP. Wished we still had him at Stoke. Did a lot for charity too. Raised a lot of money for local children's hospice. Absolute respect. Enjoy your retirement Tone.
Breaks my heart as a Stokie - A team that lived for the team and the shirt. Big, physical, proper players - when you look at the state we’re in now it’s just sad
Pulis almost got us relegated and hughes did, that’s why they were both sacked - 2 managers in 9 years is incredible when you look at some teams in the prem. ‘That’s what you get for sacking Hughes’ - He’s the reason we’re down mate
Love these podcasts lads, one suggestion… when the guest mentions a player by nickname or first name, could you edit their full name in accross the screen just once? Wouldn’t take much effort in editing. Keep up the good work lads!
SUPERB Poddy this lads 👏🏼 Great to see our TP reminiscing on the good times with us. Left at the right time, and now Stoke fans will only ever remember him as one of our greatest managers. He’ll be sad to see the state of the team and the club now. Thanks for the good times Tone 🧢🔴⚪️
As a former Stoke season ticket holder I can say the depth teams like Arsenal hated us was the depth we loved that side. Tony is right about the Man City game at the Brit. They had a £50m Brazilian and by minute 40 his head had gone. He didn't want to know.
Well no one likes stepping in dogs shit, especially if it’s the type you can’t scrape off your shoe. You won nothing, you done nothing. TP lies about vieira will have you pillocks waffling down the pub…..never mind the truth eh 🙄
Incredible! Brilliant interview- good work lads. Heads up sound on Spotify version is so much quieter apart from the ads, had to come and watch it here where it sounded great.
Think I speak for everyone when I say “thank god this is back on the air again”. Best thing around. Thanks again lads great to have you back. Ps TP loves John 😂
As a Baggies fan I’ve had to endure his teams but he is a decent bloke I’ll bet you could do 5 of these with him and only just breach the surface. Another top pod though 👏👏👏
Enjoyed this one! Tony is a great guy, as a baggies fan thing's didn't go well in the end but was a great guy in management defiantly would love to see him manage somewhere again.
Top top man and a top top manager especially at Stoke...Proper man manager of which u don't see sadly no more in the game...proud to be Welsh when u c men like Tony in the game...👏🏻👍🏻⚽️🏴
Nowhere near a top manager lmao. His time at my club was the worst football I've ever had to watch. There were parties when he left A complete bellend too
@@jamespicksley5781 each to their own opinion...what he did at Stoke especially was nothing short of a miracle tbh but I agree you can't be successful everywhere u go as a manager so I can understand your point from his time at your club...👍🏻
Just finished watching this for the 1st time. Stokes 1st season in the prem was immense. From the loss to Bolton, to paddy power coming to the brit with slices of ''humble pie'' 😂
Amazing how often footballers tell lies, John Burridge always tells a story about playing on loan against parent club Newcastle and having a blinder for Man City and costing Newcastle 3 points that cost them the title he also talks about a save he made from Ginola and that he knew where the ball was going from having watched him in training..The reality it was the season before Newcastle blew the title and Ginola was even at the club at the time
Such a good podcast, great insight into man management and the life of a football manager. By the way, where can I find the full Danny Collins podcast please?
I still remember when he left Stoke like it was last week. I can't believe the club, under some pressure from the fan base pushed this guy out. I felt then that the club betrayed itself and we lost our identity. What were the owners and the noisy minority thinking - absolute madness. Watching this has brought back so many good memories - thank you.
Better opinion of him now he explained the situation at Wednesday. He was a terrible appointment for us in hindsight, but clearly wishes us and Darren well.
Can say all you want about styles etc but the one thing that TP always kept me on side with is that he’s a top top bloke. Great listening to him reminisce.
@1:33:26 Patrick Vieria left Arsenal in the summer of 2005. Stoke didn't get promoted until 2008. I call bullshit on TP's story. Why does he feel the need to lie?
Great to see a video of 4 normal men. No nonsense of having to do something different to pander to diversity. No needless women there who haven't a clue just to tick boxes. How refreshing and nowadays rare to see.
A lot of love for Reidy and Colin on here. Blackwell and Westley have been slaughtered by multiple guests (particularly the latter) but it would be good to get their perspective. .
West Brom manager Tony Pulis has coughed up almost £6m to former club Crystal Palace after losing a High Court appeal last year. Palace took further action against Pulis to enforce the judgment after the High Court labeled the Welsh manager's behaviour “disgraceful," ascertaining that Pulis had bagged himself an early payment of a £2 million bonus “by deceit” shortly before leaving Palace three years ago. Pulis received the bonus early by saying that he was “committed” to the club and “urgently needed the money early” so that he could buy some land for his children. He then left the club unexpectedly on the eve of the following season, joining West Brom five months later. An arbitration panel ruled that Pulis' aforementioned land deal was "non-existent," and ordered Pulis to pay Palace back his bonus, plus taxes and the amount arising from a clause in his Palace contract that meant the club would receive £1.5 million in compensation should he join another club. Add to this the £2m in legal fees, and the whole affair has set Big Tony back a good £5.77m.
Which was a lot. Proud manager of Gillingham when they were runners up in the third division in 1995 (or was it '96?). From the David Moyes school of management. Won nothing but talked a good game. Unlike Brian Clough and Bob Paisley he had all the coaching badges. Dreadful negative tactics as we found out at West Brom a few years back.
I'm shocked he didn't know about Rory delap's throw. He used the same tactics with a player called Neil Smith at Gillingham. I always presumed he signed him because it was so effective.
I quite liked Pulis at WBA, for one of the 4 seasons he was there, it was like watching Barcelona. Should've probably left at the end of the 16/17 season rather than halfway through the next season, we might not have got relegated. Hated him by the end but for some parts of it, it was enjoyable
Like watching Barcelona? Were you smoking crack for the duration of his tenure? It was soul-destroying, depressing SHIT and the amount of people I know who stopped going because of him was incredible. Some have never come back. The bloke was the anti-Christ
@@bromsgrove69 for a 4 game period, it become exciting to watch. That run from beating Leicester in November 2016 until beating Arsenal 3-1 in March 2017 was excellent.
@Dan Hewett 4 months? Oh that's OK then 🤷🙄 The "football" he played was totally unacceptable. Is it too much to ask to watch a team that tries to win matches as opposed to just not lose? And given the players he had at his disposal, his constant talking down of our ability compared to other teams was laughable and anger-inducing in equal measure. The continual tempering of expectations in the press was without question a way to justify his pathetically negative tactics and deflect from continued underachievement, especially towards the end. A tactical dinosaur, a manipulator and an all-round self-serving and self-aggrandizing prick

Did most stoke fans want him gone bit like Charlton with cerbishley
That's what you get for sacking Mark Hughes.
You all hounded him out. 🤔🤔

Just to say Jamaica did have a game on February 6, 2008 against Costa Rica and match ended 1-1. And Fuller played vs Wolves 3 days later
Doesnt let the truth get in the way of a good story, he wasn't even managing Stoke when Vieira and Lehman were at Arsenal.
I’m a massive Liverpool fan. We know where respect is due and TP has our total respect. Brilliant interview guys.
Surprising how addictive watching these interview gets. Hands down my favourite podcast. Please get Warnock on

That Patrick Vieira story is interesting, considering he left Arsenal three years before Stoke got promoted to the Premier League.
