It's always cool to see squeaky clean equipment before it heads out to be sold. If I was a millionaire, forget cars I'd be buying random construction machinery 🤣🤣
The best is a new and shiny yellow Caterpillar with black steel chains and a black showel. Normally I don't like yellow, but this combination on this machinery is really awesome. Once I have seen an all blue Caterpillar.. that was terrible!
It is for rocky ground. The excavator is so heavy that if the track was really wide and you ran it over large rocks the pads would constantly get bent up.
Those are rock tracks, used in rocky quarries and construction sites, as opposed to soft dirt. It's to give it traction. If you had wide tracks on broken rock, it would tend to slip around because it would not bite in. These are designed to concentrate the weight of the machine on a small surface to bite into the rock by reducing the surface area and increasing PSI. It's basically the opposite goal of flotation tracks.
I was wondering how many yards that bucket is. I run a Hitachi 470 and it’s got a 5 yard bucket on it maybe around 6 yards heaped. And to be honest it’s not to much smaller looking then the one in the video. I know looks can be deceiving sometimes but that still seems like such a small bucket for that machine.
I've worked on a pc2000, komatsu 200 ton digger and it's fucking huge climb up multiple stairs, and it's only a puppy. Then i was at thiess rebuilding hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors. Seen atleast 15m long hydraulic cylinder easily few metres in diameter it made my jaw drop as I've been around big gear and got told it was the main cylinder for the boom off a 9800 liebhrr 800 Ton digger. 2 overhead cranes to pick the fucking thing up. Still nothing compared to standing in a dragline bucket. Shits unreal how big machinery can get.

Thats the most beautiful thing i have seen in a long long time ! Can you imagine the feeling that operator must have like “ i can literally pick up ANYTHING !
Everyone that is amazed by this machine obviously haven't seen the big mining machines like the 6060 or 6090. I haven't seen a 6090 in person but worked around two 6060fs quite a lot. Those machines are huge. Even though there are larger machines like p&h 4100-xpc that I have seen from a bit of a distance a few times.
Sadly there’s only a handful of videos on youtube of the 6090 in front shovel configuration. Like just one page of results. Seems to be a rare piece of equipment. And most videos of the 6000 series are in backhoe configuration too, which seems like front shovel isn’t as popular anymore.

When you're an operator and you get to bust the cherry of a brand spanking new machine!! In 34 years being an operator, a joy I've only experienced once. My back and neck are all screwed up. Work smarter, not harder. Be safe!! 🤘🤙🤠

@Tracy D found 1 picture with 3 people in the cab lol. I thought that was funny. I operate at 20 inch dredge. The 20 inch sounds small but that's the diameter of pipe. Dredge is huge. They purposely make the lever room small so only 1 person can fit and the deck hands don't hang out in there all day. Funny excavator cab so big
My anxiety spikes every time that guy goes in front of the bucket where the driver can’t see him. Also get a bit panicky when the forklift bro doesn’t bother to look behind him when reversing. Someone’s gonna get squished one day.
He’s part of a team of spotters & best believe knows precisely where to be & where not to be & the team watches eachother, obviously never worked around large equipment
Are used to work for caterpillar on Saturdays the heavy equipment supervisor would let me move the equipment to the display area over the freeway here in San Diego that was pretty awesome!
@@txth6051 it is not about the height, it is about the width of track. It looks tiny compared to the size the machine. It might get stuck on the mud. But maybe it is not the case.
This type of excavator will be used on a quarry only and not where it would be soft under-footing. The extra width is unneeded and would only serve as unneeded floatation, giving the machine less stability & traction on hard surfaces such as rock. There is such a thing as too wide as well as too narrow. Less track on the ground means more direct pressure to the cleats, allowing the machine to bite in more securely. Also, wider tracks are more costly to replace, and they are extra weight the machine has to lug around, burning unneeded fuel.

Why are the tracks that small? It almost looks like those bodybuilders that skip leg day
They are really bigger than they appear!
This is because this kind of machine is not made to move, it always moves as little as possible.

So are these just the transport tracks or the actual work tracks?
I know I wouldn't wanna swing it around with a full bucket on that narrow of a footprint
These are working tracks. In a mine you don't wanna be moving around on wide tracks It's not fun
Work tracks buddy
@@RedDeadSpearhead It looks narrow in scale to the machine, but put it next to regular backhoe tracks and I bet it’s still a bit wider
Yes, the machine is very stable with this size pads on it. In rocky terrain wide pads would just get bent up and deformed.
