I am a big fan of this look. We have run something similar but it is power read out of trips bunch.
We ran something similar a 5 ago (when rpo's were just heating up) w/ our handdown TE. Except it was a straight pass. I like it this way in the video much better. We faired well without the run/pass option, just straight pass pro... But i love this idea. I think this works much, much better. I could easily see this being one of the best rpos out there on a yards/play basis. That handdown tightend always sneaks up on defenses from pop passes to this. Love it!!!!! Great video.
The Wing T has this. The local variation I came up in was what Art Schlichter ran at OSU, & they called it Purdue. WR has 12 yard curl & TE has the flat route they called a dart. They ran it out of waggle & jet play-actions.

Coach McKie always great to have receivers that can run block very underrated quality by normies that is what separates the great teams like pats from good teams that is one of the reasons i think calvin is a better reciever than moss
Have you ever used this concept with duo? I’m diving into the duo concept. I like the idea of a front side Rpo. Draws up easier against the odd than the even. On the odd front dbl the play side DE, dbl the nose, man the backside de, Rpo the play side OLB….. thoughts?
I haven’t but you might have a pre snap pro with it.
We run very little Hand Down TE, but have dabbled with it a little bit. For BSTE on IZ, we arc release to block for QB. It puts him blocking a smaller dude where he can be more effective.
Another Option for Pin n Pull or OZ RPO, run a seam. HUGE WEAPON. Running inside the walk up backer and if you get heavy flow from ILBs, nobody within 5yds of the TE.
We’ve used ARC blocking when we had a dude at LB.
So im going into my 1st year as an OC and weird situation its a team in Europe and I love watching these vids to both compare what I come up with and hear the way another smart football guy thinks and implements similar ideas.

@@CoachMcKie A boot leg/ Sprint Pass toward the side of the TE. The WR(s) on that side routes will change but the TE usually runs a 2-5-yard Out and he'll be open in the flats.

This is the exact concept I plan to use next year. We had two formation we used last year, Ace (2x2) and I. I wasn't a fan of I, so I'm making our other formation be twins (X on the weakside, a sniffer in between the BSG and BST, Y in a three point next to the PST, and R offset to the qb and a Z on the strong side. Could use a better name for it). One play that did work well out of I was faking power and rolling the qb with the fake and throwing to the Y in the flats. Our Y is a big kid who can block well and catch. We will be using this exact concept to allow our QB to make a read rather than just having it predetermined
Coach, you can run that same power pass concept from the gun.
This is basically Auburn's play to an F receiver (Eli Stove against GA) instead of the TE (send F receiver in motion to the tight end spot) QB reads end for give and pass

So we run something similar to your trips. But we do it out of 2x2. We call it Dutch. D stands for 2x2 the H tell the TE he is in a wing. So running zone read the TE slice the back side end to the 2 receiver side, but instead of actually slicing the end he avoids and runs the arrow route. The QB gets his normal RPO read and can just hit the TE in the flats and you have two blockers for your TE.
Coach do you have a website?
Impossible to cover without having a defender already aligned outside of the TE when the ball is snapped. How about put a slotback type kid at the TE for this play to enhance the possible yards gained after the catch?
You could definitely use a slot in place of a tight end. Defense still needs to account for the extra gap.
Hey Coach, would it look the same against a 4 - 3. Also could you use a TE Seam route?

The only worry i'd have with a seam is that the safety can pick it up even if he initially plays run. By sending the TE to the flats, it puts the LB (who are closer to the ball) in a tougher position to be right
You can use this from a 4-3. The Seam route is nice but you would have to have the guy in the box tell you when to call it. That would be more of a shot play.
Couldn’t you take the R, and put him on a slant?
Coach, do you think this would work with the same concept but with a H-back in say a Hero or Halo formation instead of a down TE?
It could. But H backs don’t really do anything to an odd front. Hand down forces their hand.
So trying to remember it after only watching it once I was confused how this would work vs a 43 C1 since 2 defenders were left unblocked. But really this is like triple option but the pitch is a pass instead. Am I correct in my analysis?

How is it illegal?
Yes F needs to be off if Y is on or vice versa.
I like a MOR/FAD GO or a hitch and GO on outside with the X even a delayed slant. Can even option to left after riding RB and then thriwing the delayed fake block fade and then a bubble by the RB after the run ride. That's after hitying then about twice on the TE side.
