Cuetzalan in the northern Sierra Poblana. It's got tens of waterfalls, caves, rivers, a unique ecosystem (fog forest), pyramids (Yohualichan), the town itself has kept a strong indigenous identity and you're relatively close to Tajín and Papantla, the Veracruz emerald coast.
Hi Dan, love your work, it just keeps getting better! Will you do one of Luis Barragan's House and Studio? It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site right in Mexico City.
Oof, so many memories! I am from Mexico City and moved to New Zealand 8 months ago. I really miss my city and all the places around, the food, my friends, family... Enjoy what you have now, you still have LOTS of places and things to do and visit!! You wouldn't be able to cover them all in a life time. Thanks for the video, keep it up!!! :D
Excellent video. I reside in a dangerous state in northeast mexico. So I am very sensitive to security issues. I am very glad to see that you and other foreigner vlogers visited recentky Michoacan and in your case in this video, Tepoztlán. Which had in the recent past serious security issued. At the point that a huge decline in visits of people from Mexico City. Which was/is as you said a very popular weekend destination. So you inspired me to start traveling through out Mexico once again. Thanks.
Saludos ✌Danielle
Maybe one of my favorite videos. Don’t know something about it. I’ve been in markets like that and the little kids with the dog wow. Beautiful views. My dad is from Tlacotepec de Benito Juarez. Had similar markets, not quite the hike but it has a church on top of a hill that young ladies walk in heels and little old ladies too.
We go to Tepoztlan every year. We get our years supply of chocolate from Cocao on the side street next to the cathedral and down from the market. The Abbey is gorgeous and the market is great, especially on weekends. We often eat at the same restaurant you chose. The pyramid is small but the view is spectacular! We love this little Pueblito Magico.
Tepoztlan, Morelos, never been but yet another COOL place to see and experience, the only thing I've heard of fame from there besides it being the birthplace of Quetzalcoatl is its artisan ice cream, but definitely worth a visit and heed Nari's rating of this beautiful town! :)
Dan, si aún sigues en Morelos deberías hacer la ruta de los conventos y visitar Yecapixtla y comer la deliciosa cecina. Esta como a 40 min de tepoztlan.... Ssludos
Ey thaks for taking us to Tepoztlan . Beautiful place . El teposteco i used to go there with my sisters when we were kids Thanks a lot. My respect. My friend .
Dan, I live in Cuernavaca which as you know is less than 20 minutes away from Tepoztlán. I'm glad you, Nari and Diego came over for a visit. Tepoztlán is our favorite place here for a day visit either on Saturday or Sunday starting with breakfast, a walk in the town watching the amazing vendors selling beautiful crafts (too bad you missed that, you'll have to come back on a weekend) and then a hike for the Tepozteco. Not on every visit though cause as you well pointed out it's an hour hike up to the pyramid. Hei, beautiful Friend you all made on your way up, the little boy.
I love the pink restaurant :) I haven't heard of this town before, but I really liked seeing the market and the town itself. I'd totally love to do that hike, too - the view is amazing!
Great video! You do it again, the music, the place and of course the michelada, perfect mixture. There are so many curiosities in tepoztlan, like the tales of UFO's or the time travelers or the hallucinogenic mushrooms and also witches of the mountain. But for me the best is that you can feel the mental peace and relaxation.
Saludos, The New Travel. If you both want to visit other amazing sites in central area of Mexico (not too far north and not too far south), I can recommend them to move to: Pátzcuaro, Tzintzuntzan, Uruapan, Tlalpujahua, Maruata y Pichilinguillo y Morelia (Estado de Michoacán de Ocampo); Real de Pozos, Xichú, Dolores Hidalgo, Salvatierra y Rincón de Parangueo (Estado de Guanajuato); Pinal de Amoles, Peña de Bernal y Jalpan de Serra (Estado de Querétaro de Arteaga); Lagos de Cempoala, Tlayacapan y Cuernavaca (Estado de Morelos); Mazamitla, Tapalpa, Talpa de Allende (Estado de Jalisco); Real del Catorce, ciudad de San Luís Potosí, Aquismón y Huasteca Potosina (Estado de San Luís Potosí); Pachuca, Real del Monte y Mineral del Chico (Hidalgo); San Rafael, Malinalco, El Oro, Villa del Carbón, La Marquesa, Nevado de Toluca y Valle de Bravo (EDOMEX); Chignahuapan, Zacatlán de las Manzanas, Cuetzalan del Progreso, Atlixco, Cholula, Chautla, Alchichica y Pahuatlán (Estado de Puebla). Orizaba, Xico, Córdoba, Coatepec, Xalapa, Puerto de Veracruz, Fortín de Las Flores y Tlacotalpan (Estado de Ignacio de La Llave). Huamantla, Nanacamilpa, Apizaco, Tlaxco y Tlaxcala de Xicohténcatl (Estado de Tlaxcala). Comala y Manzanillo (Estado de Colima). Ciudad de Zacatecas, Jerez, Pino, Sombrerete y Guadalupe (Estado de Zacatecas).
I am going to say British Columbia in the summertime: mountains, ocean, untouched valleys. Zeroing in further, the Slocan River Valley near Nelson - beautiful.
I'm hoping to go soon 🤞 What are the different opinions to getting to Tepoztlan? I know 1 of them if the Mexico City airport and then drive to Tepoztlan. But is there another options or another airport that is closer ?

Hola Dan, muy buen video. Felicidades por el amor al pasado y a la naturaleza.
Grande Dan, ¡amazing!
Gracias Fernando :)
Spanish tip: in place names the stressed syllable is vitally important. Tepoztlán that accent on the a makes a huge difference.
Thanks for the tip, Melissa! The indigenous names with the "tl" sound are especially hard for me to get correct ☺️
Dan, si aún sigues en Morelos deberías hacer la ruta de los conventos y visitar Yecapixtla y comer la deliciosa cecina. Esta como a 40 min de tepoztlan.... Ssludos
Beautiful Mountains and scenery....seems very tranquil at the top of the pyramid. Keep up the good work.
