EMS orbital and stun grenades are a must for me when running the flamethower. run into a patrol or see a bug breach? plug it with EMS and then safely cook them all at once. rly low cooldown, synergizes nicely with napalm or whichever other ADDS clear strategem you bring. i've been trying gatling barrage recently cuz the cooldown coincides nicely with the EMS and it's working nicely. stun grenades is for chargers mostly, takes like 4 seconds to kill with the flamethrower if you can focus fire their leg, which stun allows you to do. also chargers can escape your EMS trap without it. if you're partial to incendiary grenades, EMS strike synergizes stupidly well with it. either way i always bring light armor with engineering kit, 6 stuns or 6 incendiaries are insane with flame thrower and/or EMS.
EMS strike really can't be understated. it not only locks bugs down but it also clumps them up, as they can enter the cloud but not leave. super low cooldown. but on solo helldive the backpack rover slot makes a lot of sense.
