The hidden story in this game is that this was an early effort by Gaultier to make a comeback after his major injuries. Its amazing that he was ev😂n highly competitive with Asal... He is also very fortunate that Asal didn't trip him or knee him as he has done with so many players and further Gaultier's injuries...
He is an 18 year old who plays brilliantly. The decisions made were far from clear cut, many requiring referee subjectivity. Marwan is also a brilliant player. BTW Gaultier is brilliant at playing the referee, not only in this game but others as well.
@@phinbillington1342 I didn't see any blocking from Asal. I do sometimes see Gaultier lingering a little longer as his movements are slowing and the umpire making an allowance for this. The call not to allow the safety on the back middle wall was inconsistent with other calls. I watch all games live. There were a few other inconsistent calls too on disallowing let's which were inconsistent not only generally but between the players.
I'm on my forehand side of the court, my opponent plays a service that comes to my backhand. I can clearly play the return but stop to avoid hitting my opponent. I expect a let but I'm given nothing. What exactly is the message that sort of call is passing to players especially young players like Asal?
Asal is brilliant in the face of ambiguous decision making. Altogether a fantastic game to watch. Undoubtedly won by the better man. However, listening to these commentators who are so shamelessly biased is just annoying. At least three unambiguous examples of bias. Mediocrity reigns. I wonder how strong their monocultural network must be at PSA SQUASHTV.... because it is certainly not professionalism that keeps them there. Another Interest point. it shows how a referees decisions (especially one who speaks to Gaultier on Skype) can make a young player insecure while favouring an older more establishment player.
I think you need to understand the rules pal. It's a NO LET when you should play the ball and are trying to get a cheap point or are just too lazy to get the ball. Otherwise if you have NOTHING to loose you might as well ask for a let everytime you aren't 100% sure you will hit a winner.
Finally some spot on reffing
50FPS makes such a difference in squash!
and still waiting for 4k!
Brilliant reffing

For me !
He will be one time nr 1 in the world...
Fantastic good players
Thanks to them and psa
Asal seems to ask quite a lot of referees. I really hope he doesn't turn into another Marwan.

@@MervynMaistry okay okay we get it, you're an Asal fan.

@@vedantjalan4124 Ha! So true.
서로의 플레이를 존중해주고
무엇보다 끝나고 서로 웃으면서 안을때 정말 보기 좋았음 ㅠ

Squash is the best sport
John Mazzarella is the best ref
Joey is the best commentator
I am missing so much John Mazzarella saying "MR. Gaultier, calm down, we are going to review the point"
best game I have ever seen
Ref had a good day
Excellent referee.
Great game, the next one has to be Serme vs Gohar 5th game please!!
they don't normally do 5th games for free game friday but that would be sick
Might get away with it if we leave it a few weeks. It’s an absolute belter of a game so we’ll see what we can do :)
Love this
I thought the refereeing is inconsistent with how these points are generally called. Too reveretial to Gaultier I think.
Amer Husain refs in general are taking quite a strict view on Asal because of his blocking and fishing. Don’t think it’s to do with Gaultier

Absolutely outstanding from both of the players!
I hope fishing for ref decisions won't be a part of Asal's game going forward.
I hope you will be more objective going forward than believing everything two obviously biased commentators are saying.
@@MervynMaistry saw it with my own eyes.
Prophetic.......Asal has only upped his off-the-ball game since then
@@garethjones5385 yep pretty much.
@@MervynMaistry lol terribly aged comment
Who won the match?
Asal got caught a few times trying to win game point on cheap strokes
I want to see a Dessouky-Asal Match.. poor referee
The amount of lets Asal asks for here is...eh... I feel like some of them he just intentionally threw the shot attempting to make it look like a let.

it means play on
he had a lot of space. it was like a meter and a halfs space to hit the ball
Asal is gonna be nasty😳
Why does he have this thing on his face?
He was a 'junior' at this time, so had to wear eye protection on court
@@squashtv Thank you, I didn't know that

Which bias? Listen to them here 14:02 and here 16:25.
Calling it a monoculture sounds a bit racist to me.
Fully agree
There was no bias. Asal could have easily played through some of the balls but he did not so I think it was fairly objective commentating for me
The Frogs a cheat .............
Don't know about that, but did I hear the commentator imply he was having friendly Skype meetings with the ref?
